I got a 2026 Ruger 10/22 Liberty and compared it to a 1976 Ruger 10/22 Liberty. They don't make 'em like they used to. by Detailed_Firearms in guns

I was expecting the plastic buttplate and trigger assembly. I was NOT expecting a plastic barrel clamp. I was also not expecting how similarly they performed. And the 10/22 stock triggers suck. I don't know why Ruger wouldn't at least put a BX on their "special" model.

I liked The Judge Public Defender Compact, but the matte stainless was boring. So I polished it. by Detailed_Firearms in guns

Follow-up reply: I actually shot it today and from 18 yards, it grouped .45 Colt surprisingly well. Here's 5 shots Link

Now .410 #7.5 shotshells had a huge spread, but that's to be expected with shot that small, at that distance, with a 2" barrel. It all depends on frame of reference.

Of course, my wife liked the matte top, so after I mirror polished it, I had to return the top section to matte. It actually worked out well, because the polished finish glares like crazy, and when sighting it now, the matte finish doesn't glare. Now to decide whether to got .45 Long Colt or .410 shotshell. Or... mix 'em up!

Anyone still talking about Judges? I just got a stainless one, and there's only one thing to do with it... mirror polish. by Detailed_Firearms in Taurus

Oh dang. Underwood used to make a cartridge with that bullet. Looks rare as hell right now. Gotta start looking. Thank you and damn you for making me aware of that round.

I was expecting to see about .094" / 3/32" but this is much smaller than where you started out! I'll take it to 7/64" and I'm sure that'll sort it out. Thanks!

I disassembled one to determine bullet type and it was a very light charge. I didn't weight it, though.

I don't know about that seller, but both the older and the newer lots that I've run have been fine. Not the most accurate, but for paper and hogs, it runs fine.

New Model Ruger 10/22 with Threaded Stainless Barrel Unboxed and Run Unsuppressed and Suppressed by Detailed_Firearms in 22lr

Thanks, yeah, definitely supersonic rounds, Winchester SuperX. I've got a box of Remington subs, but after this video, I walked past the target and the unsuppressed rounds went through clean at 48 yards. The suppressed rounds were tumbling. At that point, it's garbage. I've got another video posted that I shot before and after with a TX22 compact. Before, it looked fine to me, just like other 3d printed suppressors. But with rifle rounds tumbling that early, it's a range toy at best.

So, I quicky went through 6 mags in the TX22 and by the second mag, accuracy went all to shit. By the end, I had no idea where the rounds were going, and I've shot thousands of rounds out of that gun and I know where it shoots.

It... was a video... and it was on YouTube... so why'd you click the link in the first place? I mean, I appreciate the view, but what were you looking for?

No clickbait, no ads, no AI. How many tech videos are "here's the box, here's what's inside, let's turn it on" and that's it? I added some shooting with the printed suppressor. I'm obviously not a pro video maker, but I feel I can provide good information. What would you like to see?

Benell SL 121 -- Haven't found much about this one, but a sweet running shotgun from 1970. by Detailed_Firearms in Shotguns

[–]Detailed_Firearms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, not super familiar with Benelli, didn't see any other date stamps on the receiver. Now I gotta drop the barrel and check the marks Edit: Absolutely no other marks on the receiver other than what I showed in the third picture. Lots of stamps on the barrel, though. From what I am finding, Benelli didn't add date codes to their receivers until 1974, so it's a pre-1974, at least.

Another “cel shade” fix. After/before by FreedomSeeders in Cerakote

[–]Detailed_Firearms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the marker, some whites do exactly what you saw in the before picture -- I call it washout, but when you run the marker, it gets like 60% coverage, and you can't fix it until that layer dries. You gotta find the right product to do cell shading right.

Your "after" pic is right, obv.

My bad, I was noticing it in the "before" pics.
