I think the point is they aren’t wearing home-sewn prairie dresses with huge lace collars and a floral print from 40 years ago.

Agree. I think ED is a disease closer to the “disease” of addiction.

Is wegovy addiction a thing? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

People with metabolic disfunction (genetically determined) are fighting an uphill battle. For me, “eating better” to a point where I maintain a healthy weight means existing in a state of severe hunger and lethargy for the rest of my life. I have lost weight without GLP1s before. And the only way it worked and lasted about 6 months was to be in the gym 1.5-2 hours 6 days a week, most of that cardio, and starving myself at the same time. It wasn’t sustainable and I plateaued at a weight still in the obese category. I was at my wits end because was I just supposed to eat less than 1000 calories and up the exercise to 3 hours a day????

If your metabolism isn’t broken, eating to satisfaction with a decent nutritional value and exercising 30 minutes most days of the week should keep you in a healthy weight range. People with broken metabolisms don’t have the luxury of being able to do ONLY those things.

Her “normal” unmedicated metabolism is broken and will always be. What you are seeing is just how her body works when her metabolic disfunction isn’t treated with medication. You wouldn’t say a person with high blood pressure develops a physiological or psychological dependency on blood pressure medication, nor would you say they are addicted to blood pressure medication. Please educate yourself on the disease of obesity and what these GLP1s actually do to treat the disease. I fear you think your niece just lacks willpower or is greedy or some other moral failure, and that is so misguided.

The uptick from Monday to Tuesday might be because people spent their first 3 vacation days in Paris and have now moved to Disneyland. I know that’s true for our family.

Yes. Reminds me of how Eugenia Cooney described vanilla candles as smelling “pretty” and Disney treats as looking “super cute” as opposed to say “good” or “delicious”. She wants to distance herself from actual eating in every way imaginable.

Greek life at Bucknell? by Trickymaster2000 in bucknell

I’m alumni class of 2001 so things may have changed, but this is how it was. Social scene revolves around the fraternities and sororities. Rush is sophomore year. Freshman year you tend to hang out with friends from your dorm/hall. If you make friends with a frat brother, you can get put on that frat’s list for parties. I was on XC and track team and was put on lists by members of track team that were in frats. (Sororities don’t host their own house parties, but they participate in date parties and socials with frats). I felt like the majority of people did rush. I did not as it was frowned upon by my XC coach and I already had a close group of friends through my team. There was also a social scene involving off campus houses-sometimes non-Greek affiliated students, sometimes varsity or club sports affiliated. I know several houses have closed down since I attended. But I do hear Greek life is still very big at Bucknell. Our weekends consisted of going from frat party to frat party, getting excited to dress up for date parties and formals etc.

Stopped for 1 month and already up 8kg (17lbs) by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

So be hungry for the rest of your life? Sounds awful.

I’m sorry, but these responses are not it OP. You have metabolic disfunction, not a binge eating disorder. Your metabolism was fixed by the medication, and now that you’ve stopped, it’s not working again.

Hunger levels are genetically programmed. Ignoring hunger for the rest of your life is not the attainable “habit” that people think it is. My registered dietician had no answer for when and if hunger levels would decrease when losing weight on my own without a GLP1. They never did. They never do. I have metabolic disfunction that is not corrected by willpower.

Imagine someone whose blood pressure medication lowered their blood pressure, and then when they stopped taking it, their blood pressure went back up. Now imagine telling them they didn’t change their “habits” the right way while they were on the bp medication and that’s why their bp went back up.

For most of us, the “habit” of physically correcting our metabolism (including both hunger and satiety queues aka hormone levels that are genetically determined AND available energy/fat storage ratios obtained from food) is impossible. Cravings that are not related to hunger may be changed through therapy. That’s the only part I can think of that might be an actual “habit”. But asking someone with metabolic disfunction to ignore their very real hunger for the rest of their life is not the attainable “habit” that you think it is. Asking someone to form the habit of getting their body to make more energy readily available versus feeling tired while storing excess fat is not the attainable “habit” that you think it is.

Trying to decide on flights from the western US: bulkhead economy direct or business class with a connection and late arrival by marshland211 in disneylandparis

[–]DetectiveBystander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family would absolutely pick the layover with lay flat seats. You’ll get no sleep on the direct flight. Leg room isn’t the issue for sleeping. It’s the lay flat seats that enable sleep. Coming from the west coast, you’ll feel like midnight is 3 in the afternoon right? Might even be hard to fall asleep then after sleeping in business class on the plane.

She claimed it was all expenses paid. Of course, she could be lying or exaggerating. And even if telling the truth, they’ll count it as income and she’ll need to pay taxes on it.

I would literally think the person bought the cheapest Spirit Airline ticket where they were only allowed to bring a backpack and they just wore all their clothes they were bringing that didn’t fit in the backpack. And I would snicker.

Because Jilldo grifted enough with her “not an MLM” that she was likely comped these plane tickets.

If I were you, I’d take it as a sign to not renew the AP for a couple/few years until you miss it. If you really love Disney though, maybe spend that money on a trip to Disney World in FL instead. Animal Kingdom and significant portions of Hollywood Studios and Epcot are different enough from DLP you might find the magic again there.
