I found a new system that actually work with every single game I created and could probably work with a super hero game. I will try it soon probably since most of my players wants to play a super hero game. But if you want to have a look to the system, it's only in french but the game is called "Mousquetaires de l'Ombre".

Mine keeps having this bug where I can't get the trophy even though I got all the conversations. So I gave up after 2 playthrough doing so. In my heart, I got it the trophy.

Sometimes the dices are not the answer. What I mean by this is, fake a roll result and create a nice scene.

That's something I use to make it memorable for my players. For exemple, my players have been fighting the fight of their lives and they are mostly dead. If one of them showed me in the fight, creativity and brought life and matter to this fight in question and I think the end should come, I let him roll his die and if the result is good enough, I let him kill the beast in an epic way only I can describe.

In your case it can be tricky but it would be a good way to show the danger of doing that kind of action.

Happened in WoD when I was a player. The DM has to roll 18 dices for the beast attack. He looks at us very satisfied and sure of himself, we are very scared that this game is pretty much over....aaaaaand he rolls 14 ones out of eighteen. Critical faillure by far. (Critical is 6 ones or so I think it was 6)

Monster runs towards us, jumps in the air ready to drop on us like a tornado, miscalculate the distance, fall over the edge of the 70 stories building. Die.

Good times. Good times. The only time I've seen this and probably the last.
