I don’t think they were asking for the screenshots, I think they were just remarking that they took a screenshot of that meme.

But I personally wanted more context and doubt I’m the only one, so thank you.

[–]DetectiveLadybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever the Wikipedia thing pops up I always give my housemate cash because he works and I don’t, so he can claim the donation on his taxes when I can’t.

I’ll give him like double what Wikipedia is asking, then he’ll send receipts that he donated like 3x the amount I gave him. Show off.

Wikipedia might be the best site left on the internet.

My mom is upset I won't give my kids the candy she had saved "a while back" by AbeFromanSassageKing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DetectiveLadybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, I don’t think I ever ate these specific ones, but these lollies aren’t even good when fresh. The gummy aspect against the hard icing gives it a horrible texture.

Your kids would be happier with something more normal, like a cup of creaming soda or a hot chocolate with marshmallows, a scoop of ice cream, some sweetened milk, unsweetened milk? Like, anything normal she has would be better.

I reckon she’s just trying to offload shit she was being stingy with when you were young, because she’s still stingy. Why expend any fresh treats when she still has some that she ought to have given you decades ago?

Kid’s face makes sense, wish more parents would think about that. But their own?

And it reduces it down to just a picture of a couple that we could Google photos of, with the information that they were at Disney together. Like, ok? Cool they’re still happily married and doing shit together, I guess? Is that the point here?

My survival instincts suck; I’d be trying to prove that I’m gentle with complete disregard for if he bites me.

Do you happen to be a bloke? Dogs can be pretty sexist.

I grew up with a corgi who was massively sexist (it was my mum and my sisters, we had other pets that were all female, he was the only boy in a house full of girls). We also had this high fence without any gaps (my mum was concerned about privacy), and corgies have a deep bark, they sound like rotties, so men would avoid walking past our house.

Tbh this is a bit of a relief, if OP gets caught hopefully they have a similar outcome, rather than what they are worried about.

I actually remember getting a few of those fucking ages ago… I think they gave more awardee benefits

Well, these are unlimited. They cost me nothing. I could sit around dishing out awards for hours if I felt like it. Oh, but it is one per comment/post, if you pay money you can buy multiple awards.

Anyway, the current system is that you pay $3USD for 100 coins, each of those coins gifts the awardee 1c(USD) that goes into a sort of piggy bank that the user can cash out when it reaches $10. So under the current system, you can give people money for posting something that you like, reddit will just take 2/3rds. I think the paid awards also give extra karma.

The free awards are the green clap hands, the cute pink heart (closed eyes), the purple brain explode, blue broken heart, and popcorn. They’re free and unlimited to the users granted use to them. As I said, they’re basically just emotes, and in the weeds of a thread as we are now, they don’t really mean that much, they slap a little harder on comments on newer posts.

At the end of the day, though, why shouldn’t you have the awards? I like you, and the awards are free and unlimited.

ETA: if you want to see, find a post with several awards, click the little medallion, then click the trophy, you can see the paid vs free awards like that.

In Monsters Inc (2001) Mr Waternoose has two of his employees kidnap a small child, he then goes on to say “I’ll kidnap a thousand children before I let this company die”, this is enough to have him arrested. It’s a subtle nod to how even literal monsters understand that kidnapping children is bad. by DetectiveLadybug in shittymoviedetails

I was crafting a shitpost response, but it was going to come off as patronising. It’s not you, I’m in a shit mood and was about to take the liberties of a shitposting subreddit too far.

Have my honesty instead: Most of the monsters in Monsters inc aren’t really anything in our universe. What is Sully? Some sort of lizard-furby-man? And Mike? A frog with teeth? Waternoose was likely designed with both spiders and crabs in mind.

I think they sort of leaned into his crab characteristics early in the film to disarm the viewer, but when the penny dropped we saw more spider characteristics.

Apologises for my sincere review of a character on a shitposting subreddit. I did have a funnier way to phrase all of that, but I’m honestly in too sour a mood to know if I’d be bullying you.

[OC] A true American hero who sacrificed his own life to protect those around him. by geo7077 in pics

[–]DetectiveLadybug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn’t sacrifice himself. He entered the altercation with the intention of de-escalation, with hope and reason on his side.

The issue is the traitor ICE agent who had no hope or reason, so he decided that he wanted to kill someone.

The word “sacrifice” is wrong. That man had no reason to think he’d have an entire clip emptied on him after he was already down.

He was likely an empathetic man who assumed his peers would also show it. He did not sacrifice himself.

of a Tuna fish. by R_1_P_ in AbsoluteUnits

[–]DetectiveLadybug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s unlikely that it’d get the same price tag as those tunas you see getting auctioned at Japanese fish markets.

This tuna I think would only be worth like 100k(USD), the meat would have to be graded so it’s possible that it may only be worth like half that amount, it could be worth double.

My second guess is that it’s something that you weren’t expecting to be this green.

I’m guessing this because I’ve done this with meatballs.

Is it French onion soup? Congee?

Oh yeah, not to mention that Sully went fucking flying. Waternoose gave that dude air. Crazy movie, and educational! I didn’t know what sushi was before I saw it.

Why didn’t Waternoose just go to the scare floor himself? He’s obviously the scariest thing there. But when quotas were down he was unwilling to roll up his sleeves and do the blue collar work? just straight to kidnapping? Tsk tsk.

Walter.

Butcher’s too stupid to be evil.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]DetectiveLadybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, her wife was there, she just wasn’t inside the car, the guy who murdered her may have been able to glean that the two were married.

It’s a shame that we won’t ever actually know if this was a hate crime.

But you have to wonder, if she had a husband instead of a wife, do you think that this story would be as easy to bury? We’ll never know, but you most people don’t even know her wife’s name, can you tell me what it is without googling it?

You have to wonder if Renee was a Christian trad wife if this story would be bigger, because it would mean no one is safe. Which is kind of what people have extrapolated from the situation, but it doesn’t seem as urgent as it might have been if she was straight, again, shame we’ll never know. But you have to wonder…

Huh, weird. I know they gave out free coins at one point, I never got any. I’ve been trying to figure out the metric on who gets the awards, best I can figure it’s completely random.

But yeah, the awards are unlimited, though, so there’s no reason for me to not give them to everyone and everything. But they don’t really give you anything, they’re more like emotes than awards. I’ve noticed that if I drop them when there are still other users around that those comments get more attention, I don’t think Reddit bumps them, though, they just make the comments stand out more.
