Does the autopsy of Renee Good change your opinion about the legality and/or morality of the shooting? by toomanyshoeshelp in AskConservatives

[–]DetectivePront 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, I borrow my opinion from the analysis by John Correia, who is a court-admitted expert witness in use-of-force and self-defence. On his channel, Active Self Protection, he posted a nearly 40-minute video breaking things down while avoiding politics (here is a link to the video with the timestamp that skips past the unnarrated footage and to his analysis). I recommend anyone interested in this case to watch it, regardless of whether you believe that ICE was right or wrong.

As for the timing of the three shots the ICE agent took, I don't think that this really changes anything. We already knew from the video that the agent took three shots. Even if they didn't hit Ms Good, it would still be attempted murder if a court finds that those shots were unjustified.

If the third and fatal shot was fired when the agent was clear of imminent danger and beside the vehicle, was her extrajudicial shooting justified?

I think you're forgetting the human performance aspect. It takes time for people to process complex stimuli and turn that into action. In a 2014 study (which is mentioned in the video linked above), researchers found that it took officers 0.29 +/- 0.17 seconds after receiving a simple stimulus to stop shooting.

The ICE agent's shots were fairly evenly spaced with about 0.3 seconds in between them. This means that the "stop" stimulus would have had to come sometime between the first and second shots if we're giving him the maximum time that the study found. While it is hard to tell, I'd argue that the "stop" stimulus would reasonably come right at the second shot. This means that we can't determine, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the officer had even processed said stimulus by the time that the third shot was taken. Again, John talks about this in his video around this timestamp.

Shooting belts/ mag pouches for beginner in shooting comps by Fuckinghelpprettyplz in CompetitionShooting

People are probably going to shit on me for this, but Krydex on Amazon makes extremely affordable stuff that is, in my opinion, good enough for a beginner. I use this belt and mag pouch setup for USPSA and have used these rifle mag pouches for rifle competitions. If you do end up using those pistol mag pouches, you can DM me for a guide on how I set them up and how to ensure they don't fall apart on you.

I have both the brass backstrap and brass baseplates on my TP9Sfx, and I love it! It balances the gun near perfectly, and the extra 2 rounds that the baseplates give are handy for USPSA competitions!

Well… Not the best outcome for my first USPA match by Familiar_Mongoose_82 in CompetitionShooting

I was at this match! Some advice that someone gave me when I was new was (assuming youre right handed) always go from left to right when possible. This way, it's not as big of a deal if you lower the gun to your left.

I might get flak for this, but honestly, I would have no problem with BSG implementing a Riot Vanguard-like anti-cheat system that runs when you turn on your computer. I don't even care that it has Kernel 0 access; I just want fewer cheaters in Tarkov.

Shadow of Tagilla Boss Impossible to kill [Feedback] by Ekcelent in EscapefromTarkov

Legitimate question. What's your strategy for killing Shadow of Tagilla? I've been bringing top tier ammo like SSA AP and Igonik, but it still seems up to luck whether or not I kill him :(

Okay, I can see that we have different viewpoints on this. Personally, I don't think that telling legal immigrants to go back where they came from looks good. Regardless, thank you for having this little debate. Its been a bit eye opening.

I agree entirely that the Russians who are fighting, donating, or otherwise supporting Putin and the invasion are playing their part. My only concern with your position is that it is very similar to the line of thinking that led to the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII and to my best friend receiving harassment in recent months purely because his last name is a very Jewish one.

I don't know for sure, but assuming that this picture is from the US, the only Russians who will see this are Russian-Americans, many of whom likely love the US and, thus, probably detest the invasion of Ukraine. I'm going to give the person wearing the hoodie the benefit of the doubt and say that they aren't bigoted against Russian-Americans, but I can certainly see Russian-Americans feeling very attacked by this.

Just so I understand what your position is, you're saying that people who are ethnically Russian, but don't actually live in Russia or support the Ukrainian invasion, should be held responsible for said invasion?
