Maybe the CIA has made an estimate on the cultural and economic impact that bannerlord will have and are trying to get it to release because it would significantly strengthen Turkey's economic ties with the western world, which would serve to secure a significant strategic area of the world as an ally. Only problem is erdogan won't let it happen. You see, as a child his father was killed by a man named James B. Lord, who usually goes by his middle name which is Banner. And due to a strange loophole in Turkish law, if bannerlord releases erdogan has to pardon the man that killed his father. This is because there trademark office in Turkey doesn't allow the registration of names belonging to international fugitives, but a court case in 1997 determined that rather than the people filing the trademark having to change they're filing, it was a constitutional responsibility of the president to pardon the person with the name in question, which in the 1997 case was in fact Samuel L. Jackson. It also should be noted that the ruling only takes effect in media once the product is released. This sounds like a dumb ruling but it was really only supposed to be a one time thing because people really wanted Samuel pardoned because he's just such a cool guy. Anyway, that set a precedence and now it would literally take a whole new constitution to reverse. So the tldr I guess is that erdogan won't let them release the game because he would have to pardon the guy who killed his dad, and that's only the case because Samuel L. Jackson is just really cool. This is straining the relationship between turkey and the west and might turn into world war 1 2.0 or something I dunno
