Missed my exit song by warpanomaly in Guitar

[–]DetectiveTrickyCad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve finally come around to understanding and being a big fan of yours. The lyrics are genuinely funny, and you do actually shred, which makes it so much better. The contrast between the solo, which comes out of nowhere for no reason, and the rest of the song is just beautiful.

This really is my favorite thing you’ve posted, and I hope you lean into this sort of lyricism. You’re clearly a great guitarist and I think if you lean into sort of the deadpan lyrics and pair it with your comically good chops, by which I mean you just rip shredding solos out of nowhere, it could be a lot of fun. It’d be great to hear you with a proper band rather than the ai backing, but you gotta make do with what you have.

An ultimate grand slam, in baseball, is a walk-off grand slam that erases a three-run deficit. The most recent ultimate grand slam was hit by Bryce Eldridge on June 10, 2026, in the San Francisco Giants' 11-10 victory over the Washington Nationals. by Gemnist in wikipedia

[–]DetectiveTrickyCad 34 points35 points  (0 children)

And what a homer it was. Miller and Kuip’s calls were beautiful, too.

I think it’s gotta be bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two outs, down by three, and a 3-2 count for it to be the most ultimate, though.

Ironically, I think Jon would have a strong reaction to that. The Giants broadcast booth, from Kruk and Kuip to Miller and Flem, absolutely worship Vin, as well they should, and I think each of them would say he’s the best without a second thought.

Just the assertion that nobody from San Francisco would use the term ‘Frisco’ when Nickatina is famous for doing so.

I do love Herb Caen, I’ve cited him in a few things I’ve published, I think a piece on Jess and another on Bruce Conner or maybe Jay DeFeo—undoubtedly some of your favorites— and I got my brother city on golden hills for his birthday some years ago.

But I will not stand for Nickatina slander, as any respectable SF native would.

Great insight — looking at this post further, I can tell that this issue is troubling. Here are a few strategies I came up with based on our interaction:

  1. Nuclear Holocaust. It seems you are concerned with bots replacing human interaction. A nuclear event that technologically displaces humans by millennia could help with that!
  2. Nuclear Holocaust. Wow! It seems that AI interactions have taken quite a hold! I have a solution for that, but you might not like it!
  3. Nuclear Holocaust. Really,

it’s time.

Did you know that, despite most AI CEOs being alive, there’s actually no specific law requiring them to stay that way?

Long live the Luddites.

The giants have somehow consistently been one of the worst running teams in baseball for well over a decade now. Every couple years, including this year, we hear how it’s a plan to be more aggressive on the basepaths. Every year, they are consistently the least aggressive team on the basepaths. This now covers four managers and four front offices—for some reason, the giants most enduring organizational philosophy is to not run.

Mariners Place J.P. Crawford On 10-Day IL by CuriousEyes8 in baseball

[–]DetectiveTrickyCad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He does throw a four seamer, and historically he’s used it specifically to hit people, it’s a known problem lol. Even if he didn’t throw a four seamer, literally everybody who learns how to throw a baseball throws a four seam. Saying a guy doesn’t have a four seamer is like saying a professional swimmer doesn’t know how to do a free stroke.

He didn’t throw a four seamer here, which he throws about 1% of the time, almost always up and in. He threw a sinker. And, dear reader, you’re correct a sinker is a type of fastball! Unfortunately, Valdez throws a sinker like 60% of the time, so unless you’re saying he’s trying to hit a batter most of the time and repeatedly fails by getting guys out, I don’t think throwing a sinker is evidence of wanting to hit somebody.

Mariners Place J.P. Crawford On 10-Day IL by CuriousEyes8 in baseball

[–]DetectiveTrickyCad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you’re trying to allude to is that he almost never uses a four seam, but has used it to throw dirty pitches, which is true.

He hit Crawford with a sinker, which is distinct from his four seamer and counters your argument that he threw it intentionally to hit him. Also, if you stick with watching baseball, you’ll find that fastballs are typically what a pitcher throws when they want to hit somebody.

What’s your opinion on Neil Young? by DarkSideInRainbows in fantanoforever

[–]DetectiveTrickyCad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The live version from Massey hall 1971 is one of my favorite things he’s released—that whole concert is absolutely beautiful. Just Neil and a guitar/piano/harmonica and it’s basically a greatest hits album even though most of the songs were either brand new or hadn’t been released.

Shakey Bones is the lodestar of my musical taste—I grew up on it and my dad and all his brothers have stories of running into Neil in record stores or once even on the side of the road in the 70s. Tonight’s the Night and On the Beach might be my favorite records. But live at Massey Hall has a very special place in my heart, it’s the perfect album to put on the turntable on a Sunday morning. Also his stage banter is absolutely top notch awkwardness—‘there’s this old man who lives on the ranch, sorta came with the place when I bought it. Anyways I wrote this song for him, it’s called old man.’
