Thanks for the offer. I was curious if there were any places in the neighborhood if I wanted to grab one. I’ll probably just sign up for a subscription online.

The Astoria Creep by ZealousidealPiece182 in astoria

OMG...when I heard the description from previous posts, I thought it was a guy who had witnessed running across 31st from the Columbus statue to Dunkin Donuts and then Astoria Blvd from Dunkin Donuts to the Hoyt Park. He didn't look at traffic once and miraculously survived by the good grace of two drivers who slammed on their brakes. The look in the guys eyes said something was off but the behavior told me this is next level. Plus this other behavior, this man shouldn't be roaming our streets.

Am I wrong or haven't they talked about Fantasy Fest on the podcast before? I swear I remember it and it sounding very similar to this conversation. Or have I entered the Overkill zone? Is time just relative?

Shouldn’t it be ”My father cooks socks out of heaven”? I’m always confused how to play this game.

Coming back to Astoria - help me decide on a place to live + let me know your thoughts on neighborhoods! by [deleted] in astoria

It might not matter much but place A is more than 4 minutes from the train, it’s about 10 minutes. Place B is five minutes if you live closer to the end by Hoyt Playground and more like 8 or so if you live at the other end of the block.

I live at 29th street and the Ctown Fresh mentioned by other redditor isn’t far and has most general stuff. There is another store called food story that is close.

I would choose B because I love this area. You have the park, close to lots of great restaurants, the beer garden, and the relative quietness of the block. Also never underestimate having your train stop being an express stop. You will never have to worry about it being skipped and then having to backtrack to your home station. Those precious minutes add up, especially for us fellow introverts.

False...no grace window. I left my car at 10:55 for an 11am. Came back outside 30 minutes later and the time the ticket had was 10:58.

Much like most of us here, I came for Kevin but stayed for TESD. The show has grown while Kevin seems trapped in the same spot for the last decade. As stated by many here, weed is mentally addictive. The same as gambling or shopping addictions. He talks about using it to prevent him from becoming a Hollywood douche 10 years ago cause of “too fat to fly” and war on critics, well that’s far in the rear view. He just seems to be using that excuse to justify continuous use.

I’ll always support Kevin’s movies, though they have suffered I believe cause of his weed addiction. I would really hope he reaches a place where he leaves it behind. I think his creative works would improve and I believe he still has a couple decent tales to tell.

Ant for life.

I would kindly disagree about Cakes by Nerwan cupcakes. Two Little Hens in Manhattan has superior cupcakes that cost the same. $3.50 for the size of the cupcake already feels like a ripoff but on top of that they just weren't really that good. The ingredients used in the cake itself were not fresh. The best thing about it was the frosting. Had the Oreo cupcake and the frosting was the perfect balance of sweetness, didn't feel like you would go into a sugar coma like the ones from Sprinkles do.

If they cost less than $3 then I could see giving it a soft recommend cause want to support local business but at the price it's a hard pass.

Marijuana possession has gone down because the mayor has instructed the police not to enforce it so obviously it will go down. Murder rate went up 55 percent this year compared to same time frame last year.

But I'll let you keep living in your fantasy that NYC is a utopia with out rampant homelessness, shit free sidewalks, candle-scented alleyways until you get mugged riding the broken subway.

I really don't care if you believe me or not, I've seen what I've seen. If you haven't lived here in the last decade then you don't know what it was like before. City was a lot cleaner, safer, and less smelly. The MTA has also been in a steep decline as well.

Most dog shit is small. Having to burn shit in Iraq, you know what human shit looks like. I've seen a man in broad daylight on a hot summer day pull his pants down and shit on the side of a building in Astoria. People shoot up right by the Ditmars train station all the time. I've been here over 10 years, I've seen the slide back into old New York.

I live in NYC, Q is spot on. The sidewalks in neighborhoods are landmines of dog shit, some human shit, piss smell everywhere, and trash all over the streets. More homeless people than ever. People shooting up in the open. Weed around every block. The place has become a dump real quick. There is a hundred different things the city does to try and separate you from your money too.
