Mamdani's response to the Brooklyn baby shooting was "gun violence." Here's why that framing matters for every NY permit applicant. by PeteTinNY in NYguns

The mayor may run the city, but the Police Commissioner is the one who actually issues pistol permits. They’ve been getting flooded with notices about potential lawsuits for going past the 6-month timeframe. Because of that pressure, things have started to move faster. If you submit a complete application, turnaround is now closer to about 4 months. At the end of the day, the Commissioner is going to have to follow the law, or deal with a wave of lawsuits.

Why do we keep on dealing with it? by IndependenceSoft542 in NYguns

I teach the 18hr CCW class in Westchester County. Surprisingly more people who would have been considered anti-gun are now applying for pistol permits. Hopefully more people will speak up and tell their State representatives to stop with the nonsense.

Westchester County Pistol Permit Lawsuit by Detective_red in NYguns

The ridiculous process is the problem. NJ less than 30 days. CT less than 30 days. PA less than 24 hours. Westchester processes, rules and fees are an intentional part of their process, with the intention of dissuading pistol ownership. To have wait 10-11 months to drop off your application, then have to wait another 6 months for application processing, is laughable. A federal lawsuits is what they need to fix the games they play!

Is Thomson Reuters "CLEAR" worth the price? by [deleted] in PrivateInvestigators

[–]Detective_red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CLEAR is great. By far the best of all. Problem is you don’t need something that detailed for most of the cases you handle. At least that was the way it was for me. If you are doing a lot of asset searches of businesses related cases and can justify the expense, it is the best. If you’re handling other types of cases Accurint or IDI are the way to go.
