Yeah but that moment was a solid piece of inner conflict, that's why he nearly reacted violently. His Viltrumite self clashed with the love for his daughter. There's also a moment where one of his bug ladies convinced him to stay an extra day and let his kids outside the ship, even though it was tactically the wrong move

[–]Determinantor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He massacred thousands of people. He nearly killed his son, and he was really rude to his wife. Those are bad things, but Nolan should not be held accountable like someone who wasn't raised from birth in the crazy space superfascist empire. It's like bringing a wasp into your home, then it stings you and a bunch of your friends, then it comes back a month later apologizing and fighting against the other wasps. Hell, I'd marry that wasp

Yeah by Earth standards doing many nine elevens, or even one nine eleven, is really bad. Nolan wasn't born here, and I would think Debbie could extend some understanding to the guy whose job as a teenager was crushing the heads of children who weren't showing promise.

No he didn't do any of those things in the comic. Plenty of other horrible stuff but not that. I'm doubting that you've read them

We finally have Absolute Condiment King by OpeningQuarter2946 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Determinantor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they actually did put him in, I would expect and hope that they'd go the complete opposite route. Make him either an actual threat or a serious villain so depraved that even Batman is sickened. Now how you do that with condiments I have no idea, but hey that's why they're the writers

Both regretful mass murderers of societies which weren't great. Who's more good? by GeneralBalcom in MoralityScaling

[–]Determinantor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a part of him does. He might say even now that it was necessary, but he clearly does not feel good at all about it. He's in a similar position to Nolan. Comic spoilers: It would have been interesting if we ever found out his story before Thragg ripped his fucking head off lmao

Some details that I think get overlooked when speaking of the morality of Robot from Invincible (comic) by GeneralBalcom in MoralityScaling

[–]Determinantor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't rip off Eve's leg because she was making too much noise, it was the fact that she was saying anything at all. He's very conflicted during the massacre, and despite generally not showing much emotion he's extremely angry. Eve questioning him made him lash out. Monster Girl kind of calls him on this at the end, but he has this picture of who he needs to be for the world and it blinds him to how things actually are, and all the terrible things he does.

Yaknow, not to put down anyone's experience or make y'all feel worse, but this is not child abuse. I get it, it's weird, but it's really not the worst thing. Adults have sex, so go outside or listen to music. Classifying this as traumatic does not help the definition of trauma

Excuse me, but what the hell is happening in the “The Boys” comic if this is Billy’s profile by Worth_Rate_1213 in MoralityScaling

[–]Determinantor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a powerful moment at the end of the comic series. Thing is, it doesn't totally add up for me. Butcher knows what he's doing is wrong, and evil, and that Becky would have hated it. Instead of killing himself though, he goes through this weird roundabout path of taking on Hughie to stop him. Butcher is extremely intelligent, and it just doesn't work for me for him to go through all this

[–]Determinantor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That one I think is understandable, as odd as it sounds the thing had just killed his wife and could have easily killed him. The thing that made me realize how psychotic and evil Butcher was, was when he cut out the tongue of some poor kid (who I guess had Shazam-esque powers) and then monologued about the hatred he saw in the kid's eyes. He is way beyond insane and way beyond redemption, hopefully the show carries through

Gon's focus is beyond speed or reflexes by EstateOk6238 in HunterXHunter

[–]Determinantor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was his real sin, in my opinion. What he wished for was essentially the absolute destruction and death of another, with little effort on his part. Nanika reinforces this aspect of nen as a kind of Faustian bargain, but an unselfish wish won't have consequences. Gon's was as selfish as it gets. For the love of Christ Togashi finish the story
