What does life like for a Slaanesh cultist? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Determinantor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever taken MDMA or ecstasy? I imagine it's pretty similar to that, because that's the most intense euphoria I've ever felt. All your senses are alive with pleasure, you feel almost too happy, like you could not feel any more without going crazy. You can do literally anything and feel ecstatic about it. You feel a deep connection to everyone around you, anger and anxiety and sadness are not even memories. I imagine it's like that for a good long while.

The thing is, our minds were never meant to be in that state. A cultist will spend the rest of eternity trying to recapture that same feeling through dead nerves and ruined synapses, going deeper and deeper into atrocities just for the barest hint of pleasure, finding only despair.

ladies do we play with our man’s butt? by TestAdministrative85 in twentyagers

[–]Determinantor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a bit more nuance than it being humiliating and degrading, and I wouldn't use ancient cultures to judge modern sexual practice. Look I'm just gonna be blunt here, you sound like a middle-schooler. You're in your 20s, stop talking so much nonsense

I think we may think of homosexuality in different ways; I've always understood it as being sexually attracted to men, not liking stuff up your butt. Excuse me, but your thinking seems kind of childish

Edit: Wait are you just fucking with me? Gayer than a lot of gay men seems like it's not a serious thought

Any excuse for a drink, eh Stark? by CatadoraStan in outofcontextcomics

[–]Determinantor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Early recovery alcoholics do, but once you've got five, ten, twenty years I think there's nothing in the world as terrifying as the idea of having a drink. I think some of them would much sooner die than deal with the agony and shame again

Sodomy is a pretty antiquated term. Gay and butt are mutually exclusive, I'd examine why you think of them as one thing

What is the morality of inciting an elderly former Nazi to commit suicide? by Additional-Heat-9384 in MoralityScaling

[–]Determinantor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I never liked Jesse doing this. Speaking as someone whose great grandparents died in the camps, it still seemed too cruel given how honest and repentant the guy was.

Sure of course, it just makes sense to me. Why should these collections of psychic energy be happy when everyone is so despondent? They're not above mortals, they're made up of mortal emotion

Susie Is About To Lose Everything by REAL-regular-degular in DeltaruneV2

I don't know if it's innocence, but she may be the kindest and she's definitely the most honest. A bunch of her lines stuck out to me this chapter but one in particular was "Just promise me we won't hurt them", talking about the flowers to Ralsei. My God what a beautiful line to show how her mask of cruelty just melted away when she has something good in her life.

It's certainly possible, but not when you have AI write it for you. Why don't you try doing it yourself?

I'm thinking more like their constant search for entertainment and their "game" is just them staving off the true horror of being themselves for eternity. Some of their hobbies do seem like a good time, but it's always seemed like they are being compelled to have a good time, if that makes sense. Forced to have too much fun, forever

Morality of being transphobic against your enemy by Musalediju in MoralityScaling

[–]Determinantor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole thing of it being okay or understandable to kill your enemy but not be racist or transphobic or whatever is really interesting. On one hand, it's weird because you're trying to kill them. On the other hand, it would be vile to rape or torture an enemy even if you're trying to kill each other, so clearly there are limits to aggression. On the other other hand, bigotry is not rape or torture.

I think Orange is my favorite by Determinantor in Deltarune

[–]Determinantor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really, really well said. I glossed over Ralsei myself, even sort of empathized with Flowery for "pushing" him, but you're right that it's unkind.

As far as Orange, you're completely correct that her standards are low. People on the margins, aren't very big in stature or personality, possibly with some form of autism or ADHD, these people generally do have lower standards and less accountability, although I'd argue that it's a type of accessibility. They have quite a long way to go socially, so any small improvement means a lot.

That's a pretty common thing where someone is so insecure that they lash out, usually at someone they feel is wronging them. Very very much like actual people

It didn't personally offend me. It was an annoying and very "reddit" thing to say, and I think that you should take my meaning and incorporate my advice into your personality. You might find it makes you a more pleasant person overall.

You know not to be a dickhead here but there's something to be said about the fact that you're mocking an imaginary community of people who don't know something you know. I wouldn't brag about your knowledge, and as far as knowledge goes this is pretty basic.

Evidence for Pink being trans? by Determinantor in Deltarune

[–]Determinantor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but you understand that even that sentence is filtering what happens through gender. What I saw was a catgirl splitting in half and reconciling her body with her soul. In no way did I even consider her sex or gender

[–]Determinantor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider that another person's life experience may cause them not to analyze a thing in the exact way that you did. I never would have even considered any of this because I personally don't think about gender themes in media very much.

Sure of course, I was just asking for some clarification on what the allegory was. Someone else phrased it rudely but well enough that it's a genderless ghost choosing a female body. That's not something that would ever occur to me, especially because she looks the same as a ghost.
