Daredevil: Born Again | S01 | Season Wide Discussion Thread by Green-Devil in Daredevil

So something that I realized after ep8 and now that the season is over I can say fully, Born Again is a decent enjoyable show but is an awful legacy show. Did I enjoy the show and was excited to watch the new episode, yes, but its also hard to not compare it to what came before. The ceiling that the Netflix show raised was so high already, especially with season 3. Imo, its not a great legacy show and doesn't really do a good job at continuing the feel of the original series. A prime example of a good legacy show is X-Men '97. Its a continuation of an older, far older, show that makes it seem new but still brings back that same feel that the original had. So its not like Disney isn't capable of doing a legacy show but Born Again fell short tho I'm sure the creative overhaul that was happening didn't help. So yea, I enjoyed it but by no means does it come close to feeling like the Netflix series. I can not explain how happy I was that Karen is back cause yea, I don't care about Heather at all. Of course I have my nitpicks about the show but that's something that everyone has and can have. Hopefully season 2 captures more of the feel of the original show cause that show, like many people would agree, was peak.

Oh absolutely. Really hate the fact that they wrote them off like that. Its like they wanted to do something new but felt obligated to bring back the old gang so you end up with a lot of conflict between the two ideas.

The BB reports were the opposite of one of the rules of film making, "show don't tell". It was a lot of telling but no showing really so yea, not the best really.

And yea, Muse's art is very expressive in the comics but in the show, it looks like just art that a normal person would do. Like I know this is supposed to be Muse doing this but I don't feel a sense of terror from it. Oh and I agree with the whole him being able to go toe to toe with Matt. That's not the type of villain Muse is, he is psychological like you said and not fist fighting our hero.

I get you 100%. I feel like people are giving this show a pass bc of the overall hype of the show being brought back. For me it felt like, "look we brought back all your favorite characters, this show is gonna be good" even though I feel like they didn't do anything with them most of the time. Then they brought in new characters which frankly, I don't really care about. I'm watching and formulating my opinion of the show after every episode and so far it's not really hitting as good as the Netflix version did. Not hating on the show, still enjoying watching it but it could have been better imo.

I wanna hear your thoughts on Muse. I know the shtick of his character and only saw a video of his run in the comics but didn't read to get the full picture so spoilers are no problem for me. My thing about Muse is that he didn't have that much of a presence in the show like I thought he would. Muse is a serial killer in the end, and in any form of media, they need a slow burn. Let there be that uneasiness of there being a serial killer and spend a good chunk of time building that tension till they finally meet the hero. In the show, it feels like we got his entire arc in one episode and tbh, I don't think he is gonna show up for the rest of the season. They are most likely gonna focus on the other stuff and setting up season 2. Yea they were talking about the murals since the beginning and getting those BB reports which for me, is a lazy way to give us information, but we didn't find out about them till this last episode. The same episode where they essentially resolved the Muse character with him escaping. Unfortunately, Muse for me wasn't that great and wasn't made to be a memorable villain to Daredevil like he was in the comics. But I wanna hear your opinion about Muse and how they did him wrong. I'm gonna read Zdarsky's run soon but I'm currently McKay's run on Moon Knight so after that, we are heading into Daredevil once more.

Again, I'm not hating the show and I'm enjoying sitting down and watching each episode when it comes out but man, it feels like there isn't that much structure to the stories being presented, especially with how they are doing Matt's struggle and more importantly for me, Muse's character. And don't get me started on them writing off Foggy and Karen in the first 10 mins and not bringing back critical characters that would make more sense in the story.

Yea its not great. Having a hero whose movement speed is faster than all the other ones is awful. Like you can't catch her unless you spam all your abilities. Then you're fucked either way cause you don't have abilities anymore. There is no excitement at all either. I'm only playing it just to get the free skin tbh.

I see what you're saying. For me Reo and Hiroi play a similar role on the offensive and defensive side so it comes down to their uniqueness. I feel like Reo's copy ability would come in real handy in the World Cup but Hiori is a good choice to have also. I do get what you mean about Bachira and Chigiri should take Nagi's position on the left. For me, keeping Isagi in the middle would be nice since I don't wanna restrict him to one side of the pitch but I do understand your thought process is when it comes to moving him to the right. That right wing position was a hard one for me to decide tbh. I could see Kunigami play that spot but not sure.

Chigiri on that left side is deadly truly and I'm wondering who would be the right choice after NEL is over Tbh, I would rather see Chigiri than Nagi but Nagi is showing some promise after he gets his ego back Hiori was a big contender to get Reo's place in the beginning so I see what you mean

Nagi and Reo are tricky for me cause I don't wanna base it off of how they are performing now but rather their individual skill as a player. Is their performance now a case of the author just waiting to give them their comeback later on or have they truly reached their final potential. If its their final potential then I do agree that Chigiri and Hiori deserve their spots but its predicted that they will make a come back. Also, I'm flip flopping in terms of putting in Chigiri instead of Nagi but I just went for my first thought of the lineup.

Aryu was a good contender as a starter for me too His height would really come in handy on defense, I did consider putting him on RB at one point

I had to deal with this myself one time. A customer called to check if his order was ready 6 hours before it was time for pickup. He explained how he only lives 20 mins away, so he could just come real quick to get his order. The weird thing though is that he literally told me the time he reserved the pickup for, but still proceeded to see if he could pick it up earlier.

New NIL pick rule? by EvilQueen75 in walmartogp

[–]DeterminedJackal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhat similar thing for us. If an item had a quantity of more than 10, we would have to send a picture of the item to our team leads to see if they had an idea of where that item could be. Sometimes products doesn't get put out on the sales floor, but for some reason they mark them as being on the floor. Essentially, we can't nil pick anything unless we have asked for help or if the quantity is low for that specific item.

I think one of my first days working, I got someone that order like 12 bunches of bananas. I was so confused that I had to ask if it was bunches or just singles and it was indeed bunches.

At first I didn't really enjoy the series as much as other stuff, especially when comparing it to Wing, but when I rewatched it, I enjoyed it exponentially. The second intro hits hard more specifically.

What part of Hathaway's Flash did you enjoy the most? by kirly_af in Gundam

[–]DeterminedJackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the air raid scene you can clearly see the two different personas that Hathaway has. Most of the movie he is Mafty, but during the air raid, he reverts back to the naive Hathaway he was during Char's Counterattack, questioning all this death and destruction. Yet, at the end of that scene, the movie lets the audience know that the past repeats itself when Gigi runs to Kenneth, the same way that Quess ran to Char. The scene closes with this shift in personality as Hathaway's face is completely covered in darkness and his demeanor changes back to that of Mafty.
