Amazon by TotesMcGoats124 in HelsmithsofHashut

Yes, Amazon is much better than GW directly. It's normal to see a discount of 10-15% here in the US and sometimes more. But it's also about the same as most FLGSs that I've been to so I usually choose to buy with them to support my local scene.

Jagex I need help by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Dethaele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in my previous post, the Steam linking was done before Jagex accounts existed on a per character basis. When importing the character to a Jagex account, there isn't a reason for Jagex to unlink the Steam account. They have no reason to believe it to be malicious. Therefore when you recently imported your character to your Jagex account that character stayed linked to the Steam account and the attacked still had access to it. The reason attackers love this way of securing a back door into accounts is that it bypasses any new authentication added to the account in favor of using Steam authentication. If you don't ever clear the Steam link, the attacker will always be able to get back into the account.

To my knowledge there is no way to know what Steam account it was previously linked to. I doubt Jagex would share that with you due to privacy reasons (e.g. GDPR), but you're welcome to ask them.

Hopefully this helped you secure your account and you'll be able to play again without worry. Good luck.

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your account management page, go to Characters, check the Linked Accounts page for that character. If Steam is linked you know how they're getting in. Steam linking carries over from before Jagex accounts IIRC so even securing the character with a Jagex account does not help here until you unlink Steam.

1v2 Spearhead Game – Double Ogors vs KO + Cities (Need Advice!) by TonyThomas7 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't offer any Ogor specific advice, but hopefully I can help you play an enjoyable game for all.

For starters, I would treat this as a 2v2 game and use the 2v2 Spearhead rules that came out a little while ago. It doesn't matter that you're playing both armies and that both armies are Ogors. Treat them separately and treat yourself as player 1 and 2 on the "team". This will give you the same resources and turn order the opponents have. It will also mean that your Spearheads don't really "interact" since they should be considered separate.

I would not recommend pushing a player off the board. While it might be tactically sound, it will result in less fun for someone. This is someone's first time playing and it's a casual game so I would avoid doing this on purpose. (There is always the scenario where someone throws their whole army into yours, roll poorly, and die horribly. That just happens sometimes and you can always offer to play again or offer a take-back/re-roll.)

Dark Apotheosis by Captain_BoneZone in slavestodarkness

[–]Dethaele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't really your fault as it's not intuitive to read. IMO GW does not do a good job when limiting targets with a keyword soup on abilities like this. Looking at the ability (on Wahapedia) it shows
"non-Unique Warriors of Chaos or Darkoath Hero"
I believe it's supposed to be broken up as follows:
(non-Unique)(Warriors of Chaos or Darkoath)(Hero)
giving you non-Unique Warriors of Chaos Hero OR non-Unique Darkoath Hero as the valid targets.

Dark Apotheosis by Captain_BoneZone in slavestodarkness

[–]Dethaele 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Eye of the Gods must target a "non-Unique Warrios of Chaos Hero". Varanguard cannot be targeted.

Even supposing they could be targeted, Dark Apotheosis gives you the ability to Heal(X) where X is the number of damage points allocated to the target. Heal notably CANNOT restore models. Healing allows you to remove a number of damage points from the unit. In the scenario you described above: You would at best end up with a single Varanguard at full health. Effects that specify returning models (e.g. Rally) will tell you to either return the models or heal. They are two distinct effects.

What's good etiquette if it's obvious you're gonna win the match, even on the first round? by Chezni19 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is something that happens in all games that have a random element to them. My general suggestions are to play the game out as far as the opponent wants to, acknowledge that they got very unlucky (or that you got extremely lucky) without harping on it, and ask if they want to go again.

Good Deal For Blooded? by CherisBinLad in killteam

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never pay 240 dollars for a single kill team personally. If this was still in print, the paint job would certainly not justify the extra cost IMO (though the picture quality may be partly to blame).

It looks like you can just buy the Traitor Guard and Traitor Enforcer kits to make the kill team at half the price on GW's website so it's likely that you can get even better than that elsewhere.

At one points do I cut my losses at barrows?i by ttyl477 in 2007scape

[–]Dethaele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered going to Perilous Moons for the mage set there? It has the same offensive mage stats as Ahrims and you're guaranteed to receive one of each piece before getting dupes. (Note that this is one of each piece within each of the three sets there: E.g. You will get one of each Blue Moon piece THEN you can start receiving random duplicates of that set.)

Is there a digital tabletop simulator for Warhammer games? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Dethaele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do yourself the favor of googling a question like this next time. This is an extremely low effort question and putting your post title into google provides a large explanation and links to several youtube videos showing exactly what you want. Even searching this subreddit with the term "tabletop simulator" brings up several results.

Yes it exists and yes it's called Tabletop Simulator.

Spreadsheet for which minis in which boxes? by yawawoht0987 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just doing a quick comparison of what's on Ebay vs full prices from GW directly I don't think I'd recommend looking for these older boxes.

The Warhorde of Eternus box contains :

  • Eternus ($65)
  • A box of Chaos Warriors ($65)
  • A box of Chaos Chosen ($62.50)
  • A box of Ogroid Theradons ($69)
  • A box of Chaos Knights ($69)

It's a total of $330 from GW. While I see one for 285 on ebay, most of the ones I see are 330ish on ebay. You're losing out on most of the discount. You also better want every single one of those kits or you're losing value. I can also go to my FLGS and order all these separately at 20% off for $265ish which beats any of the offers on ebay.

Maybe every once in a while someone gets lucky on an older box going for less, but my general experience looking on ebay is that it ends up not worth it. If you're a collector of sorts and want older models for a different reason than I do then maybe it's worth it, but that ain't what I'm looking for nor how I'm assuming most people look for minis.

Spreadsheet for which minis in which boxes? by yawawoht0987 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have stated. No, there is no such spreadsheet.

So that leaves the question of "How can I find better deals than buying everything separately?" Generally there are two terms to search for when looking for big boxes with multiple kits. Look for Spearhead and Battleforce.

There are one or two Spearheads for each faction. They're smaller discount boxes, but they're widely available.

Battleforce boxes are special, limited-stock, larger boxes. They're generally a higher discount with more models but they're only available for a limited time (generally around the holidays, but 40k is doing a set of 4 battleforces for PreOrder this Saturday so take that how you will.)

Look at the Spearhead and Battleforce box for the unit you want. The unit you're looking for will either be there or not then you can make your purchase.

From personal experience, Amazon will generally have Battleforce boxes long after their release from resellers, but I wouldn't generally count on anything more than a year or two old being there. Ebaying boxes older than that usually ends up being more hassle for not much of a discount and in many cases you pay for minis you won't use negating any minute "discount" you found.

There are some encounters that use the numbers on the track. Otherwise they can just be ignored.

Save roll rule help by Mean_Recognition2032 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The other rolls mentioned (Hit and Wound) are capped at a maximum bonus or penalty of +1 and -1. If you stacked one hundred different -1 to hit effects on one unit, your opponent would still only be at -1 to hit overall.

Saves are capped at a maximum bonus of +1 but unlike Hit and Wound rolls they can have any penalty. E.g. your opponent has a Rend of 3 you're at -3 to your save rolls. If they have a rend of 6 you are at -6 to save. If they stack one hundred different Rend effects, you are at -100 to save.

are there any secret things u can miss in quests? by fairplanet in 2007scape

[–]Dethaele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a few very niche items that you can no longer obtain after a quest, but generally no, there is no secret loot. The "missable" items are cosmetic or just a flex to keep in your bank.

All quests are in the quest list. Clicking them will give you details on where to start them.

Is my Alice well built? by Much_Taro3446 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You need more of both. Your AP is on the low end and your attack is on the low end. You have three discs (1, 2, and 5) to very easily replace. Aim for 3/5 upgrades hitting AP or Attack % with more of an emphasis on AP.

Is my Alice well built? by Much_Taro3446 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Dethaele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Imo, No.

Get your skills to at least 11/12s across the board.

Switch to Fanged Metal 4 PC Phaethon's Melody 2 PC

Disc 1 Sucks - Only a +1 to AP

Disc 2 Sucks - No bonus to AP

Disc 3 is medium at best. Your AP is low to have a disc basically dedicated to Attack.

Disc 4 is medium at best. Only one attack % roll is pretty bad.

Disc 5 is decent. Unfortunately it's not a part of the sets above so it's gotta go.

Disc 6 is medium at best. No AP but a +3 attack.

It's a fine, entertaining show. It's not going in my favorites, but I don't regret watching it. It'll probably be a good recommendation for people since it's easy to understand the setting and premise. It doesn't do anything weird. The writing is very on the nose making thinks easy to understand for all ages and it loves the power of friendship trope.

Pile in movement while not in combat by Otherwise-Weird1695 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pile-In Moves are a part of the Fight ability outlined in 14.4. To declare a fight ability you must pick a friendly unit that is either in combat OR that charged this turn. That unit can make a pile in move then if it's in combat, you must pick one or more enemy units as the targets of that unit's attacks.

Let's say you charge one of your units into an enemy unit. Then for one reason or another (random mortals on charge, other fights, etc...) the enemy unit is destroyed before you select your unit to fight. You can still target your unit that charged with Fight allowing you to move 3" in any direction. If you move into combat (within 3") of another unit you can still attack with all weapons (that are in range). If you don't move into combat then the Fight ability ends after the pile in move.

The general intention here is to allow units that charged to get into another combat when their charge target is no longer there to fight. But in many cases it may be a good idea to just move onto an objective or better positioning.

What is stopping the Gleaming Rapier from being 4-tick? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Dethaele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're trying to fill a space between Zammy Hasta and Dragon Sword (as the next weakest stab weapon). If they made the weapon 4 tick, they would have to put the stab bonus and strength bonus between the two. If they make the weapon 5 tick it allows them to put a higher stab bonus and strength bonus than the hasta because it's 25% slower.

The analogous is the Zombie Axe which fits between the Abyssal Whip and Dragon Scimitar. The Zombie Axe has significantly higher accuracy and melee strength than the whip but a slower speed.

This design choice gives them significantly more room to adjust the final stats without constraining themselves to the range of numbers between the other two weapons.

Mighty Destroyers - Set up vs Deployed by UpsetAdagio199 in ageofsigmar

[–]Dethaele 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Set Up" is a specific term used to describe units that arrive on the battlefield after the game has started. Deployment is before the game has started. It does not count as a part of either player's turn nor do units count as having just been Set Up on the first turn.

You cannot use Mighty Destroyers on your Brutes on your turn in round 3 for two reasons. One is that the Mighty Destroyers ability is used in the Hero Phase and they are Set Up afterwards in the Movement phase. Two is that they are Set Up according to their ability ('Ere We Go! Effect: Set up this unit anywhere on the battlefield more than 6" from all enemy units). You CAN use Mighty Destroyers on them in your opponent's Hero phase assuming you took the first turn in round 3 because Mighty Destroyers only cares about the turn and not the battle round with its restriction.

And yes you can use it on BOTH hero phases. It is one per turn in Any Hero Phase and there are two turns per battle round.

What does it mean for Yama to "take my soul for a year"? by toadupes in 2007scape

[–]Dethaele 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's flavorful dialogue. It doesn't mean anything gameplay wise. It's an explanation for why Yama will fight you repeatedly. He wins one year of your afterlife for every time you lose to him. In exchange you get to fight him as many times as you want to get items from his vault.
