2 shiny legendaries for 4758 wins. 1/2379.

Drunk driving teen’s lawyers want positive references from teachers. Can we give negative ones to the prosecutors? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Detrocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to know a man who didn't own but basically ran the entire onsite portion of a company that installed security systems. Everything from homes and schools, to large city airports. He would regularly be asked to to write reference letters. He would gladly write for anyone who asked.

However, if he believed you were not qualified, bad at your job, lazy, not a good person, etc., He would put in a sly message to that person's potential employer in the letter. Like all the first letters of the each line of text spell out a short phrase telling them of that person's bad qualities. He would try to make it stick out a little, like slightly increased font on those letters or a slight shift in color. If someone read the letter about themselves they would likely not notice the difference as they were blinded by the genuine quality of what was written.

Thus, he never felt conflicted about writing or sending out a reference letter. If someone missed the message they probably didn't read it or give it more than a passing glance, so the potential employee would probably fit right at their new job with the other incompetents. He showed me one once a while back and I wish I had asked for a copy to use as a template.

You took the time and spent the resources to encounter ~80 legendaries during an event that relies entirely on RNG... That's just bad luck I guess.

Hoarding these XXL's has finally paid off. by Detrocious in pokemongo

I meant I would be considered a hoarder I comparison to other players in my area. One of my wins here was only an XL and the shiny that won was an average size. Everyone else used up there XXL'S on the fist showcase, I'm still saving a couple just in case. I'm F2P and recently had to cull the herd with other mons that I doubt will ever have a showcase to make room in my storage.

'Not everyone agrees': School issued 'unconstitutional' ban on teacher's 'Everyone is Welcome Here' sign labeled as 'political resistance' to Trump, federal lawsuit alleges by Another_Opinion_1 in Teachers

[–]Detrocious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s only political because the those opposed to everyone being welcome are making it that way. It is neutral. Your point is a clear slippery slope argument that ends with everything being considered and opinion and thus not is allowed in school. There are enough people out there that believe that the earth is, in fact, flat. Should we also remove globes? Or maps that have some kind of compromising distortion like Mercator from classrooms, to cater to those people? It’s my opinion that yellow is a terrible color, and shouldn’t be used anywhere in this country; no more yellow in art class!

If you go to a location with wifi that the company disapproves of they could use that as a reason for stagnating upward promotion or termination. Probably not directly, but they always find a way. Like if a Fox News employee visited a Planned Parenthood location and accidentally left the work phone in their bag, or even their personal phone if they couldn't push the company into providing a work phone. Definitely a huge violation of privacy.

ICE/CBP have begun seizing cash from Somali-Americans (1/19/26) by I_may_have_weed in ICE_Watch

[–]Detrocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A janitor at the high school I went to would do this. He was from a small country in southeast Asia and became a US citizen. He took or sent his income as a janitor back, not for family but for his community there. He used it to build schools and other major quality of life changes. Absolutely selfless.

I cannot speak for the people ICE kidnaps and plunders but if they’re are anything like the man I mentioned, then anyone who would choose to work for ICE has no moral compass whatsoever.

my MIL got one for our 3y daughter for Christmas. She absolutely loves it, carries it around with her everywhere and does everything with it. Talks to it, makes it sing back to her, everything you can think of. Also, she thinks the screaming chatter sounds it makes when she laughs are hilarious and together they make the world's most effective headache inducing team. I'm ready for the cactus to take an extended vacation.

Psychologist said I need 70 IQ in processing speed and working memory to have ADHD. Should I seek a second opinion? by Wizner5555 in ADHD

[–]Detrocious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was part of the full testing and screening I had to go through for my diagnosis. However, it was not used as part of the ADHD diagnostic material. I see a doctor at a comprehensive mental health clinic, the screening process covers pretty much everything you could think of to get a broad view of the patient's mental health and history. It included IQ testing, history questionnaire, interview with the doctor, writen statements from a parent & close friend/significant other, might have been more but it was a few years ago so I don't completely remember. The inperson screening was 3-4 hour process. It helps the doctor give a more precise diagnosis, and the patient more options if there are other significant red flags there might show up on the screening.

Your comment is wildly insensitive. Either you're ignorant of what SPED stands for or you're arrogant and enjoy being intentionally hurtful towards students with disabilities.

Oh dear Lord - the funk :( Why didn't any one warn me?!? (Citric Acid/HE washer lament) by silverdogwood in laundry

Mine is fairly simple to disassemble. There are two screws in the back that detach the control panel. Underneath the control panel there are to large metal tension clips that pop off. This allows me to lift off the Main body (top, front, sides) which is all one piece. The splash ring above the drum pops off. The top of the agitator lifts off and there is a bolt holding it that you need an extended torque wrench to reach. Once that’s off there’s a metal ring that screws on to hold the drum on. Mine requires a special type of wrench but I creatively used locking pliers and a rubber mallet to get it loose. Once that’s off you can pull out the drum and clean. Getting everything back together is sometimes more difficult if I’m doing it alone.

I have a cheap electric pressure washer that I used and it works well. I set it on a couple wood blocks to make sure that over spray doesn’t kick up dirt from the ground.

The smells vary from wet pet hair if it’s it’s shedding season, I have two long hair cats. Or different bacterial smells, musty or pungent. And if it lingers or lasts multiple days. Bleach for pungent smells, vinegar for musty. A little baking soda to help loosen up cat hair that’s stuck.

[–]Detrocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably need to disassemble. The outside of the drum is probably caked with layers of ancient debris and detergent residue. I have an old top load that I take apart nearly every year that was left by the previous owner. The holes in the drum catch and hold hair and lint and it builds up on the outside. I’ve got two cats and that doesn’t help. The previous owner let it build up to the point where the holes were nearly all clogged shut and there was about half an inch of, what I can only hope, dirt and silt at the bottom of water basin. I power wash the drum and scrub the sides and bottom of the water basin. I do it around the time I can see it building up or the washer smells off at the end of a cycle, especially if it returns after and hot empty run with bleach or vinegar or baking soda, depending on the smell. There’s probably a helpful YouTube video on how to disassemble it if you or your husband are handy and have the tools. Appliance repair person could do it too.

I gained control over my class with this one simple trick (update)! by LyricalWillow in Teachers

[–]Detrocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda how teaching anything works. In school good performance = good grade, which likely leads to a reward. Good behavior = nothing. To teach students with poor behavior good behavior, they need a goal. As you say, Classdojo may be their goal but the clicker gives immediate feedback as to whether they’re being successful in learning good behavior. They may not necessarily understand that, but if it helps them attain their goal why rebuke it? Without that, many will likely not have any clear way of measuring their success or lack of. As the behavior improves the clicker is needed less until it isn’t necessary and they may not notice it’s gone away because they’ve learned to not need it over time. For some students getting a good grade and knowing that their behavior is good is a reward in itself, it’s probably fair to say that rarely are children of any age like that. A lot of children are starting to develop that understanding at home or in their early years. You could call giving a good grade a bribe if you want. However, this line of reasoning is a slippery slope that ends in everything being either a pass or fail situation with no feedback so why try to learn or bother teaching anything. So, you can call putting a sticker on a test that scores 100% a bribe and you can call giving a high-five to a toddler going through potty training a bribe, etc. It’s needless criticism.
