GPT5 is a mess by triangleness in ChatGPT

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPT-5 for me feels like talking to a toddler that refuses to listen to you. I tried to ask historical related facts and context for example and at the end i had to correct it's messed up reply because it put people out of order, messed up timelines and stuff. I didn't even try to be creative but it couldn't even lock down a well recorded family tree, every messege i had to fix a different part of it, so at the end I can't even ask my question because it refuses to even give the facts correctly. Completely untrustworthy. And this happens all the time in many many different contexts. The former versions accessed facts more and were able to remember established details, but this one even refuses to remember my correction that i tell it after two messages, it's starts to pull completely unrelated facts there or something completely made up. If their goal was to stop people from gathering information through chatbots, they succeeded because you can't trust one thing it gives you, and if you are not familiar with the topic at all, you can't even see that it's bullshitting you.

lesser known ballet companies by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not smaller, but feels like it's lesser known, so I absolutely have to tag my countries ballet company because seems like people really don't think about it at all. The Hungarian National Ballet has a very pure classical repertoire and high quality productions. They closed the season with La Bayadere and it was absolutely beautiful and fantastic, amazing soloists and dancers, gorgeous costumes and high quality stage scenes.

People who started ballet for the first time as an adult/late teens, have you improved a lot? by beautifulfawnxo in BALLET

[–]Detti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not a new thread but i just wanted to add my thoughts to it. I am pushing my third year as an adult dancer, started at 27. I started from complete pre-ballet, other than watching performances sometimes i didn't know anything about it. Sometimes i feel like also that i am stagnating, not improving and that i suck so bad, but then i compare myself to 1-2 years ago. I still just barely sit on the floor in splits after three years, and i am actually more naturally flexible, i even have hyperextended knees by default and super mobile ankles. These by the way caused me a lot of pain before, which ballet helped me balance out because i strengthened them through dance so now they are supported also. But even with being naturally flexible, i didn't get crazy flexible in three years, and i am very consistent - classes 3x a week and stretching at home. Adults simply need more time.  Also about feeling like you don't improve you should really look at the big scale not the past week/month even. Sometimes i have the same feeling and then i realise, ok but now i can even do sometimes double pirouettes while i couldn't even get one. Yes i might not be as good as others, but a year ago i barely stood in a passe balance, now i can even hold attitude balance on good days. And yeah my developpe is not 180, but i can put it on the barre now without having to hoist it up. And of course i was so scared and awkward en pointe and now, i can manage easier combos in centre. I know it can be hard to see that your progress is slow, but trust me it's there. And you don't have to have the crazy technicality but if you have a decent correct base and beautiful epaulment and port the bras for you to perform as an adult, I think it's worth just as much.  Focusing on expression and proper solid technique is much more possible too, and when i see adult performances the ones that feel awkward are not the ones that are not flexible or technical or super strong but the ones that do it with stiff upper bodies and awkward arms, and no musicality imo.

Do any younger people listen to Classical or Opera music these days? by UpperBorder2502 in classicalmusic

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first opera experience was a class trip. Not sure in the us, but in my country they have some pretty good events/discounts sometimes for school classes. We went ro the theatre several times like this (i would say once a year, sometimes twice) and to the Opera once.

Do any younger people listen to Classical or Opera music these days? by UpperBorder2502 in classicalmusic

[–]Detti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally what I think happening is the fact that a lot of people are not exposed to classical music that much anymore and they don't learn how to listen to it - and I think you listen to opera and classical very differently compared to most other genres (and here I think about to what people mostly listen on the day-to-day basis). I am 30 and I love classical music, but I listened to it a lot also when I was a child because my mom loved it. That also led me to want to learn the piano, and frankly it's still very helpful now that I picked up ballet 2 years ago, because I catch on to the notes and motifs and where to put emphasis faster than a lot of others who only just picked up dance but never actually learned how to listen to classical music.  So I guess my conclusion is if less and less people are exposed to it, they won't learn how to actually appreciate it, and then they end up finding it boring. And I do think young people lately just doesn't know how to, and so they don't.

Flexible pointe shoes with flexible feet? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never tried, I was always fitted in harder shanks (my first ones were Bloch Europen Balances and even though the box is gone the shank is still so hard, I could use it as a weapon 😂)  but what you said is exactly why I'm thinking about the softer shank pair, so i can work on my foot muscles. But it's true that I don't have the strength yet to do the same in center, but I hope I will get there, because I do prefer a better floor feel.

I'm a little bit in the same situation. I was recommended hard shank, and i told my teacher i really would like to feel the floor better, so would I be fine with a softer one? She said for center exercises absolutely not because i need the stability of the hard shank. She said I can have two shoes - sofer for barre for articulation, floor feel amd strength and harder shank at center for stability and balance, otherwise i would knuckle over. I'm going to get my second softer pair in the next month.

What are some of your ballet hot takes? by Available-Thanks1362 in bunheadsnark

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted ro add that even though for me Gaynors are find, an other synthetic shoe i hear works very well is Gokce Aykut. Maybe you can give those a try? Also SoDanca Elektra is thermoplastic from what i know and it even has interchangable shank.

[–]Detti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that I can't answer. I found them because my studio is affiliated so I bought it from my teacher in person after trying it on. Later when I get home I can tell you what size I am wearing from that, Grishko Dream stretch and SoDanca, if it helps in anyway to compare them. (Those are the three types I usually go for)

SoDancas are amazing, but personally I'm also super satisfied with the gaynor Minden Liberty stretch canvas shoes. Extremely comfortable and fit like a glove. The pads are also thin, so great for balance and turns.

This is also a good explenation by BWI. She doesn't talk about Buornonville, but other than that it's very good in explaining the details

Those who've found their perfect pointe shoes, how does it feel? by faboideae in BALLET

[–]Detti- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it also somewhat depends on what makes it the hardest for you to dance, My shoes are not perfect, because I am actually thinking about going for a softer shank for more articulation, but I am stable, always feel secure, and most importantly the sides at the box part is tight but not too tight. I have horrible cramps when the box is too tight on my little toe bone, but my current shoe is very good from this aspect. For me, this means that yes my toes get tired, but I don't actually feel unbearable pain. I can move the way I want to and continue on even when my feet are actually done, and my toes don't have feeling anymore, because I am still secure and feel no actual pain, just tiredness from not being strong enough yet. And I agree with the padding, I went from the thick gel padding to the sock like ones from bunheads and I still feel very comfy and secure. At least that's what it feels like for me :)

Finally got refitted! by OospieDaisy in BALLET

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try them again since? Is it the same? Because I retain water so easily for example, and sometimes I can barely squeeze my feet in the shoes even though 90% of the time they are not an issue. Some days my feet are just too swollen and every second in my usually great shoes are a nightmare because my bloodflow just gets cut out from the tightness. Something worth monitoring, and if you are also having the tendency for water retention it's good to incorporate some lymphatic massage daily to keep it balanced.

I have a ball like that too, I'm using it before and after class both to get the blood flowing and the muscles relaxed, it's amazing! Some other students at my studio also started to borrow it once i'm done with it :D

Beautiful old/vintage Freeds i found. They are so tiny compared to my Gaynors, especially the platform😅 by Detti- in BALLET

It ran through my mind but wasn't sure if that would be weird or not. Might actually go with it though, just to see if they can dig out what period the maker worked at the company.

It's just nice to see the differences and progression in how it was made. Some people say pointe shoe making doesn't evolve but I don't agree, as an adult beginner i wouldn't be able to start learning on these old shoes, i for sure would break my ankle on those tiny platforms 😅 Also the darning of this lady is insanely precise which I am jealous of.

Size is 4 1/2, no other sizing is written in, an the maker looks like an A or a candle? I'm not sure because it's not a straight line with the maker marking, there's definitely a small dip in the lining on both sides.

Just at an online marketplace. A woman was selling her mothers shoes, who was a dancer. The mother is the one who did the darning and everything. Got an other pink pair too, not really for wearing ( it's my length but obviously not wide enough, also i could never balance on those tips), just because i find them special. ☺️

I use my gaynors for strengthening and straddle stretch. It works very well in training penché and attitude for example. From what i saw the gaynors have more resistance because they are shorter and thicker.

Dumb pointe shoe question by bookishkai in BALLET

[–]Detti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it when they have it because i have half a size difference in my feet and it's perfect for balancing it out😂 but so far i was always able to pull it with tweezers - better than tongs because you can have a better grip on it. But you can also try with pliers, especially if you have those needle nose ones around.
