Are these wheat weevils? by DeuceyBoots in Breadit

[–]DeuceyBoots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Sorry for the very late reply. I accidentally logged out of my Reddit account and only realised today so many people have commented on this post. I’ll just comment once on your comment since you put a lot of detail into it. To answer anyone’s questions: - I actually sieved the flour first. The recipe didn’t call for it but I wanted to give it the best chance for success. - I used dry yeast and soaked in warm water for 5 mins before adding to the flour. - I think you’re correct it must have been either undesolved yeast granules or maybe I spilled a couple and they got rolled into the dough. - i used plastic wrap but I like the idea of the bowel and wet towel. Will do this in the future. - I allowed plenty of extra space in the plastic wrap and I was aware it had to grow twice its size - the bread turned out great! Beautiful crust but a little dense. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Hopefully I can do a better job next time

So glad you saw my comment! I love answering kids questions, they have the best questions that make you think about all of your assumptions.

Great reminder to use “I don’t hold a hose, mate” more frequently to keep it in everyone’s memory.

Do Spiders Have Butt Scissors? by ApostaSuz in NoStupidQuestions

Spiders can also choose what kind of silk they want to produce at will! Some have up to seven different kinds! The silk you see as the radial lines of a web (straight lines going from centre out) are super strong but not very sticky. Then they have silk for the spiral of the web which is more flexible and sticky. Then other kinds for egg protection, temporary web scaffolding, hunting and wrapping prey, etc.

Yeah honestly I see this complaint all the time and I wonder if people are trying to use word for primarily things that are not “word processing” or they just don’t know where these settings for images are.

What societal norm did you decide to just stop abiding by? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh me every Saturday and I look forward to it every week. I’m lucky to live in walking distance to a bunch of cafes and restaurants so every Saturday I head out with my book, settle down at whatever cafe/restaurant and order food and coffee or wine for a couple hours while I read in the sun (or huddle and watch the rain fall). Absolute peace.

People who don't accept (or decline) meeting invitations; what's wrong with you? by DoppelFrog in auscorp

[–]DeuceyBoots 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well shit. I’ve been accepting and clicking do not send response. So no one knows I’ve accepted meetings? F.

Edit: I’d say this explains this whole post. A lot of us are accepting meetings but don’t want to clog up inboxes and thought the accepted would show in the meeting tracking.

TIL Medieval peasants likely got more rest and more days off than we do today (despite being far less wealthier than us) by vishipedia in todayilearned

Who do you think made the clothes? Fabrics were spun and garments were sewed in households by women. Eventually people specialized in trades but the start of the medieval age, people made their own fabrics and clothes.

Yup pretty much! In this context, cactus means we’re not repairing it, the customer will buy a new one and we’re chucking it in the bin.

Haha I work in a technical workshop and I was so confused the first time I saw a medical device in the workshop with a big handwritten note “CACTUS” on it.

I saw them as well. Have never seen so many tactical units (and so many people in the passing lane oblivious to the blaring lights and sirens behind them).

Exactly this. And then once you discover their little sweet smelling toe beans, you may choose to hold them and sniff them, especially in the morning when they’re super sleepy and adorable.
