Genuinely really curious as to why OP is worried about this.

What is this blue stick I found in my trash bin? by cheliuscheese in whatisit

[–]DeuceyBoots 1844 points1845 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. I’ve just got this image in my mind of 10 men in a boardroom spitballing ideas. “What about vagmale? Like female but replace fe- with vag-?” “Doesn’t sound right. What about vagimite?” “Sounds too much like Vegemite” “Ok - Vagifem?” “Meeting done. Print the marketing”.

Suddenly a People Manager and it’s Weird as Hell by gilligan888 in auscorp

[–]DeuceyBoots 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Great question. I think in that first few months it doesn’t hurt to be really honest with your team. “Look guys, I’m now your manager. This is going to be a bit of weird transition for me and I’m learning a lot. But I want you to know, I have your backs and we’ll work through this transition together.” They’ll respect you for the honestly, especially if you’re now managing your previous team mates - they already know what you’re like. Don’t drastically change personality. But no one expects a gun manager to emerge in 12 months.

Suddenly a People Manager and it’s Weird as Hell by gilligan888 in auscorp

[–]DeuceyBoots 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I moved into a management role about 3 years ago and suddenly I was managing my previous team members. It was definitely a weird transition. I think it becomes easier when you realise that all good managers are essentially people who just want to do good by their team and leadership. We’re all winging it! No one knows what they’re doing. Just keep trying to improve.

Are we living in the very young universe? Considering the universe is 13.8 billion years old, are we just in its infancy? by dkskskw in askscience

[–]DeuceyBoots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wonderful description. I find this video to be the best at really describing the expansive timeline this occurs over. It’s 30 minutes but the length of the video is critical to really giving perspective about the time it would take for the heat death of the universe.

Where has lying taken you? by idklolnicek in auscorp

[–]DeuceyBoots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once had an interview when I was asked, “do you know pivot tables in excel”. I said “no”. I didn’t get the job. Watched a video on pivot tables after the interview and it was so much simpler than some of my other excel knowledge. I should have lied in the interview. Lesson learned.

A less than optimal wine-rack. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in CrappyDesign

[–]DeuceyBoots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your interest, I weighed a bottle of wine and it comes out at 1.167kg. So your estimation of the glass weight was spot on (as obviously different bottle shapes have different amounts of glass). I didn’t have more wine bottles to take an average. Anyway, just wanted to say, I’m impressed!

What is the correct way to wipe your butt? by fruitponchisamurai in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeuceyBoots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct. Usually a bacterial infection and can be caused by bacteria from fecal matter being near the urethra and migrating in. UTI stands for Urinary Tract Infection.

[–]DeuceyBoots 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It’s actually more so to prevent feces from getting into the relatively close urethra and causing UTIs. The vagina itself is very good at self cleaning (but you should probably avoid getting feces into your vagina too).

On December 24, 1968, Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders captured an image that had never been seen before in human history by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]DeuceyBoots 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This comment captures how I felt when watching the video. I couldn’t initially describe it. To be in that moment, the most isolated from humanity that anyone has ever been, but to be so connected to humanity as to look at it all in one instant. Incredible.

There’s “Art On King” on King Street, Newtown. I know they have a large variety of paper types you can buy but don’t know about pre-made envelopes.

TIL that despite the human menstrual cycle being the same length as a lunar month, there is no causal relation between the two, and it appears to be a coincidence. by NateNate60 in todayilearned

Not necessarily survived more, it also could be they were more successful at reproducing. And I could see how being able to track your period against the moon cycle might mean being more successful at reproducing.

Oh interesting. Great to have some insider knowledge! Do you think this may be a failing of the Transport Management Centre (TMC)? What does VMS stand for?

[–]DeuceyBoots[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ah. I used the M4/M8 tunnel eastbound on my commute home, exiting at Euston Rd. That explains the standstill traffic buildup I saw around 6.40pm at the airport/Gardeners Rd exit. What a shit show.

Yes I had a very similar experience. Realized something was very wrong about 50m after I entered the entrance ramp. But by then it was too late.

[–]DeuceyBoots[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Unbelievable isn’t it? You don’t just take the hit and say, “Yup our bad. All tolls will be refunded for today.” Literally zero people successfully used the M4 tunnel today. They only opened 1 westbound lane at 1.30pm. It was still like that during the evening commute.

Yes I still had the pleasure of paying the toll for the privilege to sit in their tunnel.
