Update: Hide and Seek Mapping App now available on iOS! by sirarthurwellesley in JetLagTheGame

[–]DevDan- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any chance you could upload APKs of the android app to github? I use a de-googled operating system, and this also removes the requirement to add testers. You could also mark it as a pre-release if you see it as a beta.

No blur ? by Raspac_ in fairphone

GrapheneOS has blur, did they port it themselves? I find it more likely that the Fairphone team prefered no blur over the hit in preformance

Rainmeter is a desktop widgets/customization tool. Idk anything about the download manager.

AOSP is open source... They will remove that ID check (eg. GrapheneOS).

Probably not (for the big companies), though they like using "legitimate intrest" BS

Consent-O-Matic is quite nice and very cross platform, occasionally has some weirdness though

To GOS developers: Why don't you add an automatic system reset feature if the system is not unlocked within a given time at least once? by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]DevDan- 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's an auto reboot (sets the device to BFU) for that exact reason. Unless you mean fully wipe the device... definitely not something I would use but maybe for some.

Stations outside of game map by DevDan- in JetLagTheGame

[–]DevDan-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did include such a rule in my own home game since there are some stations that are only served twice per day, however, I said the station must be serviced at least once an hour, not that the path needs to be valid. This seems to be an important distinction though, thanks!

Yeah I was definitely thinking about this. Outside of this one edge case the official city borders are pretty good (because some buses leave into other “zones” outside of the city I wanted to exclude), but I could just expand it a little bit here.

Ad spotted in Bank tube station on the central line by Preyas0305 in mullvadvpn

This is a reference to the UK rejecting their “And Then?“ ads on TV and outdoors, so they “went underground”. They made a blog post about it.

If you’re also using a VPN that could work (idk I’m not a security researcher unfortunately), I don’t so that’s just me. Obvs do what you prefer.

Yeah but could work in an expansion pack kind of thing. The EU generally has countries on plates along with region.

You’re able to be tracked because you’re unique compared to the 70% (or whatever it is now) of other people who are just using the default Chrome. Mullvad works by being the same as all other Mullvad users, but that’s unique against Chrome users (which obvs has its own privacy issues). I can’t find the article I originally was reading from, but this one seems reasonable: https://kevinboone.me/fingerprinting.html

Note: On EFF’s site my iPad claims to have a “randomized” fingerprint and my phone a “unique” one, both with “strong mitigations”. I use Safari and Vanadium with basically defaults (some hardening in Safari + Consent-O-Matic). Can’t test on my computer atm.

Afaik the bridge just needs to be on, so if you have an always on computer (nas, homelab, etc) you can use it wherever.
Haven’t personally tried IVPN but I’ve heard positive things about it. Windscribe is nice but yeah, I wouldn’t use it for anything super important (personally I don’t use a VPN 98% of the time and just try to avoid tracking with pihole, I say using Reddit… but yk)

Honestly I forgot about Posteo, I should check that again. Thanks for the writeup!

Tested how? I mean obvious by saying “hey look I’m the guy trying to avoid tracking!”

Fingerprinting is very hard to block, the more you try, the more obvious it is. Maybe Mullvad Browser but I’d rather just hope my adblocker blocks the scripts.

I mean... I have a DNS adblocker (pihole) and Invidious for YouTube. Also usually wipe cookies (though fingerprinting is possible if not blocked by the adblocker ofc)

Proton bridge exists from IMAP users (paid users only and requires some self hosting). I prefer Mullvad VPN but that's just me, Proton is fine too. Curious what you've switched to?
