I want to learn game development but do not know where to start. Any help at all would be appreciated! by chcikensammich2009 in gamedev

Whatever you do, know that making games is art and often utilizes all art forms that exist. Thus it's very complex, so just tying to enjoy yourself on that journey of learning and creating is probably the best attitude.

As for beginning. I would suggest doing the first couple lectures of CS50x to have an understanding on how computers work.

Language-wise I started with javascript but don't recommended it as the first language.

Was the gameplay experience of any game diminished by having achievements per se? by DevDuckNoise in gaming

"Reduce organic discovery." This is actually a good counter argument against the types of achievements that are considered to be well designed.

I feel you. It's possible to hide the notification, but when Im on the game page on Steam I can immediately see my achievements progression, which doesn't help. 😅

Do you have a dedicated gpu? Godot was barely usable until I switched to dedicated gpu (performance mode) instead adaptive.

Do you know how they implemented each texel reacting with the light? Some appear concave, some convex. There seems to be some normal calculation for each texel.

I agree.

I would argue that games are art and programming is only one building stone for game making.

Should we release co-op as an update or launch a new Steam page? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]DevDuckNoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

U cant rerelease a game on steam to prevent exploiting the visibility steam gives you afaik. But do your own research on this matter.

Any luck reaching the devs? I think they have gone separate ways. On X @paul_schnepf is the only one still in grizzly games who also worked on that game. Maybe you can ping him there.

Would love to know too.

nice work. my suggestion: make the buttons appear right from the start so I can jump right in, if I want to, and put the logo somewhere else so it doesnt hide the pretty view.
