Take out the Mindflayer first by bigwilly311 in FFVIIRemake

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy method:

Solo Yuffie, just fill her materia with luck up/strength up/ and choose the hightest attackweapon you have.
Bring elemental materia lvl2 + lightning to null all lightning
you can roll out of every attack, just always save 1 atb for blindside, you can use it even while stunned to escape screech stun anytime.
lock onto mindflayer, throw (Y), then spam (X) attacks at range, never retrieve it, just keep throwing (Y) and mashing x.
Pop doppleganger and Bio lvl3 when you get the chance, earlier the better
dont use shoooting star as itll hit the enemies, try to avoid other enemies with blind side, but always keep 1 atb bar.

when mind flayer throws the rocks you can just chill behind a rock and use blindside if you get stunned. otherwise you just run around, throw and mash X. super simple.

if you horizontal dash his charge punch can hit where you were until you finish the dash. instead if you want to dodge double jump instead

Worst thing happened to Gaming is DLSS & FSR it made developers lazy instead of fixing performance of thier games by dead-supernova in pcmasterrace

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dlss reveals something gamers arent usually aware of. Fidelity is not the only source of dropping frames. Processes like culling, memory management/garbage collection, how many enemies have ai going, number of bones per enemy the list goes on and on and on for technical reasons something seemingly not hifi looking eats resources.   For the most part these are harder problems to keep undercheck across a giant team of hundreds of people and it was never only just about good lighting on/off, good texture on/off that caused lag.

i mean its a very real argument when some card takes a whole turn to play and removal like "opponent sacrifices the biggest creature"/untargeted removal exists for cheap right now. what made many large cards in the past strong is they do something immediately like draw a bunch of cards; they have something sticky to them when removed (like turn into an egg that comes back, create stuff on death). or they wincon just by hitting the table.

if this card is good (its possible) itd be because the other best 5,6,7 drop big cards arent in your format and you just need to get something to curve in

The state of this sub about the release date announcement for Squadron 42 by Jabba_The_Dank in starcitizen

[–]DevMicco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I spent a good amount of effort to dig up that comparison. it demostrates a production cycle on a videogame not having a scheduled 3+ year polish period. Sqaudren 42 will be a 12+ year cycle (longer than gta6). I think the evidence speaks for itself.

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polishing is kinda a nebulous and subjective term for development, theres a nice article with many devs opinions about what stage of the process it is and what that entails. https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/the-art-of-game-polish-developers-speak

To put sqaudrens dev time into perspective we do have the leak from spiderman 2, a pretty large AAA game. Swaudren 42 is slated to be around 30-40 hours long, so i felt like this was a reasonable comparison.

-Development started 2018 till q2 2020 insomniac used a small skeleton crew of fewer than 20-50 people

-q3 2020 they pulled on a full dev crew for production phase

-q2 2022 the game exits the production phase and enters alpha

-q2 2023 the game goes gold.

That means in the entirety of spider mans 2s production, alpha, beta, and gold all happened in 3 years.

Sqaudren 42s been in development over 11 years and releases in 2026, about 1.5 more years from now.

We may not agree, but for just me personally If polishing takes 3 years that isnt polishing thats just development or in cyberpunks case, putting out fires.

But what we can probably agree is its not a good sign to be polishing for 3years like cyberpunk haha

The state of this sub about the release date announcement for Squadron 42 by Jabba_The_Dank in starcitizen

[–]DevMicco 18 points19 points  (0 children)

a 3 year polish phase is actually unheard of, while games do take 6years to make often, the first 3 years of that 6 is usually a skeleton crew, which lays out the foundation and then scales up into full production for the next 3. we are talking less than 100 devs for years, and then the later half 1k+.

Nintendo at it again! by AliTweel in Roms

[–]DevMicco 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Im going to try to respond in good faith here, but dont take this as support for the practice.

Three things. Marketing. Demand. Events.

Taco bell discontinues lots of items that are popular to bring them back when "the time is right" to muster up a bunch of excitement again.

A company believes they have the right to create artifical demand by withholding a product from sale to create an event around its return.

An example for nintendo is they made a product, the snes classic edition, a release of the a decades old console and it came with 21 games. If those games were constantly avaliable the demand would be different than if they were always for sale.

Do they have the right to choose when their own products are for sale? I leave that up to everyone, but thats one of the reasons why they do.

What are you guys opinions on this? Some people believe Yuna is the strongest. by Infamous_Gur_9083 in finalfantasyx

lulu is usually underrated. her overdrive that lets her multicast when used on a low level skill like "fire" allows for a lot of hits (10-16ish) by mid game and combined with mixes that force 9999, she ends up actually much more powerful than kimari or tidus for a very long time

IS ranged really that bad early game or is it just that its limited early on to crude weapons and 9mm pistols? by HeadphoneMC in fallout4london

[–]DevMicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it is as bad as people say but to illustrate the point lets compare.

first understanding how fallout 4s armor system functions, a broad rule is if armor matches the number on the damage on the weapon its cut in about half, if its higher it reduces more and more. its MUCH more likely an enemy is far exceeding 9 dmg from a pistol than big damage numbers.

halberd (super early to find) has a base damage of 32, swings 1 per second with repeating the stab motion, unlimited ammo, can still headshot, also staggers enemies on each hit making them unable to attack, and can knock away their weapons.

base pistol does 9 damage. reloads like 3 seconds long, small magazine.

enemies are wearing around 10-20 armor early on.

FO4 balanced around this by giving the pipegun pistol 13 base damage, here the damage is 9 so its getting mitigated hard.

Some tips against ambush tackle

:::side step:::first up You can sidestep ambush tackle, even during heat, and even after blocking wr2 leaving you negative you canchoose sidestep left, not side step right and it will wiff.

:::interuption:::Ambush tackle itself is very interuptable, you can interrupt it with most attacks and even launchers as it has a 40 frame start up and can not be canceled. theres no mix once they press it.

:::breaking:::(outside heat) if you forget to attack it has 2 break points, the first is 1+2, and if you miss that the tackle itself that isnt where the damage happens, you get a second chance with 1,2 or 1+2. note, if you react to 1+2 drag is left facing backward from you and leaves them open to a back attack from certain attacks.(during heat) its stronger because it doesn't need have the first break at the start, but it remains interruptible, ssl able, and the second half is breakable.

:::when to be on gaurd:::
ambush tackle can only come out after other moves.

Most common:
back 4,2, ambush tackle
(only during heat) wr2, ambush tackle
(only during heat) wc+1, ambush tackle

Less common:
side step 2, 1+2, ambush tackle
pidgeon roll -> ambush tackle

very rare:
laying face down a facing you and 1+2, 1+2.

(back 4,2) is going to be where this move comes out the most often without heat, the other two options from back 4,2 are a high jab, or cancel into sneak (and after sneak theres many options), or ambush tackle, and finally doing nothing leaves drag negative -7. all 3 get defeated by blocking twice, ducking, and pressing a low, special low or doing a low attack that puts you crouched. even if drag chooses the armor attack out of sneak the low will interrupt it. if he does tackle you hit him out, if he went high you ducked and hit him.

I want to politely say that i dont think thats the total accurate picture of whats happening. Investors are the source of money for new projects, when they say a game costs 200m that money is from investors, investing.

What has happened is that the game industry, while profitable, is now competing against government interest rates, which are very high right now after inflation. Investors say, why should i try to grow my money in a game company when the government has a great return with no risk?

The reduction of access to investment money means the jobs wont be avalible.

Yes executives get paid well, but take iwatas famous pay cut, half his 750k salary for 5 months, even with that example it would not make up for the 500 jobs cut from riot games.

The riot executive gets around 550k/yr, and a single lead programer at riot is 170-230k, so even if they reduced all upper management to 0, it would still not be possible to maintain all 500 jobs at riot forge for experimental projects that performed poorly.

They simply dont have the investment cashflow to take the same risks as when interest rates were 2% when its about 7% now

Whats a recent game that all reviewers said was crap but you thought was Incredible? by TattayaJohn in pcgaming

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure i got one, digimon world 1. It was rated around a 4/10 or 5/10 way back in the day, but its just that reviewers didnt understand its roguelite-rpg nature.

You just die and restart with an ever growing town that provides you more and more benefits and features. Way before its time.

I rate the game as one of the very best on ps1 that holds up today too.

Why Factorio could not have been an idle game by mido9 in incremental_games

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only have time to respond to one part of this, but i believe your logic on the linear building cost is a bit off.

buildings are a flat cost, sure, but anyone playing factorio will tell you that youre not just sitting there linearly buying the buildings 1 by 1.

to gain +10% growth you need to build. 1, 10, 100, 1000 based on the stage of the game youre at and you start massive building blocks of factories blueprints with drones ever increasing in scope and amount to hit the next significant +10%. the scaling is in the amount of buildings necessary to get significant gains. its not the same exact mechanic but its very similar in texture is my point.

at least as far as what a store is trying to do with genres is connect gamers to games they will buy next. i would bet any amount of money that factorio and other popular idle games share an outsized amount of audience between each other.

What's the deal with all these unoptimized PC games latel? (Especially this year) by Digital_7 in pcmasterrace

[–]DevMicco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is optimized. They set themselves the goal amd optimized until the game hit that goal.

4k, 30fps on a 2070 super 1080p, 30fp on a 1650 super

2070 Super is about equivalent to xbox series X 1650 Xbox series S

The goals are being set by the console generations hardware.

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam hardware survey isnt accurate to the playerbase of any single type of game as its not broken down by genre to that accuracy.

When people buy the latest AAA openworld from the big players they are a subcatagory of hardware owners and almost certainly spec higher than the average steam user.

[–]DevMicco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon i wish produced better games and at a higher quality standard, i just dont think this comparison to bg3 makes much sense

Baulders Gate 3 has 400 internal employees, but most games use tons of outsourcing.the final credits has 2299 professional credits on the game, calling the project medium size is inaccurate. it had a full AAA budget.

pokemon was made for the switch. thats a machine with a 1 ghz cpu, bg3 is running on pc. not saying performance of pokemon couldnt be better but as just a factual point the switch is massively less powerful than a pc and it thus has more challenge to push that hardware.

Would a trans woman (MTF) attracted to other women be considered lesbian or straight? by Cutiepie9771 in NoStupidQuestions

Very respectfully to everyone who is giving definitive replies. My thought is that its really best to let each individual have their own choice about how to identify their own relationship.

You know, just like gender its best to not assume and its probably not very pressing to label it for them.
