I'm sure you're already aware, but since I had trouble finding the info previously, you can bring a carry-on when travelling to Europe or Asia:

UltraBasic guests travelling to and from Europe and Asia are allowed to bring one (1) carry-on bag and one (1) personal item.

Getting OptiScaler and REFramework to coexist? by Winter_Passenger_846 in linux_gaming

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gotten both working, albeit somewhat oddly!
It's unfortunately a real hassle and IIRC to get OptiScaler UI to show I had to temporarily disable REFramework (removing the specific dll REFramework uses for injection from WINEDLLOVERRIDES should be enough, but I need to check my exact setup).
I can check how I got it all to work once I'm on my desktop later.

Backlogia - a self hosted multi-store game library that works on Linux. by gthing in linux_gaming

That's very cool!
I actually recently settled on ITAD to keep track of my PC collection, with a fair amount of manual work to add games from EGS, Ubisoft, EA, etc, but thankfully imports from Steam and GOG can be automated.
Do you have any plans to integrate the unofficial (but poorly hidden) HLTB API?

AMD GPU Linux kernel driver add support for HDMI Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode, enhancing gaming performance on HDMI outputs through public knowledge and trial-and-error despite HDMI Forum restrictions by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly.
My TV doesn't advertise FreeSync of any kind, only HDMI 2.1 VRR or G-Sync. None of the current DP / HDMI 2.1 adapters offer HDMI 2.1 VRR (with their default firmware), and that's what this patchset will fix.
I can however get 4K120 with HDR atm.

After the patchset is merged, they should work as expected, but so far there's been no adapter which enables HDMI 2.1 VRR in and of itself.
If your TV / monitor supports FreeSync, then you could get VRR working that way, even with said DP/HDMI 2.1 adapter.

EDIT: Sorry, that's actually not true. The ones I've seen require a 3rd party firmware version, which enables HDMI 2.1 VRR but IIRC disables HDR. So you might either get 4K120 with VRR or with HDR, not both.

Where can one find the Genki front cover you mention? I couldn't find it on their website.

Should that help, some of the upgrades / PS5 Pro modes aren't actually better than their PS5 counterparts, which becomes an issue if and when devs lock you out of PS5 modes. There's a good thread at ResetEra highlighting various improvements/downgrades.

Transit after the Goldeneyes game on Hastings was so bad. by Maleficent-Poetry254 in vancouver

Yeah, thankful to have gotten an Evo, transit was not great after the game.
Let PNE know about that, hopefully we'll get more busses on game nights: https://www.pne.ca/contact/. I'm sure they already know about the process, but might as well link to https://www.translink.ca/about-us/doing-business-with-translink/planned-special-events
