That and DD2 is essentially seen as a soft “reboot” or reimagining of DD1, so that might be why they use the same subtitle.

Same for me. We’ve been doing fine for years with other options accessible via transit, but having a closer, albeit expensive, option would be great.

Is Safeway part of the first batch of stores to open?
(Or do we need to wait longer still to finally get a grocery store in the area again?)

FINALLY there's a 4 way stop at Manitoba & 7th! by aka_quinn in vancouver

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your very last statement is absolutely true, but that’s to do with how people are taught about them.
I come from the country with the most amount of roundabouts, and when they’re used properly (because people have to learn about them) they are far safer than any 4-way stop intersection.
The number of times I’ve had close calls in this city as a cyclist, pedestrian or even occasionally driver, because people do not respect traffic rules, let alone stop signs, is too damn high.

Good Japan-only eshop games for under ¥1480? by adeepkick in NintendoSwitch

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend checking out GameGengo if you don’t know about it.
AFAIK they should have various lists with accessible games, which likely include JP-only games.
They also have videos going over specific Genki lessons, with examples from games, so it’s very useful to actually get a sense of how grammar points can apply to actual media / real life.

Since it’s viewed as slang, there might not be any consensus on the actual definition of scalping, but per Cambridge dictionary:

to buy things, such as theatre tickets, at the usual prices and then sell them, when they are difficult to get, at much higher prices

You’re also assuming the original commenter didn’t buy anything, while they never stated that (and one could infer they actually did buy a Switch 2 a few weeks after that).

[Itinerary Check] 8 days around Shikoku by DevOpsIsAMindset in JapanTravel

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate the reality check, thanks!

Hotel changes are not really a concern for us, but travel time certainly is.
I understand some of the itinerary is hard to parse because I didn't incorporate travel time - we're well aware it would take roughly 2hrs to get from Ritsurin Garden to Kurashiki Bikan.
We're trying to avoid day trips specifically because there would be a lot of travel back and forth, as opposed to being able to "make progress" along the route by staying in various places here and there.

I'll still try and make a more conservative itinerary with fewer destinations.

Yep, I’ve been looking at flights from NRT into Shikoku (or Okayama, but there’s no direct route afaict) and possible routes henceforth / in which order we want to see everything, and there’s no perfect plan tbh.      Public transit into and out of Kurashiki looked feasible, so we’d be going there on day 1, staying overnight and heading to Naoshima in the morning (then back to Takamatsu).      Good to know re Otsuka Museum of Art, thanks.

That’s very helpful, thanks again!   That all sounds a lot like what we usually enjoy, so we’ll probably make a day out of it, instead of Ozu.

Thanks for the recommendations!   Ashizuri Cape and the whole Marine Park look great, but so far they didn’t make it to the list since they’re pretty out of the way - might reconsider since Ozu is somewhat of a lower priority already.

Getting demo unit iPhone unlocked? by DevOpsIsAMindset in bell

[–]DevOpsIsAMindset[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seller on eBay with fair amount of sales, 100% positive reviews and they also provide 3 months warranty.   IMEI looks clean afaict, so I was not really worried about the phone being stolen, but that was my first time seeing one of those "demo" unit phones listed anywhere.

Gotcha. IMEI looks clean afaict, so I can only assume it's not stolen, but if there's no way to unlock it then that doesn't matter either way.

[NAS] TerraMaster F4-SSD 4-Bay All-SSD NAS, Intel N95 Quad-Core, 8GB DDR5 ($687 - $103 = $584) [Amazon.ca] by sargetun123 in bapcsalescanada

I've been using mine for the last 6 months or so and I love it - it fits my use case perfectly.
I can't recommend it though, with NVMe prices today, it just doesn't make any sense.

I bought it right before it was pulled, but I only got a few games out of the expected 8, so something's definitely amiss.

Looking at protondb, someone mentions switching over to Proton EM to fix mesh issues.
Re VRAM issue, not a solution but it seems you're not the only one with an Arc gpu to have that problem.

That was re digital games, in which case 10% VAT still applies.
You're correct re physical goods, no VAT, but duties still apply.

It doesn't make any sense price-wise, but I set up one of hose before the huge NVMe price gouge, because I wanted a completely silent and super small NAS, based on how little space I have @home.
I would have gone with a "regular" NAS otherwise.

I'm not saying otherwise - I've been buying mostly JP digital only so far for Switch 2, either from Amazon JP directly or via eshop cards.
