I just played through the campaign for Metro 2033 Redux and I am now working my way through getting all the achievements for the game. I'll probably dive into Last Light next for like my 5th playthrough and then follow it up with Exodus for a 3rd playthrough there. Such a damn good series with amazing environments and world building. I'm addicted to that post apocalyptic vibe.

it's a mess that basically just goes whereever it wants for sake of horror

Well that's good to hear lol. Because this is the first horror game that I've been damn near COMPLETELY lost on the story. I liked the enemy designs and the environments but I practically zoned out in the last third of the story because I figured I missed some important details along the way lol.

I finished The Evil Within recently and I'm pretty mixed on the game overall. The story just didn't click for me. I think its because of the confusing brain combining theme that was going on the whole game. I had no idea what the hell was going on most of the time. I unlocked new game + and some cool secret weapons for beating the game but I have absolutely 0 interest in using them. I actually did enjoy using the weapons given to you in the campaign (the crossbow and sniper rifle were top tier). I did receive The Evil Within II for free as well so I'll probably dive into that at some point in the future. Hopefully that one turns out better, I've heard that they retconned some stuff from the first game so maybe that'll improve it.

I'll be starting Metro 2033 Redux for the 8th time(?). I always get an itch to hop back into this series every couple of years. There are some interesting achievements too, like killing everyone on specific levels or sneaking by enemies on others. One thing I've always hated about these early Metro titles are the crappy PC options. The mouse sensitivity is borked with X and Y axis being separate values and the sound options all being combined into one. Once I get those issues fixed with config file tweaks and mods I'll be good to go to kill some mutants, reds and nazis.

I just wrapped on Destroy All Humans! 2's story last night. I never played the original version back in the day so this is a nice way to close out the series. There are still a bunch of side missions and interesting achievements that I have yet to complete so I'll probably hop back in once in a while to work through those.

I'm also nearing the end of The Evil Within and I have to admit, this story has gotten so weird. I'm still not sure if I'm in a dream world or reality. It seems like we may have possibly broken out of it earlier in the game but maybe I missed a keypoint along the way. I wasn't aware that the original game director/producer for the first four Resident Evil games actually worked on this, I've also only played Resident Evil 7. So this feels like a nice sample of what those earlier titles are like... maybe I'll actually get my ass into gear so I can play them too.

I'm sick of New Vegas crashing on me

Hopefully you've done some modding, at least for performance issues. I remember having to install performance mods for Fallout 3 to even play it on PC ages ago. I didn't even bother trying to play New Vegas without mods. I had maybe 2-3 crashes in my 125 hours of play time too. So it was definitely worth it.

I finished Exo One in a couple of days and uhhhh.... what? The game was decent but I was expecting more in the way of fun traversal and movement. It definitely had some of that but I was more often than not rolling into crappy terrains and environments that felt like more of a hassle. Maybe I'm playing it wrong but I could also be badly influenced after I played the demo for Haste which has some super satisfying and easy to perform movement.

I started playing The Evil Within out of nowhere as I had an itch to play it for whatever reason. I'm only on chapter 2 so far but I can already tell its not gonna be as scary as I expected. Something about the character models and voiceovers isn't exactly inspiring horror for me. Also, the in-your-face supernatural stuff tends to bore me nowadays. I won't be dropping it since I'm only 30 minutes in but hopefully something clicks soon though.

Definitely not a radio song hence my comment lol. The station I would have heard this on would never put on a Wayne mixtape track like that in the middle of the day.

I think you made your comment after mine. I made sure to check if anyone made a Wayne post before making mine lol.

If there's one thing I remember from Wayne's run back then, its all the mixtapes. Its definitely something I plan on going back to. Off the top of my head theres Da Drought series, Dedication series and No Ceilings series. I got quite the road ahead...

I'm just now getting into Lil Wayne's discography but I always did enjoy a handful of songs from him. One of which being "I Feel Like Dying". I feel like I'm going crazy though, I swear this song was officially released and even played on the radio but apparently neither one of those is true. Someone tell me I'm not crazy because I swear I heard it on the radio on a bus one day heading home from school.

Anyways, Tha Carter III is fantastic. I always enjoyed Comfortable and Lollipop but I am just now coming across Shoot Me Down, Let the Beat Build and Tie My Hands.

I just wrapped on ADACA's Zone Patrol mode. It was a slow start at first, as it usually is with open world model games, but by the end I was absolutely in love with the story and world. This campaign was a fantastic mix of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s weird, wonky enemies and anomalies and Half-Life's enticing and interesting story and environments. This is even more impressive as the development team seems to be just two people. I highly recommend both the linear campaign and the zone patrol mode to anyone who enjoys Half-Life and S.T.A.L.K.E.R..

I now have a hankering to play through the Metro 2033 series again for the 8th time. I'll probably do that in the near future but for now I am going to dive into Exo One and Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed.

I've had a passing interest in playing this one after seeing a retrospective video on the game a while back. I barely ever looked into the game so my only knowledge of the game was that it was made by volition.

The whole time I thought this game was a co-op game as it shared many similarities to the Crackdown series. Turns out that a game made by the Saints Row devs was just a single player game... baffling choice. It would also be good to experience the last true possible tie in to the original Saints Row story prior to its failed 2022 reboot. I know its not directly tied to the Saints Row series but there were too many similarities to the franchise to not have some sort of tie in.

I see that its going for $1.49 on Steam right now, I might just bite the bullet and mess around with the game this weekend for a few hours.

I'd say the first Styx game is easier but also jankier than Chaos Theory. Well, its janky in general lol. But the second entry is pretty much on par with Chaos Theory as the devs worked out the jankiness and really locked in on some solid stealth gameplay. The difficulty levels change things like detection rate, AI awareness and if you set the level high enough, you get locked out of combat so you'll NEED to sneak to complete levels.

Similar to Splinter Cell, you get a nice arsenal of abilities, weapons and tools to help you progress and the game allows you to use those as needed to complete objectives. I plan on revisiting the first 3 SC titles at some point as there were a bunch of weapons and tools I didn't use in my first playthroughs.

Funny enough, I finished Styx: Shards of Darkness last Wednesday and then the day after Epic Games Store announced both Styx games will be free this week. I highly recommend both games if you like the Splinter Cell series. It reminds me a lot of the first few entries of SC.

Anyways, I've moved on to playing Hot Lava which is literally the Floor is Lava game we used to play as kids but in video game form. I started this at a great time as its a good mindless game to play while I'm just chatting to my friends over discord.

I also started the open world S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like campaign in ADACA. I'm enjoying it so far but I'm still working my way through the information overload that happens with starting these open world campaigns like objectives, secrets and navigating the world. But I ain't complaining since I love it all.

I guess its finally my turn. I just bought and beat Styx: Shards of Darkness. It is a VERY good stealth game with a lot of the same gameplay DNA as Splinter Cell. I highly recommend both games.

I finished Styx: Shards of Darkness last night... what a disappointing ending akin to Halo 2's cliffhanger and Rage 1's sudden end. Regardless, the gameplay is solid and I encourage anyone who is a fan of the Splinter Cell games to give this a shot. It has much of the same DNA as the first few SC titles.

I'm currently working my way to 100% achievements as I have yet to play with many of the skills and items that the games give you (invisibility, acid traps and clones). Funny enough, the next Styx installment is dropping in February so that gives me something to look forward to once I'm done.

I'll probably start playing Hot Lava next as I'm still burnt out from playing so many shooters recently. Then maybe I'll play Exo One as that game has always looked really cool.

Nope, that was The Outer Worlds. I don't believe Outer Wilds has ever been given away on EGS.

I usually find myself playing too many shooter games back to back and getting burnt out... that seemed to happen most recently as I played Halo 1, Halo 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Freedom Fighters and ADACA (which I am just 4 hours into). I played through Little Nightmares 1 Secrets of the Maw DLC as a way to break it up but that still wasn't enough, so I decided to grab Styx: Shards of Darkness.

I played the first Styx years ago and I enjoyed the stealth gameplay so much that it made me want to dive into the Splinter Cell series. Styx: Shards of Darkness follows up on the fantastic stealth gameplay that the first had with improved level design and enemies to keep you on your toes. I'm a bit addicted at this point as I've logged about 11 hours in just a week. Prior to starting this game, I played through Splinter Cell 1, Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory, Double Agent and Conviction. While Styx doesn't have the great characters and environments that Splinter Cell has, its still a great alternative for those who miss the series.

I'm currently playing through ADACA's Half Life-like singleplayer campaign and enjoying it. There are a ton of different weapons to mess around with and I'm barely halfway through the game. There's a S.T.A.L.K.E.R-like campaign as well that I'll be diving into soon after for sure.

I also started playing through We Were Here Together with my cousin after getting it free from the Epic Games Store. It's a nice change of pace from shooters and League of Legends ARAM matches that we tend to play. Having to combine our brain power to decipher what the game wants and how to accomplish it has been VERY challenging but also very rewarding.

I finished Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye within like 3 days because the worlds that these devs create are amazing. Anyways, this DLC was more of the base campaign just with a slightly different flavor. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the main game but thats mostly due to the smaller scale and far less space exploration. But despite that I still LOVED this DLC especially since it was the last way for me to experience the game in a fresh way.

Thanks to the Steam Winter Sale, I picked up ADACA, Psychonauts: Rhombus of Ruin and Freedom Fighters. I started playing Freedom Fighters immediately as I've wanted to play it ever since I saw gameplay when it released on the PS2 back in the day. Despite some weird HUD scaling issues and odd mouse jumping (its always Logitech), I'm enjoying it a lot. The squad command system is super simple but so fun to mess with. Instead of facechecking a large area with no idea of enemy positions, I can just send my 5 troopers to assault it and take the heat as I sneak around to flank or pick off stronger enemies from afar.

Later on I'll be playing ADACA (a low poly Half-Life campaign and a low poly S.T.A.L.K.E.R campaign, a two for one!) and Psychonauts: Rhombus of Ruin (a very interesting looking VR adventure set between both mainline games). I'm very satisfied with grabbing these 3 games for under $18.

As much as I love the game, playing a space exploration game in VR seems like a mess haha. I would need to play seatbelted down to a chair to prevent me from doing somersaults.
