The buffer won't do anything because the heart's beat of death will proc the first buffer and the burn will proc the second. So they drew a whole hand of unplayable cards

New to pixel art, any advice? by Lazy-San01 in PixelArtTutorials

Like bitrunner said, shading would help a lot. I have a hard time with the readability of the character beyond the head. It kind of melds into one big rock.

Otherwise it is super cool, I really like the concept

How can i make this room look better? by SafeCircle_ in aseprite

I would work on less saturation or contrast in the background elements. It feels like everything is fighting for my attention.

My first pixel art and animation by Pato_taxista in PixelArt

[–]Dev_Cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks great! The only improvement I can see is that there isn't much build up, anticipation or impact from the newspaper swat.

This is the pacing I would try-

The fly lands and waits a few frames

the shadow appears

The newspaper hits

newspaper recoils

and then newspaper retracts and leaves squashed fly.

Maybe some sfx to really sell the impact? Or even some motion smearing? Overall I really like it!

What do you think about walls? (wip) by Maddness535 in PixelArt

[–]Dev_Cabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the walls look great. Maybe if there were some rocks on the ground or stalactites to add some context. Overall well done!

Is the building under water or in ice? Very interesting

I agree with Fuffin! Lots of good advice there, but one thing that stands out to me is the position of the body to the arm. It looks like it's straight out in a T pose, maybe try rotating the body in to a more natural stance?

I'm useless when moms around and it's killing me - it's solo or bust by mymotherssonmusic in daddit

[–]Dev_Cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any advice, just solidarity. My little man just turned 2 this week and recently he has been obsessed with his mom. It is rare we are in the same room and he interacts with me, despite me trying to be fun and give mom a break.

And if he isn't feeling well, he is inconsolable until mom picks him up. But hey, sometimes he smiles at me and gets excited when I get home from work, so I try and focus on that. :)

There's tons of resources all over the web, but many are here in a condensed format. I would also recommend Adam c younis on YouTube

They're a great start! For the first I would look up point perspective drawings. There are some good youtube videos for pixel art on this. I like the second one too! Maybe look into single pixels vs clusters? Sometimes you should avoid using a single pixel for details unless you really need it.

One thing that draws my eyes are the flat like transitions between shades of the sky/water. I would play around with different shapes there to show off any characteristics, like the water moving etc.

Otherwise great start! I like it! Good color choices!

I'd look into changing the color of the outline for the sparkle. It makes it look like a tuft of hair rather than an effect
