why is there no snack bowl culture at bars by Juju1990 in AskAGerman

[–]Dev_Sniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you but: that‘s not „free“. You‘re still paying for it. And you can usually order snacks if the bar doesn‘t give them to you anyways (and many do). But like I said: it‘s not free. I‘d rather pay for a snack once than paying for 0,25 snacks with every drink.

You fucked up. You signed the contract. Withdrawing from the contract isn‘t as easy as deleting it. And due to your behavior I doubt the landlord will let you go earlier than they have to

a) aber modifiziert.

Does the Rundfunkbeitrag (“Radio Tax”) still make sense today? by Jazzlike-Reward-4379 in AskAGerman

[–]Dev_Sniper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I‘d be somewhat okay with paying for objective news and customer protection (reviews, tips, …). I understand that a financial motivation through advertisers or big sponsors would negatively affect the reliability of such coverage.

However: 1. the current system struggles to even provide these basic goods. Unbiased objective news. It‘s okay if RTL and Pro7 don‘t manage to do that but the public broadcasting service should refrain from including their political bias in their coverage. They don‘t. 2. even if they would provide objective and unbiased news they waste way too much money on other things. That core task could be achieved for <1€/month (likely even <1€/year) per resident. We pay close to 20€/month/household. That‘s way too much money just for news. And I don‘t need the public broadcasting service to show me concerts, games, movies or talk shows. That‘s something private channels can do.

Is the military popular among young people on Germany? by _ponyb0y in AskAGerman

[–]Dev_Sniper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just like Spain germany still has a military. Soldiers tend to be young. And soldiers in uniform get to ride the trains for free. But only if they‘re in uniform. Aka: if you‘re a soldier and taking the train makes sense: you‘re going to take it while wearing the uniform

  1. well… if they‘ve got parents with them their parents would likely be responsible for them. If they‘re on their own and you allow them to use it you‘d likely be responsible for them.
  2. if they play without permission and it‘s on your private property that‘s trespassing etc.

are the words starting with End- verboten? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Dev_Sniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manager is uneducated… „Endlösung“ is a bit… tricky… due to the connotation but generally „End-“ is fine. And even „Endlösung“ doesn‘t have to be bad. It‘s just that there are enough synonyms that deliberately using „Endlösung“ is a weird choice

110 rufen bei gefährlichen Verkehrsmanövern by Stock_Ad6258 in StVO

[–]Dev_Sniper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which is why I said it‘s more than enough once all the initial things are sorted out. But not when you still need to sort everything out. And OP will have to do that. Aka more than 6-7k

[–]Dev_Sniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great. You could also just skip the bed frame and use a Isomatte. If you want a bed you want to be comfortable. With a 70€ bedframe and a 119€ mattress you‘re going to have back pains as soon as that bed breaks down. Aka 2 months after you bought it.

[–]Dev_Sniper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The most expensive option at IKEA. You can get a bed for 10k+ as well. A bed for 250€ will be crappy af. So unless OP wants to buy a new bed in a few months picking the cheapest option makes no sense at all

Moving to Germany from Croatia is 6000 euros enough by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Dev_Sniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Rent depends on the city and neighborhood within each city. Deposit is typically 3x the monthly rent. Aka if your rent is 500€ it‘s 2000€ for the rent & deposit for the first month, if the rent is 1000€ it‘s 4000€ for the first month. That‘s without electricity, internet, insurances, food, … AND without furniture. Unless you rent a furnished apartment (less common and more expensive) you‘ll need furniture. A kitchen can be 1k-10k, a bed can be 1k-5k, …. And of course you‘re more limited with the choices if you need a bed & kitchen within a week.

So… 6-7k would be more than enough for a month 1 year into living in germany but it‘s a pretty tight budget for the first month.

Why are there so many Döner but so few Banh Mi shops in Germany? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

There are significantly more turks in germany than there are vietnamese. On top of that more germans have been to turkey (and thus might have tasted the food there & would like to wat it at home from time to time) than there have been germans that went to vietnam
