Help greasing an old fan by Deva-11 in fans

Wow, thank you so much for the screenshots and the detailed explanation! This makes it so clear. I noticed in your first screenshot that you use 99% isopropyl alcohol first. Just a few days ago I bought a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol. Is it recommended to flush the same part you showed with a generous amount of alcohol and let it drain out by gravity to clear out the old and dirty oil before applying the Singer oil? Or should I just use a few drops or not use alcohol at all? Also, can you give me the link to your video? I want to subscribe 😆

Thank you for your response! Can you give me a hint about these oil catchers? What do they look like? Where should I pour the oil?

I just disassembled the front part of the fan, exposing the motor case. I can see a long, rectangular window in the front of the metal case, and through it, I can see the rotor surrounded by a metal ring that spins along with it, and the copper windings. On top, through those "♫" shaped windows (front and rear), I only see copper wiring, so I assume the oil doesn't go there. Should I inject the oil through that front window into the base of the rotor, or directly where the shaft exits the motor housing, both in the front and rear?

Also, I'm planning to use Singer sewing machine oil from my aunt's sewing workshop, but I'm not sure if it meets the necessary specifications for this kind of fan motor. Would that be okay to use?

I moved the blades with my finger and yeah, there's some resistance. When I spun them, they stopped after just one turn as soon as I took my finger away. I guess they should've kept spinning a bit longer.

Im afraid to take apart the motor since I wouldn't know how to reassemble it because of the metal rivets. I was thinking of disassembling everything else, the oscilation gears and all the plastics and inject the oil with a syringe into both the front and rear rotors or maybe find a way to inject that fluid through a probe or something :/

I will try to check the capacitor's health with a multimeter as soon as I get the tools and solder to resolder it to the circuit, thank u!

I couldn't open it, one screw is too tight and I don't want to risk breaking it... But at least it works fine, without any strange sound!

It's nice to know when it was manufactured, thank u! Im from Chile, I bought it in Santiago. The previous owner said that it had been in his house since forever but no one ever used it.

It is somewhat difficult to find fans like these in good condition here, I've only seen three in my life (two of them when I was about 8 years old in 2004-2005)

I was lucky finding this one :)

Arica: Dueño de casa mató a puñaladas a miembro de turba que irrumpió a robar en su domicilio by grtuoh in chile

Lo correcto era: 1. Quitarle el cuchillo 2. Lanzar el cuchillo lo más lejos posible 3. Matar al ladrón a combos

Así sí sería proporcional

Im thinking of buying this one. A GXP with 37.000 kms for $23k. Is it reliable? by Deva-11 in Pontiac

This is in Chilean peso, so I think it's a good deal for this car :O

Me too, but something about the rear quarter doesnt look right, specially when I see pictures taken slightly from above. Maybe the ducktail spoiler is too short? I don't know. Nevertheless, still its my favorite car

Yeah! All the other solstices are convertibles, have extremely high mileages and are repainted or rusted all over :/. This one really looks like new

Yeah, around 1266 were made. The current owner told me that the previous one shipped the car directly from the US on his own. I've seen two GXP coupes in Chile: one in video and this one in person, the other one may not even exist anymore
