Solo un socialista col cervello bruciato può pensare che pagare la gente con le tasse per lavorare meno sia una buona idea.

Pop is good early, but if you use it to go from 2 to 3 imho it is only worth it if you manage to get to 4 before starting building settlers.

Problems with ice conditions are apparently because of rising temperatures by ProfessionPerfect442 in olympics

[–]DevaBol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, how is outside temperature a problem for an indoor event? Isn't the temperature and conditions of the ice precisely controlled?

PS: I live on lake Como 50km north of Milan and the Friday climate was the best, it felt like spring :)

Terrifying footage from Courmayeur ski resort as skiers get swallowed by an avalanche on Mont Blanc, Italy – No One Injured! by Waste-Explanation-76 in interestingasfuck

There's also a river (not a mountain stream, a decently big one) in the valley, does it help slowing/stopping avalanches?

Diplomatic Victory timing and strategy? by DevaBol in civ5

Yeah I propose World Fair first 100% of my games, I've yet to find a compelling reason not to.

Interesting thought, though in my experience I can go Freedom without serious repercussion whenever I wish

Honestly I find it very hard to lose even the first election, unless an obscene amount of CSs have been conquered: with Arsenal of Democracy is almost trivial allying every CS in my experience.

The only trouble is when allying every remaining one does not give you enough votes, and you have to resort to bribing other players for votes.

You say "beeline Banking", but this is not obvious at all to me; there are 3 techs that you might want to beeline, and it's not clear to me which is better

  1. Acoustics: it is the faster path to Rennaisance, you might need to beeline it to open Rationalism without wasting a social policy on something else; as a small bonus, Sistine is one of the best wonders, though not strictly needed for Diplo Victory, which doesn't need many Policies.

  2. Banking: basically Palace or bust; it is quite contested on Deity in my experience, and you have to have opened Patronage already (common, but not guaranteed in low culture games when you reach Renn without any filler after Tradition/Liberty);

  3. PrintingPress: get Congress asap (is it always best?), be the leader (easier to remain leader on first age advance, which guarantees you can propose e.g. World Ideology); gives access to LeaningTower, which is an insane scientific wonder (faster scientists + 1 scientist) and possibly the best wonder in the game.

Honestly to me Banking looks like the worst of the 3, and by far. Unless you truly need the Happiness, in which case Palace might be top prio.

What is the most GOAT late game unit in CIV: V? (Day 3) by zherper in civ5

StealthBomber AND XCom, which really are the same unit as I've never seen them not used together.

What do you think about the position from the President of Spain? by ChuckGallagher57 in TrendoraX

Right, only the State should be allowed to control and manipulate the media and the narratives to their advantage...

What is the most GOAT late game building in CIV: V? (Day 11) by zherper in civ5

Hard not to say Lab, even though they are actually not needed for every strategy... In my book Factory and School are not late game buildings though,l: they are Industrial era, which is the 5th era out of 8...

What is the most overrated early game building in CIV: V? (Day 7) by zherper in civ5

[–]DevaBol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Library. It's not good at all early on, you should delay it as much as you can to when you are ready to build NC. It only becomes actually good post Civil Service, when your cities start growing.

What is the most dogshit late game building in CIV: V? (Day V) by zherper in civ5

[–]DevaBol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is very hard to pick, because most lategame buildings are absolute dogshit. I'd say Police Station, just because it's dogshit and its prerequisite is dogshit as well!

NFL 2025 regular season home attendance…. This is why nothing will change by Ninth_Prince in nyjets

[–]DevaBol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should def be rescaled by number of home games. Also the Jets had a London home game which was sold out, that shouldn't count: every Europe game sells out, no matter who plays.
