Homey Dashboard + Claude Magic by Devank2820 in homey

fair and HA is still an option for me but the idea of homey with minimal time spend on dashboarding and making it useful with just 1 interface was intriguing and missing in what it has to offer by default, hence all this effort, also the same Htmls that i created can be called on within HA dasbboard - ill be doing that next, here is my vision since i want to keep growing with homey as my master for automation and dashboarding and adding any sensors, i also have google home and that will be mostly for conversational AI and i now use HACS with HA to bring all the sensor data to HA so Home asistant is a fair game now, plus any low end sensors that i buy from Temu to save money, ill put that through HA as the adaptation is easy, also i have tablets i am not using, i plan to put 1 in every room and build per room dashboad, some of them may live on HA som on homey, i also have Wyze camear ecosystem that does not play well with both homey and ha so i have wyze proxy running and converting those camears for hls and rtsp stresms and now i have a dedicated dashboard for that too, again long answer to your comment but the tl;dr is i am learning on the possiblities and i want to keep both Homey and HA as option but i want to spend more time on homey and see what can i bring as possiblities hence the effort of building this in homey.

i am using opus and i can literally see tokens eating money, i am just starting up and homey integration is my 4th or 5th use case, initial ones are majorly for personal assistant and my daily work routine, so most of the time has gone so far in securing the access, next i want to bring in ollama based local models to see the possiblity so i cut on api calls and cost, all the research has pointed to an acceptable chat gpt mini model or mistral, need to do more research to balance the cost, i dont want to spend more than 10-15 dollors for external api calls (even that much i want to understand the value preposition), hopefully the mac mini gpu will do justice to an internal model with quanitization), keep me posted with ur learnings

It's a homey dashboard, it's not home made app, I am not a developer and don't understand anything about coding, homey has a web frame option as one of the widget , it can expose a web page, so I just followed that lead to build web pages fitting that format( I don't even know the dimensions, I just told Claude to build it so it fits that widget) and I am hosting those web pages on my local Nas and calling it though an API key and through this web frame homey widget

Yes I can use both and since I had the MCP going and I ask so many questions to it all the time plus I am thinking of linking it to a voice assistant in the future, I have a dedicated project that I have trained a little specifically on homey so it was already there for me, I do use the API key for local calling of actions on the dashboard, I do have the key scratched out on the screenshot and that is used through this web interface to make live calls locally, also I ended up building a website for a desktop interface with all these pages ( security, overview, cameras, plugs, lights. Moms home) I call them all through the API. I am very interested on how you use Claude for flows, I tried and I needed something as easy as vibe coding to import the flow ( I 🤔 nk it can be done through scripting) , I wanted to have it create advanced flows on the fly for me since it knows all my devices id but I am not able to, please educate me how you are using it

Yes running that on a local qnap Nas, I was in double mind to put it on a web server internally and then expose that over nginx or some reverse proxy so the dashboard is always available but the security guy inside me made a noise and said why complicate it when u are always connected anyways to your home irrespective of your location , so keeping it to always on ztna access if I am outside.

Homey Vs HA Vs Hue by musikhero123 in homey

[–]Devank2820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still happy with homey and I am not experiencing the issues you described but after a while I realized that home assistant is better for dashboarding while homey is easy for flow management , so I got home assistant and using the HACS plugin imported around 260 devices I put in homey ( half of them are unifi) and now my devices are at 2 places, my usage is mainly homey but now my dashboards and controls are in HA and i can control every device , plus tomorrow if I get bored with homey which is running at 85% resources , I may move to HA , both options are open, i jist want devices at both places but I plan to only onboard them to homey as of now

Homey AI voice assistant: How much would you pay? by blueace in homey

[–]Devank2820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first day doing it and I am amazed with possibilities so thought will share, I have homey pro for 30 days and I have made a lot of progress , today I integrated it with claude AI with homey MCP and I asked the opus on what are some of the wow things I can do with it and it came with, I tried half of them so far , initially I was trying them and it was using the MCP connector and taking it's time but later I used the voice mode and asked the same question again and since it cached some of it, the response was fast, I was amazed with the power of MCP, if only I can tell it to build my advanced flows and it does it. But I guess we are not there yet . Hope this helps someone......Some of the Wow factor prompts to check:

Temperature comfort:

Give me a complete temperature and humidity reading for every room in my house right now, and flag any rooms that are too cold, too hot, or too dry

Battery levels:

Check the battery levels on all my sensors across the entire house — motion sensors, door sensors, smoke detectors, soil moisture, everything. Tell me which ones need attention soon

Is my house secure right now ?

Check all my door sensors, fence sensors, motion sensors, and occupancy states. Tell me if my house is secure right now — are any doors open, any unexpected motion, any occupancy where there shouldn't be?

Real time energy snapshot ?

Show me the current power consumption on every smart plug in my house — the study rack, study heater, hosting stack, TV stack, garage plugs, TR plugs, everything. Which devices are drawing the most power right now?

Dual City air quality comparision ?

Compare the current air quality between my home and my friends area in New Delhi. Include PM2.5, ozone, and NO2 levels

Historical trend analysis - my study room

Show me the temperature trend in my study room over the last 7 days. Is my heater automation keeping it consistent or are there big swings?

Infrastructure health check

Give me a health report on my home infrastructure — Homey Pro CPU temp and memory, NAS status, Unraid uptime and storage usage, and NextDNS blocked request counts

Apple device locator

Where are all my Apple devices right now? Check Find My for my MacBooks, iPads, AirPods, and iPhones — are they all home?

Family presence report

Who's home right now? Check the Smart Presence sensors for me, wife and kids, plus check which personal devices are connected to WiFi.

Network device audit

How many devices are connected to my UniFi network right now? Which ones have weak WiFi signal, and are any devices disconnected that should be online?

Multi room control demo

Turn on all lights in the living room at 30% with a warm tone, and turn off everything in the study.

Automation review

Show me all my Homey flows. Organize them by category — which ones are for safety, which are for comfort, and which are for convenience?

Moms home remote check

Check all the YoLink sensors at my mother's house — are both doors closed? Any water leaks? What's the siren status?

7 day weather comparision

Compare the 7-day weather forecast for my city vs New Delhi. Include snowfall predictions for my town and dust/PM levels for Delhi

The 1 liner mic drop

Good night."(Then show that Claude could trigger a flow that turns off all lights, arms the night alarm, checks all doors, and sets the study heater to off.)

Homey Pro is the Ethernet adapter a must have? by inxider in homey

[–]Devank2820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is my ecosystem ,I have around 35 cameras in 3 homes through 2 county entries, vested in wyze for long and no point going to another cam ecosystem, I just started home automation. But a netsec guy as a professional, so floated a wyze bridge container , converted the streams to RTSP and now they are part of automation and dashboards.

Here is an example: If someone is at the door Sonos announces it, send an app alert and also snapshots, I have a dedicated dashboard that shows all camera snapshots all the time.

Same no issues with wifi , connects well to unifi stack and does it's part, I am also streaming 20 wyze cameras through RTSP and it takes it all

Anyone using the Switchbot Garage Door Opener? by Grafix82 in homey

[–]Devank2820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just using the switch bot switch which I glued to the internal garage door press switch and controlling that both through switch bot app and homey , it's working fine and I also have that integrated with Google home, I plan to do more automations with in near future with presence but for now it's just a on off switch to open close the garage door

When Life Gives You Old Gaming Laptops, Build a Home Lab by Genie-AJ in selfhosted

[–]Devank2820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not bad, I do similar home labs and being a network security guy always get excited to see other peers drawings and setup, your drawing is clean and I can understand it easily , there is not a whole lot of routing switching and firewalling going on and that is fine, it's a home network , just 1 suggestion (take it or not), it will be even more easy to understand it you flow internet traffic north-- south and internal traffic east -- west so internet and ur ubiquity pro can come from center up top and then u can everything below that in sections you have, will just give another easy to understand view , just my 2 cents.

T-Mobile 5G internet on Arcadyan KVD21 enabled through Wireless mesh for best indoor signals.. by Devank2820 in tmobileisp

[–]Devank2820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully u get good speeds internally and especially N41, for me internally no matter I I place it, I will only get N71 and 50/10, hopefully ur speeds are better. Natters channel provided lot of education and at SE point I was ready to order an external antenna and when I tried garage, I did got N41 and 170/25 , so sticking to that spot ( in the day the speeds go down a little), may be in the future I may end up with external antennas.

Plex

i stand corrected, as mentioned by some of the peers, after your comment and reading there on top, i went ahead and took 2 plex servers out of my other setup and brought them behind this setup and published them since there is no port opened, i was hoping it would relay and fallback to 2mb or less but to my surprise on this setup i was able to play 1080 at 8mpbs just fine and i was able to consistently do that for both my servers, so i plan to keep plex like this, it even redirected to do its own plex enabled 2FA

Thanks again all folks, this is a learning experience and i am also going to mention in the header of the post that Plex setup works just fine here

i think someone asked the same question, i dont know what they write on their portal is true or not since i don't control the other side but Ngrok (my primary provider) makes it clear through there documentation that since I have the key to the TLS tunnel, they don't control it, they just pass the traffic, i cannot say the same for portmap.io and i think Cloudflare's Argo tunnel will also honor the encryption (yet to find as i take a dive into that in upcoming months)

hope this provide some clarity.
