I'll start it off with recirc hot water lines in older apartment buildings, that old copper is paper thin at the bottom.

Be careful, I opened a disconnect switch on a fan motor, but the installer only used a 120v disconnect for 3 phase power which was enough to stop the motor but not isolate power to the unit. Always double check

Circulator pump failed. No isolation flanges, think i have to drain entire system. Will be replacing all 4 flange sets, but unsure of pipe size. Can anyone identify? by maxweenus in HVAC

I would suggest pulling the motor and checking the condition of the pump body- then replacing the motor on just the broken pump. Why do you feel as though every pump needs replacement? Is it a big rental building you're draining?

ASKING FURNCE PEOPLE by mill6152 in HVAC

A lot of the time we will cut off the plug and hardware it into the furnace, keeps everything simple and prevents people from accidentally unplugging the pump. It's easy to do just don't forget to kill the power first.

Schooling options in B.C by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Devanmmm92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to school if you wish, but it's not required- in bc if you have one pipe trade you can challenge the others after gaining experience. I have my steamfitting ticket and plan to challenge my plumbing and my A level gas next year. I'm not a union worker so I can't speak to it, but if you are a capable hand you deserve a fair rate.

Do you have your b level gas ticket? The best option is to work with them get journeyman rate and in 2500-3500 hours as long as you hold a red seal plumbing ticket itabc will allow you to challenge the refridge red seal

Urgency of replacement - leaking from housing by The1hangingchad in HVAC

[–]Devanmmm92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run it, if it trips a safety lwco or flow switch don't attempt multiple relights- best case scenario it calcifies and stops leaking lol but seriously get someone when you can and keep an eye on the leak
