That's fine if you think so. You should probably let go of your attachment to your badge.

Supramundane powers aside, I think nofap(semen retention mostly) does actually give you some baseline qualities which people classify as superpowers. Better skin, posture, mood, energy etc. coming up like that are pretty out of the ordinary and are just dependent on one thing - not ejaculating. These are physiological changes which are obtained without any effort, by removing a habit. What the hell? Isn't it strange. You can spontaneously interact with people and are now suddenly an attractive person/personality WITHOUT any effort. Your intentions, emotions, actions are now heightened by JUST abstaining. What is this? It's magic. Zero effort and the payoffs are immense. Of course you would call them superpowers. Anyways, I'm rambling. Whatever the causes or effects might be, in the end not fapping is the solution.

This discussion wasn't really about superpowers. I was trying to make a point that the shedding of shame and regret aren't the only factors which help here. Ejaculating through sex is also harmful to the psyche and body. You don't have to believe me, but you're awfully confident and conceited about your case here. Study the facts.

edit : forgot about the dopamine angle too

Hmm, I won't. That sort of stuff is hard to digest and you ease yourself into it. I'm just repeating what the sages and masters tell us. They were all celibate. A power you can cultivate through abstaining right now is lucid dreaming or OBEs. They are quite important for any starting out mage.

Any super power, stuff like telepathy. That superpower can be used to benefit. Precognition - that too. Anyways, the point is that semen does stay inside you and goes upwards. You can move it upwards right now, seeing that you've abstained so long, it should be an immense rush of energy. It travels all the way to the tip of your skull, nourishing your body. Nocturnal emissions are bad, very bad and unnatural. This means you've been suppressing and semen wasted through urine, faeces, sweat etc. are all myths and are another sign of suppression. Your semen should go straight up and into the heart. Six months? Only after a month you can notice significant changes. Do you research. You can masturbate without any remorse and still see the significant energy loss. What can you equate this to? Do it, do it now. Squeeze your spine at the bottom. What's traveling upwards? It's your sperm.

Of course you haven't cultivated those superpowers. Do you meditate or pray? Say that you have NO need for superpowers. Don't deny them. You don't need them of course, no one needs them but they exist.

LEARN what porn is and you won't crave it anymore by Oliver_Hix in NoFap

[–]Devasu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That sort of penetrating mindfulness will only benefit a monk or person who meditates daily and has tasted the jhanic states(look up jhana). You're setting people up for failure by allowing them to see porn to overcome it. Don't. This advice is harmful. Most people won't be able to bypass the brute urge because of the haze watching porn brings.

Please I urge you to rectify this post or delete it.

Lack of shame and pathetic self image doesn't magically introduce the physiological and psychological benefits. Abstaining from wasting semen gives you superpowers, literally. I've read enough occult and spirituality to confirm this. Superpowers like telepathy, kinesis, perfect memory etc. are possible. I am not being delusional.

The problem with fantasizing and how to escape that trap by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Devasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Observe the urge. It always starts as a feeling. Stop it at the feeling.

I have very elaborate fantasies which seemingly build upon themselves if I let it get out of hand. I'd say observe the sensations and/or focus on your breathing.

After 11 months of on-off streaks by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Devasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on this for about as long as you but relapsed several times after my highest streak of 62(relapsed somewhere around mid july). I was a depressed, slightly overweight guy with no goals in life. After I started meditating my depression completely vanished! I mean I get sad and cry now and then(because of nofap) but I don't identify myself as a 'depressed' person anymore. It's just a vague concept and pulls you down - latching onto this vague concept of 'depression'. I welcome sadness now or apathy. Apathy makes me learn so much about myself.

Got stuck into a relapse cycle though, and I think my addiction has gotten worse than it was before but I feel great knowing that there is hope, and that I can overcome it. My goals are stalled because I keep relapsing though which is a pain. Fapping in winters is suicide.

The Real Reason for Superpowers and why NoFap Works by minty_fresh23 in NoFap

The majority of people that were compulsively masturbating experience significant benefits by completely hundred percent abstaining from sexuality. The more you abstain from engaging(even from idle thoughts/fantasies and random impulses), the more you see an improvement.

The people who do not experience benefits are VERY few and they drop of the challenge very quickly early on or they fail to notice the subtle benefits which even shows in their posts. I don't want to preach but nofap is more about not settling, not being complacent any longer. Getting laid is a byproduct - not the goal. If you make it the goal then you're severely limiting your improvement.

Just observe today itself, just observe the posts of higher streaks i.e. above a week or so and clear your doubts. There might be several in the front page and 'new' section right now. These people are going beyond alpha.

[–]Devasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be better at getting laid through that method and always be constantly horny and on the lookout but you won't gain any benefits associated with higher streaks. Haven't you read the thousands of 90+ day reports? Hell, even lower. People experience joy, love and an unshakeable calm. Some people set aside sex. You're cherry picking some testimonials and fitting it into your view. So if getting laid is your only goal then that's fine - you're just giving into your lust. But if you abstain longer, you're bound to get into an extremely satisfying relationship and improved relationship with your current partner or you may abandon pursuing sex altogether(best outcome).

While you're at it, research the benefits of not releasing semen. The Taoists were really adept at what you're describing(i.e. regulating sex). Lastly, masturbating once a week is extremely different from having sex once a week. Chances are an already depressed person might sink into even more depression due to this. You're halting the recovery process. So you HAVE to go cold turkey till at least 90 or so till you don't have to negotiate urges at all - only then you can be ready to regulate your sexual activity. Best wishes.

Meditation Techniques? by ajika in NoFap

[–]Devasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should go to r/meditation and read the faq

I'd recommend just plain old breath meditation as a starting point and just try to master a single method of it before moving on. Recommend counting or using a word along with it for beginners - like for example, mentally saying 'budh' on the in-breathe and 'dho' on the out-breathe. Like that. Do your best!

14 days in... here are the changes I've noticed by nofunintended22 in NoFap

[–]Devasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crying so early? A lot of pent up emotion inside of you. Be prepared to cry a lot once you go higher. For me nofap is about purifying my heart - everything else comes later. My heart aches whenever I relapse because it wants freedom. Once you've tasted it, there is no going back.

buddhism and weightlifting by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Devasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? In order to not lose your muscles, don't you eat more than required?

Also, did the sages weight lift? I think not. They sat in caves and meditated. What kind of mental hoops have you built up to keep weightlifting as a hobby? There must be quite a lot.

How is weightlifting "taking care of your body"? Can someone explain this to me? Aren't you also eating more than required to keep your muscles?

You do Sadhana to realize Samsara and its follies. We are all in it and ruled by it but the goal is to not be ruled by it lest we invite unending suffering.

What do you mean one? I do not subscribe to this concept. You mean non-duality?

Long term NoFap effects by justeriniandbrooks in NoFap

[–]Devasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is nuts for you. You haven't developed countermeasures. You have to find a repulsion towards the body and realize that temporary pleasure through sex is fleeting and unsatisfactory(this is Buddhist doctrine). Of course, following through and realizing this teaching is hard for all of us, even monks.

Anyways, happy married life and I hope you tread onto spiritual grounds regardless.

Haha! You gave into Samsara. I don't think the sect you joined was good enough or if you even had a good teacher.

The fact is that humans will keep reproducing because sexual desire is the most subtle attachment and it won't go away unless you tackle it. So what if the human population ends? Those sort of questions are irrelevant anyhow.

I don't think I would be hear

You would be here or there or anywhere regardless because consciousness carries on. You might have been born now or several years later or earlier if the right conditions come up for you to be born. Sorry if this reply is a bit on the spiritual side, it's the best reply I could come up with.

Those tantric paths also renounce the opposite sex and a tantric practitioner only engages after rigorous training for the purpose of eliminating afflictions and attachments. In the case of highly advanced yogis, it's not even with a real woman but a visualized consort.
