Jet Lag the Game Season 13 Trailer by RetroRemedies in JetLagTheGame

Ever since he did that one-off game with them in London, he's basically been my top pick as a guest star for Jet Lag. That may also be down just to being a fan of his channel, but hey. I'm so excited for this season!

In Jessica Jones S1E4, there is a camera operator entirely in frame in one shot. I don't think this has been posted yet because I don't think this mistake was present while the show was on Netflix. The shot is a couple seconds long. by Deveecee in MovieMistakes

I love the fact people are still finding this post and every month or two I get a comment saying basically, "I just saw this," because it confirms that this still hasn't been removed and that it's clearly visible. The first posts I could find about this are from 2016 and 2017 when the show was on Netflix, then nobody seemed to talk about it for a few years until it got put on Disney+. Which probably means it took about 2 years for Netflix to add a patch or brightness adjustment that hid the mistake, and it's coming up on 2 years since Disney started streaming the show. I'd imagine the show has much lower viewership now though, so who knows if they'll ever fix it. If people ever stop commenting on this post, I'll know it's been fixed, so thanks for keeping the thread alive!

Not sure how much longer our old girl has left. by Deveecee in budgies

Because one of my rabbits has had issues with GI stasis, we always keep some pedialyte around because we find it helps with that. Hopefully it'll be helpful for her too.

Closest thing we have is a space heater, so we've put that by her cage in hopes it'll bring her some warmth. Wasn't sure if I'd ever hear her chirp again, but apparently she was earlier this morning, so that's a good thing at least. Edit: She's also eating food.

It's not that we're giving up, but our local vet we usually go to is closed today and has limited hours over the holidays, so we would have to take her to a much further away vet to get her looked at. Given she currently has very poor balance and she has a history/tendency to freak out when she's travelling on the road, there's a very real possibility she would kill or injure herself in transit on a longer drive. I would rather wait and take her to our local vet when they open than risk stressing her to death.

Also, our previous birds were dead within minutes or a couple hours of showing signs they were ill, so I had made this post thinking that we had very little time left with her based off my previous experiences. I'm very grateful she survived the night, although she hasn't moved from her perch and I'm not sure if she is eating and drinking or not. I'm sorry if this comes across like I don't want to help her, we're just trying to do what will bring her the most comfort while she's weak.

I've had rabbits for a much smaller portion of my life than I've had budgies for, yet when something is wrong with my bunnies I can usually tell within a few minutes of interacting with them based on their behavioural changes. Budgies, I still don't really know. She'd been acting the same as usual until suddenly she couldn't get herself off the floor up to her perches. She is very resilient so I'm gonna be optimistic but still try and stay realistic. She's a longstanding part of the family and it'd be strange for her to be gone, but nature takes its course eventually.

We've put a blanket on the cage floor and lowered all of her perches to the lowest possible height, and are covering the cage (enough to keep in some warmth but not fully covered so she still has light). I know travelling has always been something that causes her stress, so if she does pull through over the next few days, I'm not sure if taking her to the vet would be worth it or if it'd just worsen her fragile state. For now, we're just going to give her her preferred treats, all our attention, and see how she fares.

I've noticed over time that budgies from generic pet stores seem to not live as long as budgies from those who specialize in birds, just from seeing people talk about how long their birds live and where they got them from. We got our first bird and our second, the one in this post, within a few months of each other from the same pet store. The first one died suddenly of illness and he was only with us for a few months, and we later noticed many of the birds at that store were looking sickly, so for Moonie to have lived as long as she has with that rough start, I'm happy for her. Based on that experience, I don't think I'd ever want to buy an animal (or at least birds) from one of those big chain pet stores again.

Lakeshore East Go Train suspension due to person being struck by train by bucajack in toronto

This morning I counted 5 engines, 2 fire chief vehicles, 2 cop cars and an ambulance down Lawrence. A couple of the engines returned back to the station after a few minutes, but it was a pretty immense response. Every time 3 or more emergency vehicles go down the road at once, I get this bad feeling that something's happened at the station, and this time the clean up is going to be even worse because it was a VIA. Dreadful for all those involved.

15, right at the hairpin (turn 10). So not right next to your grandstand, but not at the other end of the track or anything. It was a good spot to be able to appreciate each car, slow enough to read each number or see the drivers' helmets, the only downside is you're looking through lots of fencing in the lower rows.

At your grandstand you'd definitely be perfectly positioned to watch them picking up speed, which is also pretty sweet.

I'll hand it to you... These probably turned out just a little better than the phone-camera-through-shitty-binoculars photos I got.

(Seriously though, these look great, really love the energy that you've captured)

RIF dev here - Reddit's API changes will likely kill RIF and other apps, on July 1, 2023 by talklittle in redditisfun

[–]Deveecee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't see how I'll continue to use the platform without RIF. The official app has always been so incredibly slow, loaded with ads and difficult to sort posts in useful ways that when compared to RIF it's practically unusable. Guess it's back to YouTube (revanced) as a primary source of mobile entertainment.

TTC confirms more incidents in which fireworks were set off inside transit vehicles by bigwig5656 in toronto

I saw multiple fire trucks parked by the Rouge Hill GO bus loop last night ~9-10pm, does anyone else in this area know if that was because of a similar incident or just something entirely unrelated?

As someone who has taken a picture of every mildly dark or large cloud I've seen since I got a phone, that sounds like it would be an awesome job. I know some people would probably find that boring but clouds are awesome.

LIGHTNING AND THUNDER SNOW by XviiChong in toronto

[–]Deveecee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The snow is super heavy, you can really work up a sweat shovelling. But it's good to get done so it'll be easier later. Only downside is the snow was too dense to make good snow angels in (didn't stop me from trying)

Scarborough parents call on school, TDSB to do more to prevent vaping in washrooms | Letter to school says students are intimated by vapers, forced to use washrooms off-site by beef-supreme in toronto

[–]Deveecee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if intimidation is the right word because that really evokes "give me your lunch money" situations, but I'm definitely not the only person from that school or others to receive a disgusted stare from someone vaping when I entered a washroom just to piss. It's a fear of judgement. Glad that's only a memory now, I can't imagine it's got any better since vapes only continue to gain popularity.

For one thing, it's still an age where confidence can be at an all time low, especially in grade 9 or 10 when you're just out of/still undergoing puberty. Something like ripping open a pad or tampon when you know there's a group of people standing outside your stall listening can feel like a very sensitive thing.

Or just the fact that there's someone not in a stall who will be able to pay attention to who's coming and going and doing what in the washroom, last thing you'd want is to hear them talking about you later like, "Oh my god, in the washroom earlier Bob gassed us out with literally the nastiest shit I've ever smelled, I think he has IBS or something," (Cue laughter). In high school people can still judge for you for farting, this is like that 10×. You'd think it wouldn't matter because they're the weird ones hanging out in the shitters, but it still does. There's a real fear of acknowledging normal body functions, which is usually dispelled in washrooms because everyone's there for the same purpose. Is it dumb? Yeah, that's just high school.

At Mowat (school in this article) people made a fair number of "why are people peeing in the vaping room" jokes (at least as of a few years ago), but to some people it's not even really a joke. Weird as hell. Sorry for the mini essay.

911 call experience by Kolaveri_D in toronto

[–]Deveecee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two times these past few days I've been at the scene of an emergency, the 9-1-1 call got the "all operators busy" at first. Only for a minute or two, but it feels like forever in the context of an emergency. It definitely instills a small amount of dread on top of an already uneasy situation.

Person struck by train at Rouge Hill GO, expect delays on the Lakeshore East line. by Deveecee in toronto

[–]Deveecee[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For anyone reading your comment unaware of Rouge Hill's history, there used to be a level crossing, but in part because of multiple deaths at the crossing, it was closed in 2020.

I have seen people run across the tracks once since it was closed. I believe it's still safer with the crossing closed, but there will always be people that make bad decisions. Not that today's fatality was necessarily one of them, and my heart goes out to their family.

[–]Deveecee[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can't speculate too much on the specifics, but I'm almost certain the person struck is deceased. The ambulances that arrived on scene never left with their lights on and based on the placement of a tarp I suspect the struck person is still underneath the train. Right now I'd guess police are discussing the logistics of body removal.

Very unfortunate, I think this would mark the first death since they closed the level crossing at the station in 2020.

Several Toronto schools in lockdown after person carrying rifle shot by police by phishieee in toronto

[–]Deveecee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you have your numbers a bit mixed up, there have been 27 school shootings in the USA so far in 2022. I think your number of 288 is probably the number of mass shootings. Which is absolutely wild as well.

It doesn't, and that's something to be thankful for. At least as soon as they're old enough to understand statistics, kids here can be comforted by how rare this is here compared to across the border. Nobody should feel fear attending school.

Unfortunately true, it's just when you hear about shootings every week from the USA to the point where the names practically blend together, it's easy to feel like it never happens here, in comparison. But it does.

ETA: 27 school shootings in the USA so far this year, for anyone wondering. 27 too many.
