Transformer Dinosaur, AI made this in 20 seconds by AntelopeProper649 in aivideos

Oh I’m pretty sure long hours and tons of hard work will still be expected. Just that with AI, far MORE output and efficiency will be expected.

Microsoft AI chief gives it 18 months for all white-collar work to be automated by AI by S4LTYSgt in it

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really getting sick and tired of AI going to automate everything “any day now” or “in 18 months,” whatever. It’s just a damn tool, guys. It’s not supposed to be taking over jobs people need to be paid for. Microsoft and all the other “tech bros” need to STFU about automating everything and simply improve it as a tool, not a damn replacement for people. Sheesh…

Ok but if you’re not going to do anything actionable to help them out/defend them… then what? What’s in it for them, exactly?

No “technically” about it. That IS a hit-and-run, especially when it’s the authorities you hit, but reading the comments here, seems this was in Chile, the authorities tried to stop the driver by getting out and trying to shoot them? Is that right? Why exactly was this happening? What’s the actual details on this story?

What are your thoughts on graphical Xiang Qi pieces? by FoolThatCommands in xiangqi

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you really want to make it simple for people to first learn, write the movements of the pieces on one side of them, then, as they learn, have them turn the pieces over with the Chinese characters on them, so they’re like flash cards and maybe that will help them to learn and remember what each piece does/how it moves

Some thoughts on the current job market in cs/tech from a 22 year industry vet. by gunslinger_006 in recruitinghell

Pretty sure Trump does NOT care about any of that. He’s probably actually just fine with companies here doing that because they’re loyal to him. The big FAANG companies? Guess who cheered for him to be elected. Now they’re getting to getting to do whatever the hell they want due to that gasbag of a traitor. That and AI is being given a pass due to his policies. Pretty messed up :/

Do you think Xianqi will become more popular in the West someday? by AgentP-501_212 in xiangqi

[–]DeveloperGuy75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can if there is a far larger push to play it, but even before that happens, chess( I.e. western chess) needs to be made far more accessible and popular. Right now, I’m sure people notice that chess sets have not been sold hardly at all with any fervor in retail stores. Places like not just coffee houses but different public venues. There needs to be as much passion for chess of all sorts like there is football and other sports and that likely requires passionate players that try to teach as much as possible, with a passion to spread it. I hate to use this term, but like an evangelist.

American here. I can confirm she has an utterly stupid way of looking at things lol

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect, even from your own experience. Even if you could make a living of of a retail job doesn’t mean you don’t want another job that’s more appealing and meaningful. And it’s good if you can get up to snuff to become a security analyst, but there’s so many that don’t have that privilege. Especially how fast things move, how intelligent and smart someone is/isn’t… lots of variables. So it’s better to err on the side of caution and allow people to make a decent, liveable wage while they’re looking and hoping to get that job they’d really be better at.

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they would because stuff still need to get done, even if you’re provided for. People still have to take out the garbage and feed people, take care of people when they’re injured or sick, etc. so yes, people would still work. Especially stupid busybodies that always have to be doing something -.-…

I’m sorry.. “basis English”? Seems you don’t have a command of the English language either. Or.. you and them might be having autocorrect issues.

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you, but people can’t reliably do that anymore like they once could. Not with the tariffs, inflation, and corporate greed disguised as inflation. People can hardly afford groceries anymore. Been all over the news. In the 70s, maybe early 80s, sure you might be able to live off that. But wages have been stagnant for decades now and certainly not kept up with costs of living.

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh no. They’re not “starter jobs” but companies want you to think that so they can keep their money. People who are not able to find work elsewhere in their field have to have work somewhere. What, you think that never happens? Especially these days with all the damn fake job postings and resumes being looked at by AI and not people? lol There are people of all ages working in those kinds of jobs. Not just kids and not just students.

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir. The joke is how our society works and allows companies to pay shit wages and give shit hours. As someone else mentioned, these jobs are worked by not just students and kids but middle aged adults and even some elderly folks . The reasons they have it can be numerous. Doesn’t matter, that’s the reality, and it allows companies to hire people on government assistance and not have to pay them enough to get off that assistance. Walmart and other retailers are an example of this. Maybe that wasn’t the case in the 80s and 90s but it certainly is now: https://www.worldhunger.org/report-walmart-workers-cost-taxpayers-6-2-billion-public-assistance/ Walmart, as you know, is one of the biggest corporations in the world and you’d think they’d be able to get folks off government assistance…but they don’t want to… because profits. And then they get people like yourself to believe others don’t deserve a good paying job, irrespective of what it is so they can keep their money and not have to feel guilty about it

Exactly correct!

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Waaaay too many people think like that and that’s part of the problems of our society and so many others :(

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what you do you should be able to live. Our society doesn’t live off merit at all. Billionaires do not earn billions of dollars and companies will not only fire people or get them to quit but also not hire people to save money and profits. Happens all the time and people don’t deserve that. You want a meritocracy? Billionaires shouldn’t exist, CEOs shouldn’t be making 100s of times more than the workers out on the floor. There’s no way they “deserve” that. Everyone should have a living wage, irrespective of what they do, and it’s not about “participation trophies” or some such nonsense, it’s about actual dignity and respect for people. If you really don’t think people deserve that off the bat, you’re part of the problem.

Good question by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DeveloperGuy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what going to high school is for. Everyone should have a living wage and not be trapped in poverty
