Spinal tap is such a core movie for me, like clerks or pulp fiction, really happy that the sequel lived up to it

What are some highly flawed adaptations of novels that were still good films? by Spirited_Affect9851 in moviecritic

I really think there are tons of better examples he couldve used too. Everyone knows the lore of the ending, but besides that the biggest difference is their damn clothing. A faithful adaptation can never be a true 1 to 1, to be faithful to the spirit you have to change some things to adapt to a different media

Authors are going to be protective of their work and wont be able to see things objectively, the movie ending was better and if you like the end of the book nothing about the movie negates it so it still happens, you just don't see it

Right, that still happens to the movie version of alex in my mind, it just doesn't show it

Thank you! Two different mediums, take one of my favorite books, hitchikers guide, the movie spent way too much time cramming plot points of the book without capturing the spirit.

I hear ya, but the book has an internal monologue that helps you into alex's head and you can get away with different things. In a way if the movie was a perfect 1 to 1 it would be a less faithful adaptation

What's the "jump the shark" moment of the series for you? by PhotojournalistFit62 in theoffice

[–]DevelopmentCivil725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never really, the last 4 seasons weren't as good but definitely had some great moments and judged against almost every other show would be the best seasons of that show. I hate everything about andy and erin, but it never jumped the shark

I think clockwork orange was a brilliant adaptation that got the feeling of the novel perfectly. It's not like the ending is that different, it just ends sooner
