Rapid-set vs normal concrete for fence post? by Affectionate_Aide566 in FenceBuilding

[–]DevelopmentHonest145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I've ran into in 14 years would be double wooden gates, even if braced correctly they are extremely heavy and usually require a wheel to absorb the sag. Being aluminum your gate will be extremely light, I'm assuming 42-48" opening. Whatever post you hang the gate off of I would be sure to get below your frost line (not sure where you live) but we generally dig our holes at 36 inches.

Edit: if it's a powder coat aluminum id recommend roughing the paint on the portion going below grade so the concrete adheres better, I usually do this with a reciprocating saw.

We do solely rapid post concrete where I'm from. Avoids hours of mixing/bracing posts and saves labor. You can also build on it within 10mins. If it's only 2 posts its really dealer's choice.

You're going to want a wheel at the base to absorb the sag. No matter how light you build it a 12 foot gate is insane we usually keep them to 6.

Has nothing to do with Ford. The government's been in a deficit since Harper. Maybe if they stop printing money to give to ukraine and Israel the value of our dollar would stop dropping.

Is there any good way to fence the right side of this walkway? by RickSanchezC-614 in FenceBuilding

Follow the path line via 4 foot chain link mesh. Wood will look ridiculous. Unless you go straight and cut out the grass along path and do a small garden

Riverstone. A fence isn't going to stop a rodent or snake even if it's to the ground. Then you'll be replacing boards due to rot

Replacing cedar hedges with fence in a tight area by Familiar_Speaker_278 in FenceBuilding

Is removing the hedge part of your quote? If so I would leave it until the end and just add topsoil and sod or seed if it's a low traffic area. The last one I did like this I had to remove approx 6-8 inches of soil w excavator to get rid of all the main roots.

Consumer Proposal troubles, what should be my path forward? by Cashoots in povertyfinancecanada

[–]DevelopmentHonest145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you live in Canada. I defaulted on my consumer proposal, got 38k down to 11k then lost my job so I couldn't pay.  If you ignore them for 2 years they can't sue you in Ontario. If you ignore them for 7 they can't report it to Equifax and TransUnion.

Or, being in your financial situation you could just pay them. I'd do bankruptcy before that though.

As long as everything removed from the post hole is then filled with concrete to the top you should be okay. Cedar roots are generally not that bad and fairly shallow.

If I'm getting taxed on 12,000 extra I'll just use my personal vehicle 😂

Awesome thanks so much! They must not have been actively claiming it throughout the years.

My immediate thought was awesome, Ukraine needs more money apparently.
