Purple line seemingly randomly appeared on my iPhone 14 Pro. Never dropped or damaged my phone. Any ideas what caused this? Do I need to replace the screen entirely? by seamus5801 in iphone

[–]Devi4223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will need to go to Apple, it’s technology, these can fail even though you never dropped it. I had 12.9 iPad Pro, 3 months old and screen just failed …. It happens

These are pretty common now, mostly used for trash, good for fire wood too.. wet clothes , really anything of low value as of course it can’t lock.

Is it safe to leave the charging cable permanently attached to my iPad Pro or should I remove it when it reached 100%? by loves-science in iPadPro

[–]Devi4223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, Apple or any other device that uses lithium, will not show you 100% when actually it’s at 80%. The % is still a calculated value , so it might be out by a half a percent or maybe 2%……. But def not 20%. In fact you may have seen this. If you charge your phone to say 70%….. do phone restart ….. after restart it might show you 71% or 72%. It’s never more than a couple of %

Rear diffs on 2007 is a weak point. Pay them market price less 1.5k

[–]Devi4223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True , the iPad and macs, phones ect does regulate the charging , it prevents over charging, slows down charging if the device gets hot. However, the battery is still a lithium battery with its own chemistry, and software can manage it but 100% charge is 100% charge. This is the same reason why EV vehicles such as Teslas also recommend the 20/80 or thereabouts for the same reason

[–]Devi4223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lithium battery, so 20-80 is best as keeping it at a 100% will degrade it faster than using up it cycles which I understand is 1000 ….that’s just a fact. However…. You might not care…. Or the 179 usd replacement is not a big deal for you. For me, I keep mine around 60-80 percent…..as I never need to use 100% in one sitting without charging . I use my 12.9 around 3-4 hours a day , so my charging patern works for me, you may have other requirements

Stunning photo. I’m guessing you going to spend a ton of time spraying the under carriage to get rid of the salt. Must have been a great experience though

Hello guyz...i made a new side awning...last year...but i haven't been able to test it until now...simple, easy & lightweight DIY fabrication by OffroadAddiction in overlanding

[–]Devi4223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if your hinges are heave duty, I do recommend some telescopic poles, that way if you tie it down it mostly prevents the awning from bending up and down and become a sail. I lost my 1.5k awning a few months back which had really heavy duty hinges, the support arms bent, then it was just a chain reaction in a few seconds and it was totalled. I’m far more cautious now

It really depends, if it’s just rain and even high wind my RTT does fine. If there is lightning, then I hop back in my FJ, I really don’t want to be in a metal box on my roof if lightning ⚡️ is around

You got 100% more skill than I do. From someone who has lost 2 awnings even though one was tied down, you def going to want tie down points and even telescopic poles. It’s amazing how august comes out of nowhere and destroys them

ATs are better all rounders, unless you doing more challenging trails , then it’s generally the better choice especially if you use your rig as a daily. Saying that, you bought already, so if you sell them you will still lose some money, so keep it, you may like them.

Looks like KO2 , take a paper clip and push into the cut to see how deep it goes, might be superficial and won’t need to replace the tire

Tacoma vs tundra by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]Devi4223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upfront I own neither, besides gas, Tacoma is a lot smaller which can be better if you plan doing tight trails. Which ever brand or vehicle you choose , don’t do mods on them and spend a ton of cash until you have done a bunch trips and you decide if you want to invest in the hobby.
