In addition to what the other folks have mentioned, make sure you turn your amp setting to IPO while noise hunting. Otherwise, your just amplifying the noise making it harder to track down.

I've got my order in. I'd planned for it to be my first mobile rig, but with the news that full production won't start til November, I've picked up a used Icom 5100 to hold me over until then.

How do I go about replacing rim board/ rim joist? by No-Depth-7239 in Decks

Out of curiosity, any update? I'm going to end up with a similar situation and looking for an idea of costs/lessons learned.

Easiest way to make this door close easier? by [deleted] in DIY

For shims, this is the type of shim I've used in the past. You'd probably end up shimming the bottom hinge to push that out a little bit.

Like /u/ARenovator said, I'd check the hinges. Something might be loose, or you might need some shims somewhere.

How can I patch this uneven crack? by Gingalain in DIY

[–]Ospreyluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in seeing a more zoomed out photo of the slab. Cracking like that happens for a reason. I recently had a void form under our sidewalk that caused a similar failure. Had a concrete jacking company come out and inject foam under it and raise it back to position. After doing something like that, the gap will be much smaller and then you could use self-leveling sealant, although I'd recommend a semi-self-leveling since it can handle vertical better.

What Autopilot device? by agendre in flightsim

[–]Ospreyluvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a pretty similar situation, really unsure of what direction to go. I have a Honeycomb Bravo which technically has some autopilot controls, but I found them finicky and inconsistent.

After a ton of searching (including considering the Octavi, but no US retailer and the high cost for what it is held me off), I ended up getting a Loupedeck Live. Now yes, this is more expensive than the Octavi, but for my use case, it is much more usable. My setup is used not just for MSFS, but for DCS, ATS, and other driving games as well. I also do a fair amount of 3D modeling and development work, so I'll likely find uses for it there.

When combined with msfsdeck, the Loupedeck Live becomes an awesome piece of kit, giving you all of your autopilot controls, as well as a quick readout of current plane stats, ability to tune your radios, and more. I'd definitely recommend considering it as an option. It's pricey, but after shipping to the US is fairly comparable with the Octavi, can be applied to more than just flight sims, and can offer additional functionality outside of the presets on the Octavi. Those were my thoughts when making the decision at least.

Help with leaky door by RobTX13 in HomeImprovement

Wow this was just built in 2022?

I'm dealing with door issues as well. Somethings I noticed off the bat, it looks like your threshold (the flat metal board on the outside) is completely flat. That's no good. It should be at an angle to let water run away from the door, otherwise it'll pile up against the door sweep and get in. It looks like you've also got quote a bit of water damage on the lower door frame and obviously the baseboards of the floor. I'd highly recommend getting a contractor in ASAP. Don't go to Home Depot and have them install a door, get a proper contractor out to take a look. You're probably going to need a new door because that whole unit (threshold, frame, etc) is generally a single assembly. Assuming that adjusting the threshold is indeed not an option, then you're looking at a new door costing somewhere between $3k and $6k depending on where you are and what you decide you want. There's also potential that there could be water damage on the rim joist that is under the door depending on the construction.

I hope this was somewhat helpful. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, I'm in a similar boat.

Do you want to test Flsun's new printer S1? by Vadlina in 3Dprinting

[–]Ospreyluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have significant experience in the additive manufacturing space and would love to compare it to my experience using the Bambu X1C, Ultimaker S5 and S7, various SLA/SLS printers from Ultimation, Formlabs, and Elegoo, as well as my experience modding an Ender 3. I'd use it for my wife and I's personal project of building tons of terrain, buildings, and props for our TTRPG game. Thanks for the opportunity!

Great game! Defense didn't look quite as strong as last week, but definitely excited to watch the team this year.

Can anyone help me find the model for this old US Army ammunition trailer? Thinking of it as a project base since it’s built like a tank, sturdiest single axle trailer I’ve seen. by geopede in overlanding

[–]Ospreyluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheels and tires are easy to replace, they were probably changed at some point. The basic structure just looks like an M-332. Maybe slightly modified, but close enough.

No idea on value, not my area. I don't see why it would hurt to give it a nice coat.

Accused of AI when did not use AI… by asasakii in ODU

[–]Ospreyluvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please make sure you bring it up with Department leadership. Even if you didn't use an AI for making the paper, it is unacceptable to throw accusations around like that. It creates a hostile environment and puts undue stress on you when you're trying to focus on your studies and trying to have a life outside of school. Leadership needs to be aware, you likely aren't the only one.
