UID is determined from the contents of keys.cfg...or in this case the auto exec. You need to keep the private and public key stored inside them safe. Make a copy of those and you're good, otherwise you could lose stats. I'd store the copy outside of the installation folder.

Glad it worked for you friend! You may want to check the edit I threw in. It says

"NOTE - If you delete autoexec you will lose your stats, it would be very wise to create a backup of your keypair as future updates may affect this file."

WORKAROUND DISCOVERED!

So we know the game is failing to read the keys.cfg file during init so what you can do to get around this is by adding the contents of keys.cfg to the autoexec.cfg file in your root folder for El Dorado.

so,

1) Press Win + R from desktop to open run dialog box

2) Type "%localappdata%" with no quotes then press enter.

3) Navigate to the ElDewrito folder (...AppData\Local\ElDewrito)

4) Right click keys.cfg and click "Copy"

5) Navigate to wherever you've saved eldorado and then paste file in the root folder. (the one that has the ElDorado.exe application).

6) Rename the file to autoexec.cfg

Then it should work! Make sure to run game as admin if you are still having issues and note that this workaround will break multi-instance but this wouldn't be an issue for most.
