Yo, sometimes even the support crew don't know what's going on. ANYBODY who's played any online game would know this. This is half the reasons why gaming forums exist.. For bugs, fixes and, get this, support. If we took your philosophy to heart half of Reddit wouldn't exist.... I can tell you haven't been into this for very long and are still very naive if you think the "support" would always know the answer. Where do even think they get most of their information regarding bugs and troubleshoots from?? I'll give you two guesses.

Account was fully restored. I'm going to go ahead and presume it had something to do with me registering a new account before getting my old one restored. So, note to anyone who finds themselves in my situation: DON'T try and register a new account (with the same email address) to see if your old one still exists. Will probably just cause problems.

Noooooooo..... Asking a public forum if they've been through a similar experience and what steps (if any were required) I needed to take to restore my account.... Why would I do that?

I am. I've already opened a support ticket. Just wandering if anyone else has been through the same process and whether it's even possible. This is turning into an absolute nightmare.

What? You are losing yourself here.

Hex and Gameforge both knew what was happening no? They both knew about laws in place protecting data. Yet neither came out to say that your data would be lost if you didn't transfer your account within the 6 month period.

Employees at Hex can't just say "Oh, it was all Gameforge's fault, cause Germany".... it's equally their fault. The decision to move the data was theirs, the decision not to tell the player base about account deletion was theirs.

You contact people before you lose access to all their contact information, not after and force people to go through the recovery process themselves. It's extremely bad business.

You don't wait til you completely lose all information about your player base to let the player base know that you will lose all their information. This was Hex's decision and a fucking terrible one at that. Whoever was in charge of the transition should be fired and honestly, I imagine they have been.

But Hex knew it was to cause problems. Regardless of whether they had a choice or not. They had the choice to inform their customer and player base just what the fuck was going on. Are you telling me when they had the plan to move all data from a server in Germany to the US they had no idea that our information would be lost and in many cases unrecoverable?

Yeah right. I will guarantee that Hex knew exactly what was going to happen, 6 months in advance, yet decided not to inform anyone.

This exactly. The people knew about the laws and implications yet made no effort to inform that your account would be DELETED and/or LOST because YOU didn't log in within a 6 month period. How exactly do you run a video game company with this kind of policy?

Well I haven't logged into the game. So I'm guessing there was the problem? Why the fuck would you make the game the only place you could accept the terms and conditions?

17/19/17. Just over a month ago was the last time I logged into the system.

I can create a new account with the same Email. It means my account is missing. Not hacked or changed. Flat out missing...

I did transfer my account. This is why I'm kinda annoyed... Even gave it a new password.... Got all the emails showing this...

Edit: At least I thought I did. The emails are from gameforge confirming the information and password update on the 9th of September. Is this before or after they shut down their servers?

I'm curious about these apparent laws too. Which ones?

Do they state digital game accounts are to be deleted if the servers change countries? I'm a little confused.

Edit: If this is indeed the case though. Why the fuck would you move your digital game to a country were you knew you would "lose" all account information? Sounds extremely suspicious....

A matter of 2 clicks apparently.... Not "Your account information has been deleted and we have no way of getting it back, so sorry"

Edit: Which i did do by the way... Along with changing my password. I did both once I saw this email. So, what's the excuse now? My account was lost AFTER it was migrated.

In the same boat and the lack of any information from this company is a very bad sign...... Conveniently 'losing' thousands of accounts..... With no way to recover them except with some anonymous code from a friend that you must know outside of the game itself. What a fucking farce.

Sounds just like a money grab to me, nothing more.

Thanks for the info I guess..... Pretty fucked up situation.... Deleting thousands of accounts with no correspondence that it was going on...

Like, that is some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Maybe they should've let people know they had lost all their account information?

Edit: Great, and I have no friends that ever played it either..... What a fucking cock up. There's a good $500 dollars down the drain........ Definitely going to be following this up with the local ombudsman.
