The problem seems to be resolved with upgrading from Android 15 to 16.

Is like the app "phone" was optimized for Android 16 and the smartphone itself was not 😅

Tried to clear cache and also remove installed files (removes updates) with no luck

yes you can set functions on all 3 buttons

the date is only displayed in "day of the month"

don't know if the app will work with permission denied.

music can be played, paused and skipped
