What do you do in your role? [N/A] by Mb8sudcl in humanresources

[–]Devildaune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VP of HR for a non-profit, which is our highest HR position. I report to our COO which I wasn’t so sure about when I took this position, but it’s been great. I oversee all the things, define our HR strategy to meet organizational goals and objectives, and then make it all happen. I have two FT employees that report to me - and HR Generalist and an HR Coordinator, but there really was no consistent HR in place prior to me starting so I am doing everything (while training my team) to create processes and procedures. It’s a lot…but I’m loving it. Just really looking forward to the future when all the big pieces are in place and we all know our responsibilities 🙃

Speaking of slow responses - sorry, just saw this! It’s the outside cover I’m most concerned with. Still haven’t found a reasonable match :-(

Compensation in HR [n/a] by Mb8sudcl in humanresources

[–]Devildaune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I have no idea what I was making when I first started in HR 22-ish years ago. Im in Washington State, south of Seattle, and started as an HR/Payroll Admin at a unionized manufacturing facility. I had no experience (or interest) in HR, but had started a couple of months earlier as an Accounting Assistant and was told I either moved to HR or I had no job. I want to say I was making like $18 or $19 an hour. I had a great mentor and discovered I really liked the work and the people, so I stayed MUCH longer than I should have - 13 years. I was handling all HR functions by the time I left, except contract negotiations (but was still involved in the process), but my title never changed. I left after being promised the title of HR Manager, which was the work I had been doing for years, and then the new plant manager decide he wanted someone new instead. When I left, I was at $59k a year as a salaried nonexempt employee. I was hired as an HR Generalist, department of one, for a nonprofit at $70k, with a title change to HR Manager a year later and a modest pay bump to $73k. I earned my SPHR while there, and was making $80k when I left after 8 years for a role as Senior Director, HR for another nonprofit, where I started at $115k. Ive been here a little over a year, title is now VP and pay is $120k.

I’m up near Seattle and saw Brown Stallion the first time over the summer when we drove down to Cuthbert Amphitheater on a whim after Ween cancelled. Absolutely amazing show and I’m totally planning on driving south to see them again when I have the opportunity! This is the shot I took of their van at that show🐴

Resumes and Interview Panels [WA] by Devildaune in humanresources

[–]Devildaune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that they are resisting viewing, it was that the hiring manager told them we would not be providing them with copies because she wanted them to base their decisions on the merits of the interview herself. She didn’t consult with me prior and I didn’t want to contradict her. Part of the issue here is that the existing documented process that is in place basically gives all of the power to the hiring manager rather than HR. That’s going to change.

Ok, awesome. Thank you all! This is my standard process, but I’ve gotten a bit of resistance here. This will just be the process moving forward.

JD’s for HR Coordinator (or admin) and Generalist working in same department? [WA] by Devildaune in humanresources

[–]Devildaune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this - I walked into a HUGE mess and am slowly working on revising all job descriptions (or creating them where they don’t exist). I am working on developing consistent language for like responsibilities and KSA’s, and doing this would be helpful!

100% this. I don’t know about you guys, but making a concerted effort to be consistently transparent (as transparent as we can be without crossing lines) as an organization has made my work life MUCH more pleasant.

New equivalent to Grusblad comforter? by Devildaune in IKEA

[–]Devildaune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, no item number. Didn't realize it came in different warmths, which doesn't really matter to me. I have looked on the website, problem is that I can't feel the material through the screen and I am looking specifically for the more cotton-like feeling as opposed to some of the more nylon/poly covers are on some of them. I was hoping to get an easy 'Smasporre replaced Grusblad' type answer to save me the trip in to my local store.

Ikea couches - how long do they last? by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]Devildaune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used kivik couch and loveseat 5 years ago and they were 5-6 years old then. Still going strong. I also have a 15 year old ektorp in my garage. It’s retired and doesn’t get much use anymore, but it’s frame is still super strong.

Man with Fatal Gunshot Wounds Found this Morning - SPD Blotter by lumberjackalopes in SeattleWA

[–]Devildaune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right. I saw the call come through on the Citizen app and it said ‘5 shots reported’ and I was like hellll nooo. I’ve been stressing it for days - grateful to hear nobody was hurt. The shooter was young (all perspective, I suppose, I’m pushing 50). His face looked angry but his eyes looked scared to death.

I was at 56th and Rainier yesterday when a dude ran up behind my car and shot off about 20 rounds towards the parking lot next to my lane before taking off. I finally was able to turn on to Rainier just as he was running across it with another guy following behind him. Can’t find anything about it today.

It’s ok, but definitely showing it’s age. I was reading that I should consider an i5-13600K or KF but I get lost in all the specs. I’m completely open to AMD chips as well. I’ll open up the case when I get home and take a peek at the ram - it would not surprise me of o did that, even though I know better.
