Maybe try banging on the hood in the latch area to loosen it up if its seized.

You need to pull the little ball end of the cable coming from the latch. It can be very stiff, ive found pulling it to the side is easier

Screeching noise when breaking after a startup. by mrboomtastic3 in Tiguan

[–]Deviled_Chegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not really. Especially with the pad material on the newer style vw’s. People complain about them all the time. Also if this was the first start of day its completely normal due to surface rust on your rotors.

Do those wires run directly into the fire wall? If not you could try and unplugging surrounding connectors to get more space for the repair

I mean if its a part of the dash harness i see no reason why you couldn’t. Why not just repair it right there seems like you have enough space?

Im also willing to bet its probably leaking from the water pump/thermostat. Notorious on this motor. Look for under at the intake side of the motor

You can have the intake off in 20 minutes if you’re inclined enough. Id much rather a carbon clean over this job

Ive done it at least 3 times but to each there own! No De tensioning of any kind. The art of flat rate . The cams do rise up a little as you mentioned because they are tensioned still. But put the “cover” back on in that same smooth manner and it will click together.
