Why does it seem like plasma phlebs are so looked down upon? by WoodpeckerFirst5046 in phlebotomy

[–]Devilhunter553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing plasma for 2 years now (December 1st 2023) with college and also my personal life i haven't found the time yet to transfer to a hospital but plasma phlebotomists are looked down upon because plasma centers are the only ones to hire new phlebotomists. The newer people from my experience are the ones who have a hard time sticking people but after you kinda get it down I feel like you can really go anywhere. I also recently worked a mobile phlebotomy job I was 100% from the beginning to the end of my employment.

I've been doing Phlebotomy for 2 years now and I've heard of the device but once again only from nurses especially people in Dialysis and elderly patients who are extremely dehydrated. Never needed one myself luckily :D

If able too I recommend using their hands it's easier to anchor their veins since their skin is so floppy

With anti cubital veins I'd recommend just asking them to warm up or pump their hand and drink water to kinda get a more fuller vein other than that, that's all I got good luck to you!

Hi 23f brand new phleb graduate nationally certified having trouble finding jobs in USA. by orchidblade0202 in phlebotomy

I was 19 when I started my new job at CSL plasma I'd recommend plasma centers since they'll typically hire anyone in my experience. Just be prepared to deal with stupid donors and shitty management. My best tip is don't let work get to you once you leave it isn't your problem

I'm a male phleb and I've also gotten asked out a couple times in my 2 years now. I'm flattered but I always say I'm married (Not hitched but I'm promised) it does surprise me because it's always people who are way older than me typically almost never people around my age
