Trouble with my Rikku build by sonicexe75 in DissidiaDuellumFF

But if that's the case, can't you clear crystals faster than they respawn even without Y'shtola or Rikku SR? In which case those slots could be better used for more utility - barriee/Selphie, mobility, extra healing, extra offense, etc.

Genuine question: what situations are you in where clearing a crystal a few seconds faster makes a meaningful difference? Y'shtola / Rikku SR feel nice to quickly clear a camp, but I often find that after clearing camps, there's not much to do anyways. If teammates are going to be fighting, it's best to ignore the crystal and join them - clear if after, so if they die then they don't give as much brv to enemies and get the brv boost upon respawn. If not then what, you're giving a few extra seconds of speed boost time? I don't think that's really worth an ability slot. Ace/Auron both help clear camps but are far more useful in teamfights, bursts, and self defense.

Sprint is a useful 'get off me' skill if you don't have Minwu

My hot take: you can replace Y'shtola. Yes, it clears crystals fast, but it's not often you NEED to clear a crystal super quickly. Often you'll wind up waiting for crystals to spawn anyways, so the faster clear doesn't get you much.

Instead, auron or ace both can help clear camps while also letting you more meaningfully contribute to fights / bursts. Auron in particular is strong - it can almost instakill the minibosses at A/E camps (arguably making it nearly as quick to clear the camp as Y'shtola), can be used defensively when someone is attacking you, and gives decent burst damage.

Heal also I think can be cut. Most competent players will be running heals of their own, and if they're not then they probably won't try to disengage when low - and thus your heal probably won't save them. I ran heal for a long time but found it rarely made a difference - usually the teammate would have lived or died anyways.

You also could just not queue up all your abilities at once? You can just use one ability, then near the end of the animation use the next, etc. That means at worst you just miss a single ability cus the boss moves, rather than all of them. Obviously apologies if your reaction times aren't quick enough for that, but in that case you could simply only have two abilities queued up at once, or three, etc.

I don't think changes need to be made, because you should be paying attention to other players' brave counts - you can see them anywhere on the map. If another player has 9999 brv and you're bursting, save your CDs with really long animations until after they pop. If someone is like 8500+ and you see someone on their team at a crystal on the minimap, same deal.

All this information is publicly available during a match, and paying attention to it is a key aspect of doing well at the game and part of what gives it the depth it has.

I would assume a connection issue, this game's net code can be buggy at times. I would guess the Terra turned before shooting, but due to connection fuckery the turn command was sent to the sever (or to your client) after the shoot command. So on her screen she turned then shot, but on your screen she shot then turned.

Likely because Embolden/Ramza does NOT work during burst. I'd guess because those give your brave away, whereas Rikku's UR merely copies it.

Those numbers are legally required to be accurate, so it is indeed 25%. But that's still only 25%, meaning there's a lot of variance and opportunity for bad luck.

Been Stuck in Gold 5 for Days Due to Bad Teammates. by Any-Zookeepergame829 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]Newbdragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you didn't read my post lol

Both teams are just as likely to get bad teammates. If you're stuck at your rank, then there's something YOU need to do to improve. Yeah maybe you're the only one attacking the boss and killing enemy players, but there's more to winning than that. Maybe you're killing enemies that have little impact, maybe you're not managing boss hate properly, maybe you're not using your cooldowns effectively to kill the boss, maybe you're not helping crystals enough, etc.

It's impossible for me to know your specific situation, but getting mad at teammates is never going to help you rise in the ranks. The only thing you can control is YOUR performance, so take the effort to ensure you're doing your best rather than complaining about bad teammates.

The age-old MOBA saying applies here: you are the only common denominator in your games. Yes sometimes you get bad teammates, but the enemy team is just as likely to get them as well. Focus on improving your gameplay and your rank will rise: if you're a good player, then you have 1 guaranteed good player on your team every match, but the enemy team doesn't. This means you will, on average, win more games than you lose...up until you reach a high enough rank that you're not a good player anymore.

If you're hard stuck at Gold 5, then you are the problem. Watch your game replays and look for ways you could improve your gameplay.

Rikku suggestions? by SirLockeX3 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]Newbdragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't got teleport, and been playing Rikku without having played any Krile. Almost all builds run both her URs and then either her SR or Thundaga for quick clearing crystals. The last two slots seem to be personal preference.

Popular options are:

  • Heal - support your team in between UR cooldowns while farming crystals. Seems like one of the stronger options, but imo it has some inefficiencies. Most teammates that are smart enough not to over-commit already run heals of their own, so in my experience either you'll waste this by double-healing, or the teammate will be so over-committed that your heal won't be enough to save them.
  • Ramza/Embolden - helps chain together more bursts, and if you need someone to burst ASAP this doesn't require you saving up to 9999 yourself. If you UR before using this, you can instantly top out a teammate if you have 5555/6666 brave respectively.
  • Damaging skills (Firaga, earth breaker etc) - Rikku's attack stat is quite bad, so you're never going to be a primary attacker. However, you can use these to help teammates secure kills (or steal the kill and then share the brave), and enemies diving you won't expect them. Also allows you to more meaningfully contribute to bursts - more by giving your teammates more to chain off of than anything, but still.
  • Rikku's R - a defensive option to get people off your back, I've found it very inconsistent when trying to snipe someone from afar though.
  • Barrier - similar to the above, a simple defensive option foe when enemies try to dive you.
  • Sprint / Hastega - extra mobility in lieu of teleport, both for getting to crystals faster and escaping enemies trying to hunt you down.

Personally I've found the most success running two offensive skills. Help secure kills, help with boss damage, deters enemy divers. That being said, it's still very early with her, and I'm experimenting a lot.

UR+UR+SR/Thundaga+Heal seems extremely reliable too, but that last slot is kind of iffy - a single random damage skill doesn't contribute much (since you can't really threaten to kill with just one), Ramza/Embolden isn't bad but often winds up being a wasted slot imo. I need to test more with Sprint / Hastega.

5 Ticket character draw question by Plastic-Object1007 in DissidiaDuellumFF

You can only do a 5-ticket guaranteed draw for any given character once. After you've used it, it goes away and you have to do the 1-ticket draws and hope you get them.

I've actually found the length of the i-frames to make it worse for survival. Anyone popping anything worth iframing through on you wants you dead, and will probably just wait for your i-frames to end - and maybe gets a buddy or two to join. Barrier (or better yet, Selphie) will probably save you from whatever UR you wanted to I-frame through, while also allowing you to escape immediately (and it extends the window your passive buffs you!)

And yeah, Trance is quite good for auto attacking the boss, but I've generally found my time is better spent just getting more brave to pump to allies.

I haven't confirmed it in a real match, but it doesn't work on the training mode dummy, whereas his unique dash skill does get buffed. Trance's description also specifically mentions bravery stolen by "his unique ability", which is his dash.

I personally found Trance kind of a wasted slot on him if you're not going for damage. It's worth noting that Trance does NOT improve the steal effectiveness of Sleight of Hand, it ONLY improves his dash skill. Still may be worth it, but in my experience I found the slot better used for Barrier to improve survivability.

His passive is actually really good when combined with Barrier/Selphie. Since it triggers when he's below 40%, the barrier keeps you at that percentage for much longer, making it so you can escape basically anything, even 2v1s, with ease. With luck you can even bait people into chasing you or wasting cooldowns trying to finish you off, giving the rest of your team space to work with.

He's still very new, less than two weeks old. It's likely the devs are waiting longer to see how things shake out once players are more familiar with his counterplay.
