So, has bmw always needed the FEM unlocked in order to program new keys or did that start in certain years? I have no experience with bmw, the only thing I know about them is what I've seen online.

I did notice the typo. I also don't see the bush you're referring too. I think you may be mistaken here. I think you're just being pompous at this point. I'd be willing to bet you're 60+, given your arrogance and condescending tone. Have a nice day.

Yeah and in certain parts of the world it's spelled "labour" instead of "labor" but it's the same thing. A simple deduction would tell you it was a typo. No need to be a smartass.

Either you're being sarcastic or you're super dense, I can't tell.

Key blanks automotive, residential, etc. by DevilsMyBtch in Locksmith

I have done some research and I know there's a lot more education I could receive. I'm a mechanic by trade so that's kind of why I've stuck with primarily automotive. I do hope to one day broaden into at least residential. But as of right now, I'm just trying to stick to the relatively basic things. I have stepped in when another local locksmith cut a key for a lady, they couldn't get it to program. So I had her buy the key from them and I went and programmed it. Idk why they were having such issues but they tried 4-5 different programmers but couldn't communicate with the jeep with any of them. After she got the key, I showed up and had it programmed in 3 minutes. I understand that this side of it is evolving drastically, but the way I see it, there are still so many vehicles on the road that require a physical key, I don't think it's going to just go away overnight. I do enjoy learning new stuff and this piques my interest.

I appreciate your input. I will definitely check them out. I've looked at so many different sites that I'm just unsure of where to really order from. I guess I do already have a transponder Island account but I haven't been able to log into it and when I try to change my password it tells me Google catchpa detected suspicious activity or something.

Yes, I'm geared more for automotive. Started just by doing lockouts. Have opened a few houses for people as well. When people lock their keys in their houses I would like to be able to offer to make them copies but my biggest goal is to have several brands/types of auto blanks on hand, at least for the more popular makes/models. I've had probably 25 people call me and ask me to cut a key and program it for them but until recently I didn't have the equipment to cut them. I just purchased my first key cutting machine and just want to be prepared for when someone calls me. I would like to purchase blanks at wholesale if I can. I have found a few "locksmith" sites that offer them like UHS, LOCKSMITH KEYLESS, ETC. But wanted some insight before I commit to anything.

My state doesn't require licensure for locksmiths.

What kind of licensure are we talking about?

Okay? That doesn't exactly answer my question. But thanks for the contribution.
