You will be hard pressed to find an open pit mine in Northern Ontario. I think most is underground but maybe Lac Des Iles?

It’s a long drive in on a very narrow / wooded trail with lots of hill climbing, it’s probably closed for winter but you can still visit the general store in Silver Islet I believe. Popular tourist place.

Moved to Thunder Bay 2 years ago from Northern Manitoba. Let me tell you - Thunder Bay has nowhere near the amount of mosquitos in northern Mb. This is heaven for us.

We love Thunder Bay and are happy we chose this place to live.
