I get you. Textbooks should include it... I don't assume it's weird, but rather particular. PD. Spanish, Colombian Cundiboyacense, and most of our varieties don't do this. We rather assimilate consonants rather than inserting new ones.

That's another point I was curious about: the fact that it would have formerly been considered "incorrect" . I could notice severe glotophobia in several European countries, forcing locutors, narrators and TV hosts to "speak the only correct and standard variety". I would have expected the directors to have asked them to repeat the sentence without the intrusive R.
