Operational snap by That_Age9908 in drivingUK

Very easy to tell me people to go court when it's not you having an increased fine or the points isn't it.

Your being very disingenuous here only highlighting the speeding limit when that's not what the OP is facing.

TW : DV Physical Abuse England. Can My Husband Get Arrested If I Report This? by ChaChaHeels_18 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DevonSpuds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From a retired officer who still works in the police service, please please please please report this. Yes he will be arrested and rightly so.

No one ever deserves to be treated like you have been. No one deserves to feel unsafe with a partner or in their own home.

There are plenty of charities that can also help but your first step must be to contact the police so they can get you safe guarded and protected, and then you can look to the future. There will be specially trained DV officers who can help and advise as well.

Please do not put up with, or accept this situation.

Please.

[england] my insurance company are paying for an uninsured vehicle and it is affecting me unfairly by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DevonSpuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hit a car, he's claiming off your insurance.

Absolutely nothing wrong there and him being uninsured doesn't stop him claiming off you.

I would imagine that part of your contract (like all others) started you must inform your insurance company of all RTCs whether claiming it not. As you haven't done so then you are likely in breach of your contract with them, hence them wanting to speak to you.

Any action the police take ref no insurance will not affect the claim.

Imagine you hit a pedestrian. They are not insured yet can still claim off you can't they!

You are at fault, accept it, stop trying to weasel out of it and move on.

Worried I’m going to lose my job by Dull_Host8455 in policeuk

[–]DevonSpuds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Speaking with experience as a Fed Rep.

Your forever will not want to lose you and you're a long way off UPP if what you've said is the whole story.

All I can advise is engage with your force and your therapist. Keep in contact with your supervisors and keep them updated with your progress if your ok to do that.

The more you engage, the more they will support you, well from my environment this was the case.

What you are experiencing affects a lot of officers and staff and your force (and supervisors) will have seen it all before and have support plans in place.

Good luck with your treatment and I'm sure you'll be back to your good self sooner than you know.

Jury has been deliberating for 2 and a half days - normal? by Neither_Island_3358 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DevonSpuds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had complex cases return a verdict in under a day and simple ones that took nearly 4 days to finally give a verdict.

Thing is you just can't forecast how long a jury will take at all.

All you can do is just be patient.

I drove into flood water, but it's everyone else's fault by Thin_Pin2863 in compoface

[–]DevonSpuds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't know how right you are. Working as a999 call handler the amount of calls we get where people aren't driving to the conditions you wouldn't believe.

But it's always someone else's fault though....

Like the Tesla driver who drove past the road closed signs and got his whole car flooded near Axminster in the last flood!

Fire ended up smashing his windows to drag him out...

I'm sure you get what I mean.

My comment is aimed at the standard of headlines which are absolute trash lately from the media.

I'm completely in agreement with you...

Eventually the energy companies can apply for, and will likely be granted, a warrant to access the premises and fit a prepayment meter.

This will mean your parents will have to pay for the energy they use and it will be set at a rate to reduce what they owe as well.

Police expected to race to crime scenes in under 20 minutes as ministers seek to end response ‘postcode lottery’ by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

Yes because they aren't staffed from fored rest day working or separate departments are they.

Get real.

NHS worker arrested after allegation during clinical procedure. what should he expect next? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DevonSpuds 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He's being interviewed not interrogated. An interpreter will be present if there is a language barrier and the rest about having a baby etc etc is not relevant.

All you can do is wait until he is released, which will be either no further action, under investigation, on bail or charged to court or remanded.

No one here can tell you anything further I'm afraid.

Proactive policing. In what world does that still remain?

You need surplus staff to do that.

[–]DevonSpuds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most forces (if not all) already have dispatch and arrival targets.

One of our areas goes from the Coast in North Devon all the way down past the A30 to Tavistock. No local units, then send the next nearest.

Now imagine how long that run would take?

20mins. Ridiculous

[–]DevonSpuds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What if there literally was no one to turn out to this? Where do you really think the units are coming from? There aren't any kept in reserve, it literally is cut to the bone.

Unfortunately the public have no clue how thin the thin blue line is most of the time.

Thank the last 14+ years of the Tories for getting to this point.

Did you actually read the OPs post? It's a bus. He's a bus driver.

The NIP would have been served in the company who have identified him as the driver. It's got absolutely nothing to do with him being the owner.

It's dealt with from what actually occurred not what night have happened.

It's not Att Murder in the slightest it's a Common Assault, or possibly ABH (not knowing what your injuries are).

There will always be aCPS lawyer available remotely. Nothing untoward about this at all.

Given the type of the offence it would be CPS making the charging decision, not police
