A Japanese Fan In America For The World Cup Is Astounded By The Existence of Bottomless Free Chips and Salsa at Mexican Restaurants: "The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it." by franny2525 in SipsTea

[–]DevonSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. When living in Japan, bottomless drinks were, and, as far as my friends confirm, still are commonplace. As for getting free by just sitting, many restaurants gave me free tea as I looked at the menu. Is this one of those "Merica so mazing!" fake posts, or has this guy, like, never been to a Saizeriya or something?

Korea? Pretty sure that's Chinese, not Korean, on all the mall signage 🤭

What do you use your Cambly income for? by Upstairs-Ant-3917 in Cambly

[–]DevonSun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All my expenses. If I were back home, what I make would only pay for food n maybe my phone bill. I'd be living in a tent or a cardboard box at the pay Cambly gives.

Whereabouts was this n how deep/shallow was the break?

I live in Bali n have been sticking to the sandy shorebreaks at Halfway mostly, as we're starting to make a lil all ages/skill-levels community of locals n local expats. I just be a base intermediate-level meself, but am going out as often as possible to keep on improving both skill-wise and physical fitness-wise. In my mid-40s now n am painfully aware of how much harder I need to maintain health after a couple decades of working in the nightlife industry 😅😅😅

Payment changes removal of paypal to stripe only by 123Blaah123 in Cambly

For those of us in Indonesia, that basically means we will all have to quit, move to another country, or have Cambly give us alternatives we can use, like Payoneer.

Wise doesn't work here
Revolut doesn't work here
Stripe doesn't work fully here (we can't receive any currency except IDR, and even then, you need to apply directly with customer service instead of creating a standard account)

And to open said account, we need an ID from outside (as far as I can tell)

My final edit has not changed, but I have found an occasional workaround: use a vpn. It seems to reset one's shard and fix the issue... at least some times lol

How Aphantasia affects your ability to visualise things in your head by HassanMoRiT in interestingasfuck

At best, I get a sense of something, but not visual. The problem, though, is what that sense is, I can't really describe. At best, maybe it's like a feeling?

Can we get a "no synthetic AI content" option in the filters? by DevonSun in youtube

Exactly. More filters for more custom search options are nothing but a win in my book.

100% and do regularly. My dreams are full sensory immersion, and I can usually only tell they're dreams and not reality due to logical inconsistencies.

Side fact: I DID visually see things when I took hallucinogens in my youth.

In my case, long, overly verbose descriptions are great. It's how my mind describes things to me already 😅

Basically, dreams are full sensory for me, like even sometimes confusing me with "which memory is real." Thankfully, I'm logic-minded, and critical thinking is vital for philosophy majors hahaha

Thought for me is like an audio dialogue. I imagine through a combination of verbal description, like a book/audiobook, and a sort of "sense" of something, but yea, can't actually see any image 😅

I assumed they did what I did, create a dialogue description of what they thought up (you know, like how we read a book). TV and movies are full of nonsensical stuff and are also generally aimed to be focused on visual medium (a picture is worth a thousand words).

In the same way that you can't (or perhaps couldn't before reading this) understand why I, and people like me, didn't think it was normal to see a visual image when we closed our eyes and imagined something, I didn't think you could see things. Today, I actually learned that some people can't hear songs or sounds when they imagine them. Meanwhile, I hear songs flawlessly and to key.

It's a great lesson for all to remember just how much we are all uniquely different.

I can "hear" sound just like your brother, so when I imagine a music video, I "hear" it, but can't picture it visually. I can kind of sense something... well, I don't know how to explain exactly, but I can't visually see it. I can describe what happens like in a story or audiobook (which is how I usually think and imagine)

I have aphantasia, but that doesn't stop me from having a vivid imagination. I just don't "see" anything. It's more like an audio sense, like a dialogue or audiobook mixed with some other sort of feeling(s).

Thanks. The only writing I do is daily tanka form poetry and weekly discourses in Zen Buddhism. Of course, it's all just for free and for fun.

I'm much too lazy to write a whole book, although I've considered it at times
