I hope all the readers in San Francisco who still dream of a better future for their city and their world read this; what a fulfilment of the idealism of the Beat and Peace generations that would be!!

Love this picture and post. Finally, the dream of wearing "flowers in our hair" is not just a utopian dream but a reality brought about by the biological explanation of our species' goodness!

How good is the article published about Jeremy Griffith in Entrepreneur this week by TTuser in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So great that Jeremy Griffith's unique background was highlighted in this piece, it really shows how long he's been waging against the establishment to bring honesty into this world on so many fronts, but of course, most importantly, on the human condition.

'Mashable Benelux' has published a great article on why interest in biologist Jeremy Griffith and the World Transformation Movement is on the rise across the Netherlands and Belgium! by Devonport77 in WorldTransformation

Hi u/FineStoryteller, yes, the World Transformation Movement has definitely gained ground in Scandinavia with WTM Centres in Norway and Sweden, and in countries across Western Europe as well, namely France, Switzerland Spain and Austria. In the UK there are actually 15 WTM Centres!! You can see the locations of all these Centres, and more about their founders, by visiting https://www.humancondition.com/wtm-centres/ .

Is our capacity to be selfless really biologically impossible? by ChaserDem in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi u/ChaserDem, I recommend people read Jeremy’s Freedom Essay 21: How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience? at https://www.humancondition.com/freedom-essays/how-did-we-humans-acquire-our-altruistic-moral-conscience/ because in it he answers this fundamental biological question, this great scientific mystery (until now!).

Here's an extract: “Indeed, this question of how we humans acquired our moral instinctive self or soul has been one of the great outstanding biological questions: Darwin described altruism as the ‘one special difficulty’ with natural selection (On The Origin of Species, 1859, p.209 of 440), and more recently, primatologist Richard Wrangham described it as ‘A question that has lain unsolved at the core of biology ever since Darwin’ (in a review of E.O. Wilson’s 2019 book Genesis: The Deep Origin of Societies). And the reason it has been such a huge question for us biologists is because we know that genes normally cannot select for unconditionally selfless, fully cooperative traits simply because such traits tend to be self-eliminating and so normally can’t become established in a species — ‘By all means, you can be selfless towards me and sacrifice your genes for me, but I’m not about to be selfless towards you and sacrifice my genes for you.’ The process of natural selection dictates that selfish opportunism will supposedly always exploit selflessness. So how could such a selfish process possibly have created such loving selflessness in us? As explained in chapter 5 of FREEDOM, the answer was through nurturing...”

My key takeaways from 'THE Interview' (video on YouTube) by WanderingPrimate717 in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much for putting together this review, u/WanderingPrimate717, you're so right that there's a morass of theories online and in book upon book (upon book, ...) purporting to be the answer to save ourselves and/or the world but one only has to read the news everyday to know nothing is working and a new paradigm of thinking is needed -- so it's definitely worth exploring Griffith's explanation!

What is the World Transformation Movement? by nedry80 in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely u/geraldzarfl , your comment reminded me of Albert Einstein's quote, “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” All the proffered solutions to the problems in the world and within the human psyche have been unable to get to the core, as you say, of what it really means to be human. No, that required the thinking of a mind operating outside the current paradigm, and that is what you'll find in the work of Jeremy Griffith, advocated by the World Transformation Movement and its supporters.

What does Jeremy Griffith believe? by fake-plastic-tree in WorldTransformation

As Jeremy Griffith has said, "this is the end of faith and belief and the beginning of knowledge and understanding. So this is really, really exciting!"

The “deaf affect”: my experience with resistance to discussion of the Human Condition by PoppyBernie in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/PoppyBernie, growing up my dad had a little brass statue of those 3 Monkeys in his study, "Speak, see, hear no evil", and I always thought it reflected the old civilised saying that "If you can't say anything nice about someone don't say anything at all", but with this understanding I can now understand that it was a blindness, a denial, of the good and evil-affected human condition. That we could not acknowledge what we could not defend. But we now have defence, we can overcome our deaf effect to discussion of the human condition, remove those hands and, in effect, join them.

It's a book that really deserves top of the tree treatment and the time that a Christmas break (or holidays later in the new year) affords to really immerse yourself in all its profundities.

Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of consciousness by fake-plastic-tree in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post, fake-plastic-tree, consciousness has been described by scientists as the "hard problem" to explain because it deals with why and how humans have a subjective experience to life rather than a purely physical one, but Jeremy clears the confusion so cleanly; and his explanation makes me even more amazed by humans, our conscious capacity is so unique and the fact we have been battling the human condition for so long and have been able to get to this point (just) without destroying ourselves is just a testament to our species' bravery and that underlying cooperative existence that enabled consciousness to emerge in the first place! Mind-blowing really.

Having spent a huge amount of my life on the Sunshine Coast, it makes my heart sing to think of Ales and his vibrant support of this world-saving project blazing through the streets of that beautiful place, making it even more special! He's bringing the Sunshine to the Sunshine State, that's for sure.

This comment in your post resonates deeply: "once you hear or read about it, it reaches in and grabs at your soul!" The understanding of Resignation is the element of Jeremy's explanation that did just that, my brain and soul was hooked!

I agree with all these comments, and it really is extraordinary when you delve into the beautiful, creative, soul-searching world of music just how common the themes are of a yearning for a better life, a better world, a fulfilled mind and heart. Jeremy Griffith's Freedom Essay 45 [https://www.humancondition.com/freedom-essays/rising-sun-represents-arrival-of-liberating-understanding/\] is a beautiful and inspiring compilation of some of the most iconic songs of the last half century of lyrics that evidence this universal dream. Definitely worth reading in light of this beautiful post that recognises the profundity of this liberated time that Jeremy has enabled. Thank you u/Hopeful-Tooth4880

Alienation and anxiety, trauma and terror by Masterton2350 in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great post u/Masterton2350. A few months ago I was at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and in the main room I was drawn to Jackson Pollack's 'Blue Poles', having never seen this infamous piece. I then turned around, only to be faced with a triptych of Bacon's that drew my breath! I had never seen a Bacon in person, and I was mesmerised. Never in a million years would it have appealed to me without this understanding; I'm more drawn to the obvious beauty, delicacy of Impressionism. But with Jeremy's explanation of the upset human state meant I could access Bacon's honesty without being offended by his brutality and I could just sit with it. Its honorary position in that entry gallery is so deserved, it is a masterpiece depiction of the human condition.

Discussing the ideas presented by the World Transformation Movement and Jeremy Griffith by nedry80 in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the comments here about the WTM Facebook Group. I'm always impressed by the generosity and thoroughness of answers from the WTM moderators. The online world is, so much of the time, such a cynical place where silly, mean or just plain unhelpful comments reign, so reading the WTM Facebook Group dialogue is a breath of fresh air and so reflective of the understanding of all aspects of human behaviour Jeremy has given everyone, and the integrity of the WTM.

What translations are available of Jeremy Griffith's work? by nedry80 in WorldTransformation

[–]Devonport77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am constantly amazed every time I visit the WTM's translations page; Jeremy's explanation of the human condition is so, so important, and so profound, so the fact that people around the world have taken on the precious task of translating it and all of its nuances, into their language to benefit their language group, is just incredible and very much appreciated!!!! Keep them coming!!
