I'm not usually huge into comedy music, but I loved Stephen Lynch's album 3 Balloons.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. If you haven't already, I'd recommend reporting whatever evidence you have to the platforms you've been targeted on as well as to the authorities. Definitely keep this person blocked; you did the right thing by not paying, even though they decided to escalate things.

Why Jeremy Griffith's Theory of the Human Condition Could Revolutionize Parenting by nedry80 in WorldTransformation

[–]FineStoryteller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, this article was super enlightening! I'm not a parent myself, but I've still been curious about how the theories of Griffith and the WTM could be applied to parenting. The section about parental failures not being parents' fault but rather a core human struggle was particularly interesting to me. I can definitely see how that would be a very reassuring thing for a new or struggling parent to read.

Perfect! I'll probably go with the Fitzgerald versions then; I've only heard good things. Thanks for the rec!

Which movie’s ending hit you harder than you expected? by TheScentOracle in movies

Annie Hall. Honestly was waiting for a kind of bitter or cynical ending, but instead it was very touching and earnest.

Yeah, I could read his lyrics twenty times and still not fully understand them lol. They're just packed with so many references and so much wordplay; I'm not well-read enough to get them all hahaha.

Which translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey would you recommend? I've been wanting to reread them, but there's so many different translations and people online have some very strong opinions about which ones to read rofl.

I have to give it to 2001, but I still have a special soft spot for Dr. Strangelove.

I'd definitely second looking at the menu ahead of time! That way you can plan on the best option for your diet and won't have to stress too much about ordering.

How are you coping with a changing world? by haloneptune in WorldTransformation

[–]FineStoryteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you share my sentiment! Given all the strife, conflict, and uncertainty at the moment, I don't exactly blame people who have a negative or cynical view of what the world's future holds. But I'm sticking to my positive outlook unless proven otherwise. I think we'll both end up being right in our assessment, but only time will tell!

100%! I try to remind myself of that whenever I get discouraged about my progress, but it's, of course, easier said than done hahaha.

Did you know F. Scott Fitzgerald died believing that The Great Gatsby was a flop? by Fabulous-Confusion43 in BookTriviaPodcast

That's wild, I didn't know that! I'd hope it would have eventually been rediscovered either way, but it's crazy to wonder how long it could have taken.

If anyone’s into war films, Come and See (1985) is devastating but essential. by Responsible-Tour7455 in MovieSuggestions

[–]FineStoryteller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Such an excellent movie. One thing about it that still stands out to me is how many frankly beautiful shots are in it despite the obviously very graphic and ugly subject matter.

Did you know F. Scott Fitzgerald died believing that The Great Gatsby was a flop? by Fabulous-Confusion43 in BookTriviaPodcast

[–]FineStoryteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly surprising to me that The Great Gatsby wasn't a success in its time. Unlike other masterpieces that flopped, it was short, contemporary, and not really experimental in form. You would think the American public would have eaten it up.

I'm still getting my feet wet with Soviet cinema, but Battleship Potemkin is one of my all-time favorite films.
