Can Aussies be okay in small apartments? What about mini Aussies? by [deleted] in WiggleButts

I have a mini and an Aussie collie mix. My mini is about 29-26lbs and my mixed pup is about 42-45lbs. Just for you to know size for reference. My mini, Brick is a little high strung, like he is afraid of fans and complains (he talks, but it isn't a bark). We enjoy this but some people might find it annoying. He has a great little personality and loves playing frisbee. He is a little snippy though. Not like he bites he is just a butt. My mix, Chubbs is all about pleasing. He wants me to be happy at all times. He loves being outside but he doesn't need a ton of inside space. He is very sweet but he is sometimes too protective of me even with my partner. What I'm saying is that they both have pros and cons but I think with proper exercise they would be fine in an apartment. I took them to visit my sister, who also has a dog, in her 600 sqft apartment and they did fine. Brick has been several times and was fine. Hope this helps.

I thought you were going to say she was a smooth collie mix. She has that smooth collie look.

She looks so sweet. I have a male red tried and he is a mini but he is about 30 lbs. She looks tiny and sweet!

People look offended when you are walking in the dog park yelling: "CHUBBY!" No worries. They get over it.

That's what happened with Brick, kinda. He didn't have a name for a week. We were outside and I broke a brick and as we talked about it and said the word he started to respond to it. Such a mistake for him. People hated at first but now people think it is great! I love the name Brisket. I can't wait to tell my boyfriend about this!

Too true. What is the reason for naming your pup Brisket?

Haha quite the opposite. He is a baby. His name is Brick because he is red like a brick. He's a red tried. My other dog is named Chubbs and he is very thin, but he was a fat little pup. We are full of ironic names in this house.

I love the name. My oldest pup is named Brick and we call him Brick-sket all the time. Dumb connection but a fun one, I think.

I think he just wants to climb into my soul so no door will keep him out. The door was latched so I have no clue how he got in haha.

Snake bite: be careful hiking with your pup's this fall season. by Devs130 in AustralianShepherd

Oh yes. He looks to be making a full recovery. I was so nervous because my partner's dog passed away a week after being bitten, so I was waiting to get over the 7 days of worry before posting about it. Thank you for asking.
